She leaned down and gave his pallid face a gentle kiss. He didn't stir. Silas slid in just as she was done checking on him. "I'll keep vigil today," he whispered to Marcus. "You should have breakfast with Emma." Marcus nodded and followed Emma out. When they were gone, Calum lingered behind and whispered, "Who are you planning to assign to accompany Ms. Tibarn tonight?"
