Theresa, the Doomsday Queen

Chapter 659 Siege of East Sea Camp

Bennie let out a cold snort and pulled out a stack of files. "My people just finished compiling information on the other camps." "Wow, thanks for the hard work." Theresa took the neatly organized stack from him. Her super signal tower had broadcast plenty of diplomatic messages, and now more than half the camps had replied. Theresa planned to wait for a few more responses before bringing up the idea of collaboration. But soon, a particular report caught her eye. "Request for aid! Request for aid! Dear Ms. Hall, hello. We are East Sea Camp. First, thank you for your previous supply support, which got us through a crisis. But we've recently run into another extremely troublesome situation. Our camp leader is trapped deep inside Plankton City's underground parts depot. "That place is crawling with high-level zombies, Level 5 and above. Our camp is too weak to handle it. We urgently need you to send around ten of your strongest fighters to help us! If you can rescue our camp leader, East Sea Camp is willing to pay any price!" After Theresa finished reading the plea for help, Bennie spoke up. "Theresa, let's help them. Plankton City's underground parts depot is a military-grade storage site. It's full of top-of-the-line components. If we can get our hands on them, our weapons could jump an entire tier." Bennie sounded unusually generous. Normally, he would've kept his mouth shut about something like this. Whether outsiders lived or died had nothing to do with him. But right now, all he wanted was for Theresa to hurry up and leave! Stop causing me trouble inside the camp! After listening to him, Theresa's gaze fell on the words "Level 5 and above". That many high-level zombies? Up till now, she'd only run into a few high-level ones—never more than three in a single place. Even in F City, where toxic gas filled the air, there weren't many zombies above Level 5; most were only Level 3 or 4, but for a place like this? "Alright, I'll make a trip." Theresa was interested now. She wanted to see for herself what kind of place could spawn so many high-level zombies. When Bennie heard her agree, even someone as cold and aloof as he was couldn't stop the faint smile that tugged at his lips. But the very next second, he heard Theresa say, "While I'm gone, write up another hundred reports. Miss even one, and I'll beat you up when I get back." Bennie glared at her in silence. … Theresa headed out with a team. This time, she brought Kyle and Quentin, and also had Lucas call over Graham and a few of his special-ops members. That made a ten-person squad. Tyger stayed behind in her alliance base, sticking closely to Tania. Before leaving, Theresa set Tessa's program to top-priority mode. Anyone dangerous who wandered into her camp would be cut down on sight. Upon receiving the command, Tessa's eyes lit up. "Yes, Theresa!" After handing the camp over to Lucas, she boarded a helicopter and headed toward Plankton City's East Sea Camp, the one that had sent the distress call. Ever since she built the super signal tower, the messages she received had been crystal clear. No matter where she was, she could pinpoint the source of any signal with perfect accuracy. … By the time evening rolled around, Theresa had reached East Sea Camp deep within the mainland, surrounded by an endless sea of corpses. East Sea Camp was similar to Solan Camp—a barrel-shaped fortress. They had built tall walls to keep the zombies out. Unfortunately, Theresa arrived at the exact moment they were facing a full-scale zombie siege. Zombies swarmed from every direction, completely encircling the camp. On the northwest side, outside a damaged section of the wall, a mound of corpses had already risen seven or eight meters high. Their defensive wall was only nine meters. At this rate, the horde would break through the base today. "Rumble—!" "Boom—!" Massive boulders tumbled down from the top of the wall. Several primitive catapults had been set up inside the base, firing at full power as they hurled giant stones over the ramparts. The stones were effective at smashing apart the zombie "ladders", but the efficiency was painfully and far too slow! Of course, the ability users were helping as well, throwing every kind of power over the walls without holding back. Still, it wasn't enough to stop the endless waves of zombies. "Graaaar—!" A gaunt zombie shot out of the endless pile of corpses like a wild dog, sprinting with terrifying speed. It leapt from the top of the northwest corner, bounding like a leopard, and landed on the wall. Its T-shirt was torn to shreds, revealing its hollowed-out stomach and exposed ribs. Its entire face was grotesquely decayed, recognizable as human only by the glowing gray eyes that still held a trace of form. "Raaaar—!"
