Grief, Betrayals, and a Core of Blaze

Chapter 586 The Man She Missed

Yulia had never seen Baron so devoted to anyone. When she was investigating Natalie, she had felt that Natalie was the one marrying up, and Yulia had planned to come and back Baron up. She'd assumed that Baron, having married into the Stone family, must be having a difficult life as a son-in-law. She never expected this to be the way Baron and Natalie interacted. She saw the love in Natalie's eyes and felt the happiness radiating from Baron. So, Baron had married Natalie willingly? It was not a choice made out of any other calculation? Yulia was caught off guard by this sudden realization. Baron knew Yulia was watching him, but he simply did not care. Yulia was just about the only person in the Gunn family with a decent moral compass. She was also Jonas's wife. For Jonas, Yulia had nearly torn the Gunn family apart, which was precisely why she had offended them, leading them to disregard her status and try to drag her back. Now, Jonas's injuries had healed, and he had been roped into being the vice president of Grant International Holdings by Baron. Baron was well aware of Jonas's feelings for Yulia, so he held no real malice toward her. Natalie could sense the shift in Baron's mood. As long as someone was not a threat to Baron, she would not truly target them. Seeing Yulia's fuming appearance, Natalie proactively took one of the crab roe buns from her own bag and offered it to her. "Do you want one?" "Yes." Yulia reached out to take it, only to have Baron intercept it."I bought these crab roe buns specifically for you. I waited in line for a long time, wifey. You don't even have enough for yourself, why give it to someone else?" Yulia was once again angered to the point of tears. "Baron, you bastard! I'm just eating one of your wife's crab roe buns, do you have to be like this? Big deal, I'll pay for it!" "All your accounts are frozen by the Gunn family. What are you going to pay with?" Baron kicked her while she was down. Yulia choked on his words, then sat angrily in her chair, weeping in solitude. "Even you bully me! There isn't a single good person in the Gunn family! Woo woo! I miss Jonas. If he were still here, he would never let anyone bully me! Woo woo..." The more Yulia cried, the more heartbroken she became. Even Natalie felt a pang of sympathy. "Baron, isn't this a bit much?" "Don't mind her. She'll stop when she's cried enough." Baron's indifferent attitude left Natalie completely unsure of what Yulia actually meant to him. She decided to just quietly eat her crab roe buns. Yulia smelled the aroma of the buns, and her stomach rumbled with hunger. Unfortunately, Baron showed not a shred of compassion. Yulia sat there, biting her cheek and shedding tears of anger. Seeing this, Baron pulled out his phone, aimed it at Yulia, and snapped a few photos. He then sent them off. "Oh my, look at this pitiful sight. Is this still the high-and-mighty young miss of the Gunn family?" After sending this text, Baron attached a location and tossed his phone aside. When Yulia saw Baron taking pictures of her, she immediately flared up. "Baron, you took my picture without my consent! You've violated my image rights! Give me a hundred bucks right now, or this isn't over!" "The grand young miss of the Gunn family, and your image rights are only worth a hundred bucks? Are you that cheap now?" Baron's sharp tongue was about to make Yulia die of anger. "You bastard!" Yulia felt even more aggrieved. Even Natalie felt Baron was going a bit too far. But Yulia was from the Gunn family, and Natalie had not personally experienced what Baron had gone through. She felt she had no right to judge Baron's attitude toward Yulia. Baron and Yulia engaged in a war of words, with Baron generally coming out on top, leaving Yulia so angry that her tears never stopped. About fifteen minutes later, the studio door was suddenly pushed open, and a man's voice cut through the air. "Baron, that's enough!" The familiar voice made Yulia's sobs come to an abrupt halt. She turned her head in disbelief, staring at the tall figure silhouetted against the light. Her eyes seemed to be glued to him. Natalie also looked over instinctively. She saw a man, around six-foot-one, backlit by the doorway. His deep-set features were unforgettable, but he exuded a cold aura identical to Baron's former self. "Who is he?" Natalie asked instinctively, only to have Baron immediately cover her eyes with his hand."Wifey, let's go for a walk. The kids are probably missing us. How about we go home?" With Baron's hand over her eyes, Natalie could not see a thing. But, understanding the intention behind Baron's little gesture, she could not help but smile.
