Theresa, the Doomsday Queen

Chapter 682 Shattered Faith

Seeing Clara covered in injuries, Lily stepped forward with concern. At that moment, Theresa opened the cockpit door and stepped down. "Ms. Hall!" Lily called out. For a moment, she forgot about Clara and turned to Harrance. "Honey, help Clara up and take her to get checked." Theresa laughed sharply at her words. At her laugh, Lily noticed Harrance freeze and his hand hovered mid-reach as if unsure what to do. The tension in the air made Lily uneasy. "What's wrong?" Theresa leaned lazily against her helicopter with her arms crossed, watching the scene in silence. Harrance, who had seemed ready to explain things earlier in the underground, now remained completely silent. His eyes carried struggle. He kept his head slightly lowered, and his face was pale. "Honey, why do you look so pale? Are you hurt anywhere? You should rest. I can handle this here." Lily's words were full of care, but they only made Harrance's struggle worse. Then another voice cut through the awkwardness. "Harrance, being with you even for one night was worth it. Even if you regret it today." "Shut up!" Harrance quickly interrupted Clara. But Lily had already heard. She froze in place, staring at Clara in shock. "What did you say?" "Lily, let me explain," Harrance said nervously, rushing in front of her. "It's not what you think." "Lily, it's all my fault. I've loved Harrance for fifteen years. You've kept him for fifteen years too! Let him go and give him to me!" Clara shouted. "Shut up!" Harrance released Lily and moved to cover Clara's mouth. He held her tightly and would not let her speak another word. Lily watched this scene as if her brain had exploded. She stiffly stared at Harrance covering Clara's mouth while trying to lift her and take her away. He was careful to avoid her injuries. She remembered how much he had hated anyone else touching him before. When he began to lift Clara and move toward the exit, Lily finally found her voice. "Harrance, you love her?" "Lily, it's hard to explain right now." Harrance held Clara close and stared at Lily. "I need to take her for treatment first. She's badly hurt." "Hold on! Tell me clearly!" Lily screamed. Her voice cut sharp, and tears streamed down her face. Harrance flinched at her tears as if he had been burned. He could not meet her eyes. "Lily, you're understanding. You'll understand. Back then, we…" Her tears fell like loose beads. She sobbed, "Then it's true." "Lily, don't say anything for now. You've always been so understanding. Clara's injuries are serious. We'll talk later…" "Harrance!" Lily's voice cracked as she screamed. "So you really love her." Harrance hesitated as her cries filled the air. Yet in front of everyone, he felt completely exposed. He was humiliated like a clown stripped bare. He stared at Lily while her tears flowed and said coldly, "Think whatever you want." He carried Clara and left the city wall without another word. Lily watched Harrance carry Clara away, disappearing from view. At that moment, her entire faith collapsed. Harrance loved Clara. He loved her. No matter how much he pretended. No matter how carefully he hid it. At some point, he had fallen for Clara, who could never match Lily. That was why he could leave Lily completely behind and carry Clara away at that moment. Lily no longer cried. She just watched through the thick curtain of tears as the man she loved walked away with the other woman. She could not cry anymore. Or maybe crying was pointless. Tears were only for the person you wanted to show them to. Otherwise, they were a joke. She refused to be a joke. She was a proud woman. Yet now, her heart felt hollow and painfully empty. Everything that had mattered to her was gone. "Do you want to come with me?" a clear voice suddenly asked in her ear. Ten minutes later, Harrance had arranged for Clara to be treated. He called the best doctors at East Sea Camp to attend to her. Finally, he found a brief moment to catch his breath. He lit a cigarette and called over his subordinates. He felt exhausted as he asked, "Where's Lily?"
