The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands

Chapter 491 Slow and Steady

"Emma!" Corvin happily called out to Emma the second he saw her, immediately releasing Alaric. Then, he continued, "Remember when I told you that my studio has been trying to hire some new employees? Well, it hasn't been going well, but Alaric just told me he knows someone good." "Is that so?" Edric, who had accompanied Emma, shot a look at Alaric when he heard that. He said to Corvin, "Then, you'd better thank Mr. Wynn for his help." "Of course." Corvin nodded seriously. "I'll definitely give him a gift basket once the contract is signed." "Emma." Alaric stepped forward and held out his hand to her. "I just came to give Lucien a check-up. Since you're here, there's no need for me to make a separate trip for you. Give me your hand. I'll transfer some ability to you. Your condition will be stable after one transfusion." Emma didn't want to trouble him too much, so she nodded and placed her hand in his palm. Alaric's warm fingers wrapped gently around her hand.… A second later, a stream of warmth flowed from Alaric's fingertips into her body. Emma instantly felt her muscles relax. "Thank you, Alaric." "There's no need for you to stand on ceremony." Alaric withdrew his hand and looked at her, saying in concern, "You're pregnant right now. You need to be extra careful from now on. Remember to eat a balanced diet, specifically more energy-rich foods. However, be mindful to avoid anything too greasy." He continued gently, "Try to keep your mood up. A happy mother means a happy baby. If you feel unwell or crave anything, you must tell me right away. You don't have to worry that you're being a burden." He fell into contemplative silence before adding solemnly, "You're with child. Your health is of utmost importance." Emma nodded earnestly. "I understand." Edric remained silent while they conversed. A flicker of something indecipherable flashed in his eyes as he turned to look at Alaric. He had to admit that Alaric possessed skills that the rest of them didn't have. After all, it wasn't a bad idea to have a doctor as one of Emma's mates. Alaric gave Edric an almost imperceptible glance. Then, he smiled at Emma. "It's time for me to go. Stella still needs me." He was tactful enough not to linger. Instead, he merely graced her with a slight smile before leaving. Alaric knew very well that slow and steady won the race. Emma headed straight to Lucien's room as soon as Alaric departed. She'd seen Alaric step out of those doors earlier. So, she couldn't help but worry that Lucien was suffering from nausea. On that ground, she carefully pushed the doors open. The room was quiet. Marcus was lounging on the couch with his eyes closed. Lucien was leaning against the headboard. There was a thin blanket over him. However, it only highlighted his sickly pallor. He looked like he was a gust of wind away from scattering into withered petals. He was holding a green fruit and nibbling at it. Honestly, it looked like he was forcing himself to eat. Marcus immediately jerked to his feet when Emma walked in. "Ms. Tibarn, why are you here?" "I came to check on Lucien," she answered as she hurried over to Lucien's side. Lucien set the fruit aside and squeezed a faint smile on his face. "Emma, I'm fine." "You look like death has warmed over. How can you say that you're fine?" Emma reached out and caressed his cheek, heart aching. "I saw Alaric leave just now. Were you feeling sick again?" "No." He shook his head. "Alaric was just giving me a quick checkup. He left once he saw that my vitals were fine." Then, he showed her the fruit he was holding."I can keep my food down now. So, don't worry. I feel much better than before." Emma had noticed the fruit the moment she walked in. "Is that all you've been eating?" He was a male. Therefore, it also meant that he had a voracious appetite. There was no way one fruit was enough for him. As a result, she knew that he was suffering because of her suffering. That realization only made her heart ache more. "I'm not really that hungry at the moment." Lucien tried to sound relaxed as he added, "Don't worry about me. I'm fine, really. Alaric said that what I'm experiencing is normal. He also said that the nutrient fluids will be enough for now. I'll be fine after your first trimester." Emma reached into her storage band and took out several more fruits. She'd chosen the ones Calum and Corvin had given her. "These are for you. I can eat now, so I don't need these all that much."She didn't believe for a second that nutrient fluids would be enough to feed him. So, she couldn't help but try to offer Lucien a selection of fruits since he could stomach them now. "Alright." Lucien didn't decline her offer. "Emma, it's getting late. You should rest. Marcus will be keeping watch, so I'll be fine. Plus, I'm beat. I need my beauty sleep," he joked. He was feeling sick again, but he was doing his best to tamp it down. After all, he didn't want to worry her. Emma didn't push, especially after hearing that he was worn out.
