The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands

Chapter 492 Primary Mate Perks

"Okay. I'll retire for the night now. I'll visit you first thing in the morning." Emma had been more prone to fatigue ever since she became pregnant. Since her symptoms had been transferred to Lucien, she naturally assumed that he was suffering something similar. So, she promptly left after making sure he was fine. Lucien climbed out of bed and rushed to the bathroom the second she was out of his sight. Marcus watched him scramble away with a helpless sigh on his lips before following him. … Meanwhile, Calum and Corvin had cornered Silas in Calum's room. The atmosphere between the trio was thick with tension. Calum crossed his arms as he loomed over Silas, questioning sharply, "Silas, what's today's schedule like?" His voice was low and stern as he scrutinized Silas. "Lucien isn't doing too hot at the moment. Marcus has to take care of him tonight, so he won't be available to accompany Emma tonight." Calum shot a look at Corvin. "So that means that Edric, Corvin, you, and I are the only possible candidates." Corvin's eyes immediately lit up with hope. He grinned. "Why don't we let Emma choose?" He wasn't going to suggest drawing lots. He hadn't been able to spend the night with Emma in ages because of his cursed luck. Plus, she'd definitely pick him if he wheedled hard enough. Silas arched a brow as he looked at the two males before him. Then, he curled his lips into a smirk as he asked, "Have you two forgotten what day it is today?" "The third," Corvin blurted. Calum frowned as he looked at Silas in confusion. The third? What did that have to do with anything? Wait!It was the third! Both he and Corvin froze. Silas, as Emma's primary mate, would accompany her on the first and last three days of the month. "Silas gets to hog Emma tonight," Corvin grumbled bitterly, shooting Silas a jealous glare. Why was Silas so d*mn lucky? Although he didn't want to be Emma's primary mate, he couldn't deny the fact that he definitely wanted its benefits. Silas' smile deepened in the face of his jealousy. "As her primary mate, the first and last few days of each month belong to Emma and me. So, you two don't have to worry about a thing." Calum pursed his lips. He wanted to go back in time and give himself a good wallop on the head. He'd repeatedly declined Lucien's offer when he had chosen to hand him the primary mate role. He had mistakenly assumed that it was just an empty title. So, he never imagined that being Emma's primary mate was a position that yielded many benefits. As a result, he was practically swimming in a pool of his bitter regret. He would've never turned Lucien away if he'd known what he was giving up. Just then, the door swung open. Emma smiled at them as she stood by the door. "Silas, I'm sleepy. Would you care to join me?" According to the rules, Silas should be the one accompanying her tonight. She'd drawn the line, so of course, she was going to be proactive when obeying those lines. Silas immediately rose to his feet and walked to her side, supporting her gently. "I picked the east room. I'll lead the way." His eyes softened with love as he gazed at her gently. He naturally wrapped an arm around her waist, supporting most of her weight as they ambled away."You should lean on me more. It'll be more comfortable for you that way," Silas murmured as he guided her out. The door swung close behind them, cutting off Calum and Corvin's resentful glares. Corvin collapsed onto Calum's bed in despair. "Why are we even competing at this point? This is obviously mission impossible times infinity." Calum's jaw clenched as he grounded out, "We still have to try." That way, they would at least have a chance at changing their situations for the better. "Today is the third. Didn't Ms. Tibarn say the first and last three days belong to Silas? Silas will have no excuse to hog her tomorrow." Corvin shot right up. "You're right! We've all got a chance tomorrow!" Then, he asked Calum, "Do you have a plan? Back when Lucien was primary mate, he would arrange a schedule for us, or we drew lots." Corvin had never won first pick in both scenarios. So, he was desperate to win a chance to accompany Emma tomorrow. What can I do to turn things in my favor? … In the meantime, Silas was carefully supporting Emma as they walked into the room he had chosen for the night. Soon, the door closed behind them with a soft click. Silas gently turned her around as vines unfurled across the floor. Then, he braced her against a wall that he'd taken great pains to cover in soft, living vines. His movements were tender and cautious as he did his best to prevent her from bumping into anything. He had one arm bracing against the wall as he caged her in while his other arm tightened slightly around her waist, his fingers pressing against her silky skin.
