He Cheated. I Rose.

Chapter 220 The Humiliation to Come

Carolyn stared in disbelief as a staff member led Chloe and Robert straight into the VIP lounge—a space reserved only for the director and A-listers like Oralia. What was Chloe doing there? Had Henry completely misunderstood her instructions? She'd specifically told him to make things difficult for that woman and her son—to frustrate them so much they'd leave upset. She definitely hadn't asked for them to be treated like honored guests. Why were the staff being so polite to them? Something was wrong. Watching Chloe and Robert settle comfortably into the VIP area, her eyes turned cold. She'd make sure they regretted this soon enough. She'd show them exactly how much influence she really had in the entertainment industry. This was a level of status they could never hope to reach in their entire lives.Over in the VIP lounge, staff brought Chloe and Robert drinks and snacks. "Ms. Lewis, please make yourselves at home. Ms. Larson should arrive soon." "Okay." Chloe gave a small smile. Just then, her phone buzzed with a message from Eugene. He said they'd met Brian on the way and would arrive together. The gifts he prepared were already on their way to the set. He asked Chloe to let Oralia know and said he hoped she'd like them. Reading the message, Chloe raised an eyebrow. The richest man sure knew how to make an impression. Gifts for the whole crew? She wondered what he'd chosen. She usually didn't care much about these things, but now she felt curious about what Eugene had sent. "Chloe, how's the treatment from the Rebirth crew?" Carolyn walked over with a polished smile. Emily quietly pulled out a chair for her. Carolyn had convinced herself that Chloe's VIP treatment was all thanks to her. She'd told Henry to "arrange things," meaning security should give Chloe trouble. He must have misheard and thought they were her special guests. Hah. Chloe just got lucky. Look at her sitting there so calmly—and that kid beside her acting like he owns the place. As Carolyn sat down, her eyes fell on Robert. The boy hadn't even looked up since she arrived, completely absorbed in his tablet. Is this how Chloe raises a child? No wonder Madilyn always looks down on her. What could the kid possibly learn with a mother like that? Staring at a screen all day—he'll ruin his eyes. Disgust flashed in Carolyn's eyes. She raised her eyebrows. "Chloe, since you don't often visit a set, I had some snacks prepared. The fruit here is all imported. Go ahead, try some." Emily understood the signal and brought the fruit plate over to Chloe and Robert. It held four or five types of fruit, but none looked good—either too ripe or still unripe. "No, thank you." Chloe didn't even glance at the fruit. She put her phone away and gave Robert a look. He'd been using his tablet to dig up cast gossip, so she tapped his head lightly with her fingers. "Mommy!" Robert complained, annoyed. "That's not for you to look at," Chloe said, her voice calm but firm. Rubbing his head, Robert pouted. "Fine! I'm just bored!" He felt wronged. He'd been right in the middle of some interesting secrets. Watching them, Carolyn let out a quiet, disdainful sniff. Sure enough, no matter how special Chloe's status is, she is still crude at heart. She still uses violence to discipline her child. What future can a little rascal have from staring at a tablet? Who is Chloe putting on this act for right now? With a mother like that, who knows what Robert will turn into?"Chloe, come on, try some. It's special supplies for the crew," Carolyn said with a light smile. "Are you still upset with me? I thought you came to visit so we could make up." Emily stood to the side, staring at the fruit plate. Her idol kept pushing Chloe to eat, but the truth was, those were just leftovers—scraps from the platters prepared for others. Carolyn had dressed it up nicely and was now telling Chloe to "enjoy" them. Emily wanted to warn Chloe not to eat it. But Carolyn was her idol. She'd supported her for so long, and Carolyn rarely asked for favors. If this was how she wanted to deal with Chloe, Emily felt she had to go along with it.
