Chapter 254 Thirty Percent of Lewis Group

Chloe watched him and smiled faintly. "Since Mr. Lewis is letting me set the terms, I will." Scott remained silent, his face rigid. "Lewis Group was built by my mother and you together," Chloe continued. "Everyone at Lewis Group knows just how capable my mom was back in the day. Such a pity she died so young." Her lips curved slightly. "But she left 30% of Lewis Group's shares behind. As her only child, it's time I took back those shares." "What did you just say?" Scott stared at her, nearly losing control. "What are you talking about? Those shares have nothing to do with you! Who do you think—" "Oh?" Chloe raised an eyebrow, her eyes turning cold. Scott's expression tightened, and he immediately fell silent. "Mr. Lewis, shall I refresh your memory? My mother signed a share transfer agreement back then. The name written was 'Chloe'—not 'Scott,' and certainly not 'Carolyn' or 'Monique'." Scott gritted his teeth. His hand, hanging at his side, clenched into a tight fist. He'd held control of Lewis Group for years as chairman. This was the first time he'd been cornered like this. And the person doing it was his own daughter—the one he'd always ignored. Chloe knew everything. She knew he'd secretly changed Kristina's share transfer papers—the legal document that would take effect if anything happened to her. Back then, the board listened to whatever he said. He changed the agreement without anyone finding out. But Chloe mentioned it so casually, as if it were common knowledge. Had she been planning for this moment all along? Carolyn had clearly walked right into her trap. Looking at Chloe's calm face, Scott understood clearly. If he wanted Carolyn released today, he had to give in. Otherwise, she might never get out. His features hardened. After a long, tense silence, he lowered his voice. "I've been running Lewis Group from the beginning. As chairman, holding fifty percent is reasonable. How about this: I'll transfer ten percent to you, to make up for how I've failed you over the years. Carolyn and her mother together only have ten. You'd get ten percent all to yourself. That's more than fair." Chloe let out a frosty laugh. "How generous. But my mother's thirty percent belongs with me. And honestly, I wouldn't mind if you handed over another ten from your own twenty percent as well." "You—" Scott's jaw tightened. Anger burned inside him. Why had he ever brought this girl back? Why had Charles taken such an interest in her back then? This ungrateful woman was turning everything upside down. "Twenty percent. Not a single share more," Scott said, his voice thin and strained. Chloe ignored him. She pressed the intercom and gave an order. "Diana, send security up. Escort these uninvited guests out. I have other matters to attend to. No more interruptions." "Okay, Chloe. I'll call them right—" "Wait." Scott panicked. He stepped forward quickly and cut off the intercom. He stared at Chloe, his breathing uneven. "Fine. You win. Thirty percent of the shares will be transferred to your name. You drop the lawsuit and sign the letter of understanding. Carolyn walks free." Chloe looked up at him, a faint smile playing on her lips. Just then, her phone rang. It was an internal call from Diana. "Chloe, should I send extra security and have the trash removed?" "Not for now." Chloe ended the call. She turned to face Scott again, still perfectly calm. "Then let's sign the transfer papers. Your company lawyer is already downstairs, I assume?" Scott and Monique had come directly to her office—naturally they'd brought legal counsel. Once she withdrew the charges and wrote a letter of understanding, their lawyer would handle the notarization and rush to the police station to get Carolyn released. With everyone already present, things became much simpler. Sign the papers, and she'd give them the letter right away. Neat and straightforward. Exactly how she preferred to work. Scott's expression remained dark. He looked like he wanted to walk out, but held himself back. This girl knows too much—what else does she know? "Yes," he said, his voice tight with suppressed anger. "Then have your lawyer come up. Mine is already here. We'll get this done together. Once everything is signed, you'll have the letter and the withdrawal notice at once. You'll like how fast this goes." Chloe picked up her phone and called Zachary. "Time to work," she said flatly, though a trace of amusement colored her tone.Almost as soon as she hung up, the conference room door opened. Zachary walked in, dressed in a sharp suit and carrying a briefcase. "My dear, one more minute and I would have dozed off out there." Seeing Zachary, Scott's face turned even darker. This man had already appeared in front of him more than once.
