Grief, Betrayals, and a Core of Blaze
It was rumored that before the execution, Hayes had requested a meeting with Baron, but Baron, who was abroad, outright refused the call. From the day Hayes drove him out of the Gunn family, he had stopped viewing the man as his father. It was said that in the end, a distant relative from the Gunn family collateral branch was the one who collected Hayes’s remains. Natalie was worried that Baron’s mood might be affected, so she was particularly doting on him recently. He was receiving the maximum amount of pampering from his wife and was starting to feel completely unmotivated to work. When they returned to Ocean City, Natalie still felt a little unaccustomed, but she was very happy to hear that Moses had improved significantly. Holt was also doing much better. After learning that Sean and Susie were back, he was in a wonderful mood and drew a picture for everyone. Natalie was greatly comforted to see Holt’s progress. Everyone was happily preparing for the family recognition dinner, and Jensen also received the news of Natalie’s return. Watching Natalie’s bright, unrestrained smile on the screen, Jensen’s eyes reddened. That look once belonged only to me, but now the person standing beside Natalie is Baron. Baron’s demeanor—looking as if he owned the whole world just by possessing Natalie—made Jensen extremely uncomfortable. Jensen somehow found Natalie’s current phone number and called it directly. Natalie was asleep, slightly fatigued from the long journey. When the phone rang, Baron, afraid of waking Natalie, immediately took the call out onto the balcony. He tucked a cigarette behind his ear.Ever since he found out Natalie disliked the smell of smoke, he had quit, though sometimes he still liked to take one out to smell it under his nose before tucking it away again. Seeing that it was Jensen calling, he couldn't help but let out a cold snort. Baron swiped the phone to answer. Jensen’s voice immediately came through. "Natalie, you’re back? Can we meet? Please. Can I just see you?" Jensen on the phone was incredibly humble, so much so that he was nothing like the former King of Ocean City. Baron chuckled coldly and said, "My wife is already pregnant, and you still haven’t let go?" This was purely to provoke Jensen, but Jensen took it seriously. "What did you say? Baron, you dared to get her pregnant?" "We are legally married, we have a marriage license. Isn't it normal for us to have a child? Or does Mr. Jensen think you still have a chance? Give up. You and my wife will never have a future together in this lifetime." Baron hung up the phone after speaking. Jensen’s hand holding the phone was white-knuckled, and his entire expression was terrifyingly dark. When Loretta walked in, this was the sight that greeted her, and her heart sank. "What’s wrong?" "Natalie is pregnant! Baron actually got her pregnant!" Jensen threw his phone down. "How can she be pregnant? She’s mine! She’s mine!"Feeling that Jensen’s emotions were unstable, Loretta quickly said, "Yes, yes, Natalie is yours, and no one can steal her. It’s just a pregnancy, right? Medical science is so advanced now, isn’t it easy to get rid of a child?" Jensen didn't respond to Loretta’s suggestion but instead looked pensive, an expression that made Loretta very uneasy. "Don’t do anything foolish, you hear me? Your mother promises you that I will make sure you and Natalie end up together." "Mom, did you get the memory loss drug you talked about?" Hearing Jensen ask this, Loretta quickly replied, "Almost. I’ve already contacted the seller, and they said the transaction is tonight." "No matter the cost, Mom, you have to help me buy this memory loss drug." Loretta quickly nodded at Jensen’s words. Seeing that he was calmer, Loretta went to get him something to eat. After eating, Jensen went to sleep. Seeing this, Loretta thought he was preparing for the next day's events and hurried out to buy the drug. However, she never imagined that as soon as she left, Jensen got up right behind her. He changed his clothes and left his current residence, quietly avoiding everyone before heading straight to Baron’s villa. Inside, Natalie had woken up after a nap and felt much more refreshed. When she got up, she noticed that the household was preparing dinner. Because of their return, Ruby was in good spirits, and Waylon decided they would have a couple of drinks tonight. Flynn was still at the company but was reportedly on his way back soon.Yvonne and Aiden called to say they wouldn’t come over tonight, but would show up for the family recognition dinner the day after tomorrow, as they were supervising the construction of the old family home. Susie saw Holt staring at the roses in the garden outside and wanted to go pick one. She trotted her little legs out of the living room and went directly into the garden.
