Theresa, the Doomsday Queen

Chapter 671 Digging for Survival

I'm not an idiot; we obviously have to follow Theresa now. We need to escape. After her instructions, everyone went to grab shovels to start digging. At this moment, Clara coquettishly said, "Harrance, I'm hurt. My waist hurts." "Then don't move. Rest on the side." "Rest my *ss." Before Harrance could finish, a commanding voice cut him off. Theresa, refusing to indulge anyone, said, "As long as you can breathe, you work!" Harrance's face darkened at her words. "Clara is badly injured; there's no need to make her work." "Why not? Because she is brazen, because she can cry, yell, and even try to steal someone else's partner?" At the words, Harrance could no longer restrain himself. "This is my personal matter; it's none of your business." "Indeed, it's none of my business. But your wife came to me, begging for your life. For you, she would have agreed to anything, even to sacrifice herself. "She worries you might die, can't sleep, yet still manages to support everyone at the base. Whatever you do with your new lover is none of my concern; your injuries aren't mine. I'm merely an outsider here. "But your love, your favoritism—none of that is my concern, either. Here, when I say everyone works, then everyone works. That's my rule!" Theresa spoke each word deliberately. Clara, listening to Theresa's forceful words, teary-eyed, clutched Harrance. "Harrance… she's targeting me…" "Go work." Harrance put her down. Whether it was the pressure from Theresa's aura or her words about Lily, his expression returned to normal. After putting Clara down, he picked up a shovel, handed one to Clara, and joined the digging crew. With no support, Clara gripped the shovel reluctantly, her body aching with pain. "Hurry up, Miss Side Chick." Theresa didn't give her the slightest respect, calling her directly by the provocative title. Clara's face reddened with frustration and humiliation. That nickname could drive her insane. How can Theresa be so rude—calling me a side chick?! Unfortunately, after being kicked and slapped by Theresa and with Harrance unable to help, Clara had no choice but to grumble and start digging. The kick she had taken today landed solidly on her waist; even walking hurt. Every movement with the shovel sent pain through her body. Clara suffered, but many people on site secretly enjoyed it. Especially Calvin. He had participated in several rescue missions. Once, Lily personally led the team. He had witnessed everything Lily did—begging, pleading for Theresa to come, struggling to defend the base. And yet, Harrance had an affair during that time! He had heard Clara, as the third party, shamelessly threatening Harrance in the secret room. For Calvin, seeing her managed at last was satisfying. Others in Harrance's team felt similarly. At least, in the matter between Clara and Lily, they were more sympathetic to Lily. Lily had been with Harrance for over a decade, married to him. Clara was clearly a brazen third party. But this was their leader's personal business; no one dared to say anything. Watching Clara dig, everyone else quietly focused on their own work. Three hours passed quickly. The tunnel was roughly half completed. By now, it was already late evening. Theresa checked her watch and grew increasingly concerned.Night was approaching. At this pace, they would likely have to spend the night here. "Everyone, take a meal first. Rest for half an hour, then continue." Theresa instructed. "Yes!" After hours of digging, plus a full day of combat, everyone was exhausted. Theresa distributed boxed meals from her domain. She also gave some to Calvin, who was guarding, and took the opportunity to check the zombie situation and reinforce the steel wires. On Harrance's side, the team paused as well. Unfortunately, no boxed meals were given to them. Theresa had only come to rescue them; she hadn't promised food. Harrance's team watched as the opposite group opened their boxes, revealing aromatic meals. Their eyes widened. "We want to eat too," Harrance said to Clara. "Clara, get the food out." Their supplies were all carried by the space-based ability user, Clara.
