Chapter 215 The Naming of Moon

Chloe stuck with her white horse. The crowd favorite, Gale, was given to Eugene. Bruce and Sam selected their own horses. Joseph, acting as referee, repeated the rules: three laps around the track, first across the finish line won. Everyone got into position. Chloe and Eugene ended up side by side at the starting line. Chloe looked over at Gale beneath Eugene, then patted her own horse's neck. "See that one next to us? He's the star here. You beat him, and you're the new star." Eugene couldn't help but laugh softly at her words. "Then you better go all out." Chloe raised an eyebrow, gave her horse a final pat, tightened her grip on the reins, glanced at Eugene with a smile, and focused forward. The moment the starting signal sounded, all the horses surged forward. Gale burst out first, immediately taking the lead. From its explosive start to its powerful strides, it was clearly in a class above the others. Bruce's horse settled into second place, with Landon close behind. Landon urged his horse on, pushing hard. His plan was to pass Bruce first, then Eugene. If he could pull that off, he'd have a real shot at winning. He was already dreaming about the prize. If he won, he'd ask Eugene for three months of paid vacation. The perfect plan. But before Landon could enjoy that thought for more than a few seconds, a flash of white streaked past him, leaving him behind effortlessly. "What the...?" Landon blurted out, spurring his horse to chase, but the gap only widened. Why was Chloe's horse so fast? And her riding skills... she was clearly a professional. This wasn't fair. Landon watched as Chloe flew past Bruce, that white blur now setting its sights directly on Eugene. Gale, under Eugene's control, was a powerhouse, blazing past the halfway mark without slowing down—if anything, picking up speed. By the end of the second lap, Chloe's horse had caught up to him. When Eugene saw Chloe next to him, his smile widened. The two riders pushed their horses, running neck and neck, both determined to be the first across the line. Halfway through the final lap, Landon was far behind. Bruce tried to close the distance, but no matter how hard his horse struggled, it couldn't catch the two figures—one black, one white—racing ahead. Chloe kept her horse steady, maintaining its speed. The finish line was coming up fast. Eugene kept perfect pace with her, stride for stride. A smile touched Chloe's lips. In the final split second at the line, she urged her horse forward, crossing cleanly. Almost simultaneously, Eugene and Gale leaped across as well. The two horses crossed the finish line practically as one. It was impossible to tell who won just by looking. Landon, having given up his own sprint, had stopped to watch the two leaders finish their duel. Seeing them cross together, he couldn't help but sigh in admiration. When nature was handing out talent, these two must have gotten the premium package. After crossing the line, Chloe slowed her horse and turned to the man beside her, a playful smirk on her lips. "Thanks for the sport." Eugene smiled softly. "Your wish is my command." Chloe's smile deepened. She guided her horse back toward the rail. Joseph stood waiting there. As she neared, he nodded in approval. "This horse never had a name. You're its first rider. You should be the one to name it." Chloe ran a hand down the horse's neck, her eyes fixed on its snow-white mane. "Let's call it Moon." "That's a perfect name," Eugene commented. Joseph chuckled. "Moon suits it well! Congratulations on your win. As the winner, you may claim your request from the losers." "The rest of us got left in the dust. We didn't even properly finish," Landon groaned. "Chloe, you and Eugene were the only real contenders. Since Eugene lost to you, you should make your request to him! He's loaded and loves spending money. Ask him to transfer you some serious pocket money!" Chloe glanced at Eugene, raising an eyebrow. "Not a bad idea. Would you mind?" Eugene smiled easily. "A bet is a bet. Name your price." He already had his phone out, ready to make the transfer, making Landon gasp dramatically on the side. Chloe stopped him. "This opportunity's too good to waste. I'll save it for later—I'll bring it up when I know exactly what I want." She slid off the horse, handed the reins to a staff member waiting nearby, and gave Moon a final loving pat. The horse, now with a name, had lost some of its wildness, appearing noticeably calmer. "I've got our relaxation spot all sorted! Let's head to the next spot!" Landon called out cheerfully, waving for everyone to follow him.
