Grief, Betrayals, and a Core of Blaze
The warm, familiar scent of the jacket enveloped Natalie, and she could no longer hold back, bursting into loud sobs. Baron heard Natalie cry and instantly forgot about punishing Jensen. He quickly turned and pulled Natalie into his embrace. "My Natalie, I’m so sorry. I came too late. Please don’t cry! I’ll tear that bastard Jensen limb from limb and feed him to the wolves later." Baron gently patted Natalie's back, filled with self-reproach. If I had arrived just a little earlier, would Natalie have been safe? Jensen, who had been beaten until he was nearly breathless, felt intense jealousy seeing the two of them embrace. Natalie was supposed to be his woman. Why was Baron now holding the woman who belonged to him? "Baron, go to hell!" A dagger silently slid down Jensen’s sleeve. He raised it and stabbed straight toward Baron... "Baron, watch out!" Since Baron had his back to Jensen, he didn't see the move at all. Natalie, who was facing Jensen, saw his malicious and hateful expression. The Jensen right now had undergone a massive change and was no longer the man she once knew. As soon as Natalie shouted, she pulled Baron, causing them to suddenly flip over. Their positions instantly swapped. With a soft, sickening thud, the sound of a blade entering flesh, Natalie's body slowly slumped down. Everything happened too fast, too suddenly; Baron couldn't react in time.By the time he realized what had happened, Natalie was already wounded and falling. Baron's eyes instantly turned crimson. "Natalie! Natalie!" Baron’s hand was covered in a warm, sticky fluid. He had witnessed countless bloody scenes in his life, yet he never imagined seeing so much blood flowing from Natalie. "Jensen, I'm going to kill you!" Baron’s eyes were like sharp arrows, aimed directly at Jensen. Natalie, however, clung tightly to his arm. She was in agonizing pain! It hurt so much that breathing felt difficult, yet she couldn't let Baron be hurt. "It's not worth dirtying your hands for a person like him. We still have our children." Natalie’s voice was faint; every word made the pain from her wound unbearable. Baron, a man over six feet tall, had tears welling up in his eyes, close to breaking down. "I don't care about children or anything else; I just want you. Why are you so foolish? Who told you to take that knife for me?" Baron wanted to scold Natalie fiercely, but looking into her eyes, he couldn't bring himself to do it. Natalie reached out and gently wiped the tears from his eyes. She whispered, "Baron, I don't think I ever told you this: I love you. I love you very, very much. I married you not to repay a debt, but because I like you. Maybe it was love at first sight, or maybe because you were the first man in my life, but I know I felt something for you right away. Otherwise, I wouldn't have given myself to you. Please forgive me for only realizing this clearly just recently." "It’s alright, hearing you say that in this lifetime is enough for me. Don't speak anymore, I’m taking you to the hospital!" Baron frantically tried to lift Natalie, but whether from fear or shock, his limbs felt weak. He was a force to be reckoned with across all powers in Country M, always triumphant, yet in front of Natalie, he felt so utterly helpless. What if Natalie loses too much blood? Baron’s tears finally streamed down. "Sweetheart, hold on, you must hold on!" He struggled to his feet, lifting Natalie into his arms, ready to run out, but Jensen blocked his path. Jensen never imagined Natalie would shield Baron from the dagger! He had been utterly convinced that Natalie married Baron only out of gratitude, but Natalie's action now shattered all his illusions. The Natalie who had once risked everything for him was truly gone. All her current selflessness was for this man named Baron! It shouldn't be this way! "Natalie! Why? Why would you shield him? Did you forget? You drank the amnesia drug I gave you! Why haven’t you forgotten him yet?" Baron was already intent on killing Jensen. Now, not only was he blocking their exit and delaying Natalie's treatment, but he was also spouting nonsense. Baron roared and delivered a fierce kick to Jensen's stomach. "You better pray my wife is alright, or I will tear you and your mother into a million pieces!"Baron finished speaking, holding Natalie, and rushed out. Jensen lay on the ground like a dead dog, his body aching badly, and his heart feeling as if a large, bleeding hole had been torn into it. He had a gut feeling that once Natalie left with Baron, there would be absolutely no chance left for him and her.
