He Cheated. I Rose.

Chapter 230 The Forced Apology

Landon caught the words and lifted an eyebrow at Eugene. It seemed someone's journey of chasing love was strewn with obstacles at every turn. With Edwin taking the lead, the group moved to leave. "Hold on!" A young, clear voice cut through the noise. Immediately, everyone looked right at Robert. The boy stood there with an innocent expression, his head cocked slightly. He spoke calmly, "So they can just make false accusations and not even apologize? Didn't they say my mom and these security guards should beg for forgiveness? Now that everyone knows they were wrong, they don't need to apologize?" The head of security brightened up when he heard Robert's words, almost moved to tears. What a good kid—he remembered to stand up for them. Henry was already sweating heavily. His heart was pounding. Oh, god!Could the kid please not bring this up again? I've truly learned my lesson. Hearing Robert, Carolyn felt no guilt—only anger. How dare that brat mention it again and demand that I apologize? In his dreams. Even if she had to apologize, she would never apologize to Chloe. Say sorry to that woman? She'd rather choke. Everyone's gaze turned to Carolyn and Henry. They had been putting on an act together; now it was time to face the consequences. The crew members who were present also stared. They had just apologized to Chloe. The gifts were clearly from Chloe, but Carolyn had taken the credit, then said all sorts of nonsense about Chloe, openly making trouble for her. In the end, she became the joke herself. Now, the ones who should be apologizing were them. Sensing the shift in the atmosphere, Henry forced an awkward smile."Yeah, the kid is right. If you make a mistake, you should admit it." He glanced at Carolyn, gave her a meaningful look, and muttered a quick, low apology. Carolyn didn't move. She didn't even react. "Carolyn, apologize. Now," Henry said through gritted teeth. "I'll explain later. Don't make a scene right now. Just apologize." He knew better than to act up in front of Edwin—if he lost his position as a board member, the game was over. This couldn't get back to Tanya. If she found out, he was finished. If Carolyn kept this up, they would both be ruined. "Carolyn, apologize," Henry said loudly enough for everyone to hear. Carolyn's face turned to stone. She glared in Chloe's direction, her fists clenched so tightly her nails dug into her palms. Apologize? If she apologized to Chloe in front of everyone, she could forget about her future.No. She'd rather pay compensation than apologize. She could apologize to the security guards. But to Chloe? Never. "I'm not apologizing." Carolyn shot Henry a look full of resentment. "You caused all of this, and now you're telling me to say sorry? Who's going to apologize to me?" Henry's face darkened. He didn't say another word—he just slapped her hard across the face. "Apologize." Carolyn was stunned. "I said apologize. You made a mistake; you take responsibility. Are you deaf?" Henry growled, completely fed up. "I'll say it one more time. Apologize to Ms. Chloe Lewis. Right now." Carolyn staggered, clutching her stinging cheek, staring at him in disbelief. He had never hit her before. This was the first time—and in front of everyone. In that moment, all her pride was crushed. Her chest burned with humiliation, but the fury in Henry's eyes told her that if she caused any more trouble, they would both be finished. After a tense pause, Carolyn gritted her teeth and looked at Chloe. "Chloe, I'm sorry. I was wrong and caused all this trouble. I'm sorry. Please forgive me." "I'm sorry," she repeated, then bowed deeply. "Please forgive me." Her tone and posture were utterly sincere. Carolyn kept her head down, waiting for Chloe's response. But Chloe didn't even glance at her. She simply took Robert's hand and walked away. Eugene, Landon, and the others followed. Oralia told everyone to get ready for the preparatory work. After everything was settled, they got ready for the follow-up filming. Henry stood where he was, watching Edwin and Brian leave, finally letting out a sigh of relief. He turned back. Carolyn was still bent over, head lowered, waiting for a response. But Chloe was long gone.
