He Cheated. I Rose.

Chapter 133 A Scene

The moment Chloe walked away, whispers erupted everywhere. People were trying to identify which designer had created her gown and where they could get something similar. Yet when Jennifer wore her limited edition dress, nobody gave her a second glance. How infuriating! Putting on an act, Jennifer exclaimed, "Arthur, look! It's Chloe! She came!" Arthur didn't respond. His gaze remained fixed on the entrance where Chloe had just appeared. Chloe made an entrance like a celebrity, surrounded by big shots. If Arthur wasn't mistaken, Joseph had paused after entering, turned around, and said something to their group with a smile. Was he speaking to Chloe? Or to those two men? Either way, Joseph was positioned directly in front of Chloe."Arthur, Chloe and Mr. Slade seem quite close," Jennifer added at precisely the right moment, her voice low enough only for him to hear. Hearing Chloe's name linked with Joseph's felt like an electric shock to Arthur—sharp, unexpected, and leaving a lingering tingle of anger. Chloe was his wife, yet here she was, dressed to impress and standing beside Joseph for everyone to see. Joseph was in his seventies, a living legend in Capaville, revered by most. Arthur remembered Chloe's past sarcastic remarks. Was this her idea of revenge? Throwing herself at a man old enough to be her grandfather? The thought made Arthur's blood boil. He pushed Jennifer aside and stormed straight toward Chloe. "Arthur!" Jennifer called after him, but it was pointless. Arthur's jaw was set, his steps heavy and unyielding, and he wasn't stopping for anyone. As Arthur marched toward Joseph's group, Madilyn would normally have been pleased. But with Chloe standing there, she knew Arthur only had eyes for that woman. "Stop him, quickly! Don't let him make a scene!" Madilyn shouted at Jennifer, her voice tight with panic, before spinning on her heel and rushing after Arthur herself. Landon's gaze swept leisurely over the bustling crowd, a faint, satisfied smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. He noted with amusement how every eye in the room was glued to Chloe—more specifically, to the gown she wore. That idea was totally on point—for LOVE's launch of the Four Seasons collection, this was the perfect start. "That dress looks incredible on you. You're the ideal model. Do well tonight and I'll give you a bonus," Landon whispered as he leaned closer. Chloe smiled. "You're a generous boss! I'll have to work even harder then." "Absolutely," Landon replied. He then cleared his throat and moved to join Joseph, who was greeting other guests.Chloe felt numerous eyes upon her—from both men and women—but she simply returned each gaze with polite, graceful composure. "Chloe!" An angry male voice cut through the air. Before Chloe could turn, someone grabbed her wrist violently. The next moment, she was yanked forcefully against Arthur's chest. Arthur locked his arm around Chloe's waist, his grip on her wrist so tight she couldn't break free. "Chloe, is this how you get back at me?" Chloe frowned at the furious man before her. "Arthur, what's wrong with you? Let me go!" She tried to pull away, but Arthur was too angry. He squeezed so hard she thought her wrist might snap. "You left me just to degrade yourself like this? All for money? Have you no self-respect?" Arthur snarled at Chloe. "Is this the example you want to set for Robert? I'm warning you, if you break our agreement, I have every right to revoke my promises. You don't deserve to fight me for custody of Robert." Arthur's accusations grew increasingly absurd. Chloe had heard enough. She pushed against him, trying to break free, but he held fast. "Answer me!" Arthur demanded. Chloe stared coldly at the arrogant man before her and laughed scornfully. "Arthur, is that really what you think of me?" Arthur froze for a second, his eyes locked on Chloe's face. What kind of person was Chloe? Her beautiful features were so close now, and for a moment, Arthur felt disoriented. He realized he'd never truly looked at her properly before. Right now, he couldn't deny how breathtaking she was. "So in the eyes of the great CEO of Myers Group, I'm just that kind of woman, am I?" Chloe's voice turned icy. "I guess leaving you was the smartest decision I ever made." "What?" Arthur was stunned long enough for Chloe to wrench her hand free. "Get away from me!" Chloe snapped, turning to leave. "Don't you walk away from me! We're not finished here! Stay where you are!" Arthur stormed after her, reaching out to grab her again. At this point, Arthur didn't care about their surroundings. All he knew was that Chloe had crossed a line, and as her husband, he had to put a stop to it.
