He Cheated. I Rose.

Chapter 292 The Live Apology

Chloe glanced toward the man named Jonathan, a slight smile touching her lips. "Launching now isn't just risky—it's way too dangerous," Wesley shot back immediately. "Look what's happening. The president of Myers Group is about to make a statement. Who knows what he'll say? There are reporters everywhere, even international press. If this goes badly, it'll make headlines worldwide." Wesley let out a heavy sigh. "If this situation explodes," he continued, "Ms. Lewis could end up forced out of LOVE. She might even have to leave Cosmos Group completely." At these words, Landon's eyes shifted toward Eugene, who hadn't moved a muscle. Eugene had been sitting perfectly still since he took his seat. He stayed quiet and calm, almost like he was watching a theater performance. His gaze kept drifting in Chloe's direction.Landon sighed. Eugene's motives were way too obvious. The way Eugene looked at Chloe—so full of adoration. Eugene knew exactly what was at stake for the company. Cosmos Group was already bleeding money. Pushing forward with LOVE's new collection now would toss Chloe directly into the storm. If things went south, she wouldn't just lose her position—Eugene, the main investor behind everything, would be pulled into the spotlight too. Plenty of senior executives at Cosmos Group had expressed their displeasure. If Arthur decided to stand with Jennifer now, Chloe—his actual ex-wife—would be labeled the "other woman" for good. Even if she tried to explain later, it would be too late. That's how public opinion works. Once you're forced to prove the rumors wrong, you've already lost. Landon had no idea if Eugene and Chloe had another plan. But Eugene paid his salary, so as an employee, he had to act like one. How could he question his boss? "Enough. It's just a live stream, and you're all talking this much? Quiet down and watch Arthur's performance..." Landon's voice was firm and left no room for argument. His sharp command silenced the room. With the sudden quiet, the conference room became completely still. The audio from the large screen grew even clearer. The noisy venue on the screen also fell silent at the same moment. Arthur raised his hand slightly, and the crowd quieted. Facing the cameras, Arthur spoke simply, "Thank you all for coming today despite your busy schedules. As president of Myers Group, I will now officially address everything that has been exposed online." Camera shutters went wild, all aimed at Arthur. The live stream zoomed in on him. The moment his handsome face filled the screen, comments exploded, and viewer numbers shot up from a hundred thousand, climbing fast. Arthur looked at the media. Just as everyone waited for his response, he suddenly leaned forward and bowed deeply. Reporters on site and the hundreds of thousands watching online were stunned. What was Arthur doing? Apologizing for taking up public attention with gossip about him? Shouldn't he be explaining things quickly? The topic had been trending for days. Everyone wanted answers. After bowing, Arthur straightened up. He let out a soft sigh and said seriously, "I'm sorry. I've been tied up with other matters these past few days. I've carefully read everything online, including all your comments." The scene went still. Everyone listened closely. "The earlier news about my engagement to Jennifer is true. I won't deny it." Arthur kept it simple. His tone held no apology, just a clear statement of facts. In the conference room, the live stream audience held their breath. Wesley was so worked up he nearly stood, but one look at Landon's face made him shut his mouth. The cameras stayed on Arthur, recording every word. The crowd began to murmur. It looked like today's press conference was Arthur standing up for Jennifer. If Arthur personally confirmed Jennifer was his fiancée, did that mean Chloe—the vague, messy woman—had really come between them? Chloe hadn't stepped forward to say a single word. No one had a clue where she was hiding now. She was probably deathly afraid of being proven a homewrecker, so she kept avoiding it. Just as reporters were about to rush out the story, Arthur spoke again. "I owe Chloe an apology. I caused her a lot of trouble. That's my fault. I shouldn't have let this get so out of hand. I'm sorry." Arthur bowed again, this time directly to the camera, as if bowing to the person watching through the screen.
