The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands

Chapter 497 Disgusting Chitnids

"Calum has already gone after them. We'll probably hear from him soon." Emma nodded in relief. However, she quickly froze as he grabbed Silas by the ribbon around his neck and demanded frantically, "Calum saw you like this, too?" By the Beast God, could it be that everyone had seen him like this? "No! No, he was already gone by the time I left the premises." Emma instantly let out a sigh of relief. "I don't care what you do, but I don't want him to see you like this." She hadn't prepared a gift like this for Calum just yet. They weren't mates yet, so she didn't know him well enough. She was worried he would find this a little too much. After all, the last set of sleepwear he wore wasn't anywhere near this bold. Frankly, the one she gave Edric wasn't as daring as Silas'.Emma stopped messing around with Silas. She quickly got dressed and washed up. Calum had already returned by the time she was done getting ready for the day. Once she saw that he was safe and sound, she inquired, "Calum, Silas said there was an unusual energy disturbance earlier. Did you find anything?" "I caught a few Chitnids." Calum grinned, all teeth. "I interrogated them on the way back. They've been hiding around here to abduct pregnant females." "Pregnant females?" Emma frowned in confusion. "What would they want with pregnant females? They didn't manage to abduct anyone, did they?" "They actually did manage to capture one." Calum took her hand and soothed her, saying, "Don't worry. I rescued her. She's back with her mates now." Emma relaxed once she heard the female was safe. However, she still couldn't understand why the Chitnids would do such a thing. "Why would the Chitnids abduct pregnant females?" Calum hesitated, trying to come up with an explanation that wouldn't scare her into having nightmares later. Alas, Edric interjected before he could gently open her eyes to the horrors of reality. "The Chitnids have very few females. As a result, they'll use any means necessary to abduct females. "And they target pregnant females because they believe those females are fertile. Is that why this is happening?" Calum nodded. "Exactly." Those Chitnids were abducting pregnant females to turn them into breeding machines. "That's horrible." Emma suddenly recalled the grotesque creature she had once seen. She could still remember as clear as day that its entire face was practically covered with eyes. Sure enough, a wave of nausea surged up her throat. She paled and quickly covered her mouth.Edric and Calum both started losing their minds. "Emma, what's wrong? Do you feel sick again?" "I'll get Alaric," Edric blurted urgently. "No! Don't!" Emma grabbed him before he could leave. "I'm fine. I just remembered that one Chitnid. You know, the one with the eyes? It grossed me out." She steadied herself. Soon, her nausea faded. They only relaxed once they realized she was truly fine. Then, Edric said, "Emma, breakfast is ready. We can head back to Central Planet after you're done with breakfast." Emma nodded. "You can serve the food now. I'll go check on Lucien." "I'll go with you," Calum said quickly. She didn't refuse. Before she left, she leaned in and planted a quick kiss on Edric's cheek. "Thanks, Edric. I'll leave breakfast to you."He smiled. "It's no trouble. I'll bring it right over." Calum was stunned. Did Edric just get a kiss for bringing Emma breakfast? Seriously? Just then, Emma turned and kissed Calum on the cheek as well. His head snapped to her, his eyes turning as wide as saucers. Emma just kissed him. Again. "Thank you for hunting the Chitnids down so early in the morning." Then, she tugged his hand as she led him to Lucien's room. "It's nothing, Emma. Truly." If he could get a morning kiss with every hunt, then he'd happily hunt those Chitnids to the ground. … Lucien's room was dead silent. Marcus was still fast asleep when Emma entered the room. Lucien hadn't woken yet.Nonetheless, Marcus' eyes snapped open the second he heard the door creak open. When he saw her, he quickly sat up and whispered, "Ms. Tibarn." Emma shushed him as she tiptoed over to the bedside. Lucien, who had been suffering last night, only managed to fall asleep deep into the night. Her presence made him feel safe, so he didn't wake. She leaned down and gave his pallid face a gentle kiss. He didn't stir. Silas slid in just as she was done checking on him. "I'll keep vigil today," he whispered to Marcus. "You should have breakfast with Emma." Marcus nodded and followed Emma out. When they were gone, Calum lingered behind and whispered, "Who are you planning to assign to accompany Ms. Tibarn tonight?"
