The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands
"I need to find my match," she said anxiously. After speaking, she raised her hand and touched the center of Drake's forehead with her cool fingertip. Compared to before, Emma's mental power was even purer. This time, the session to comfort Drake lasted a full twenty-five minutes. When Emma finished, she still felt alert and clear-headed. It seemed her mental consciousness had grown again. Drake looked completely relaxed. He leaned back in his crystal chair. His dragon tail was wrapped around Emma's waist, and both horns on his forehead were showing. Emma wanted to find Damian and Edric as soon as the session ended. She got up to leave right after finishing, but Drake's tail was still wrapped around her waist. She tried pulling several times, but the black tail didn't move. She could only look helplessly at the man sitting there looking so at ease. "I've already finished. I need to go now. Can you please stop wrapping your tail around me?" Drake opened his dark eyes and took out a black crystal from his ring, handing it to her. It was the same crystal he had tried to give her last time. Back then, Emma didn't take it. This time, though, the crystal seemed to have changed. Inside the black crystal, golden light swirled around, looking beautiful yet dangerous. "Take it," Drake said. "I added something to it. If you run into a Rank 11 Chitinid or beast again, throw this at it. Even if it doesn't kill them, it'll give you a chance to escape." "This thing sounds pretty strong. You're just giving it to me like that?" Emma looked at him. To be honest, after facing the Rank 11 Chitinid, she had been scared. She really wanted the crystal he was giving her. She just didn't know what his motive was. Other than calming his mental power, she didn't have anything to trade with him. "What else would I do?" Drake asked. "You still have to help me with the mental comforting. I can't let you die that easily. You need something to protect yourself." He couldn't count on those two useless ones. He was leaving soon and wouldn't be around to protect her, so the only thing he could do was give her something that could save her life when needed. "Thanks," Emma said. She didn't act politely this time and quickly took the black crystal from him. "I'll keep this for now. If I run into danger and have to use it, fine. But if I don't, I'll return it to you when our deal ends." "I don't take back what I've given," Drake replied. "If you don't want it later, just throw it away."After that, he withdrew his tail, straightened his clothes, and stood up from the chair. "It's about time. I need to go." Emma quickly followed him out of the rest pod. Outside, the forest was pitch black. She took out her night-vision goggles and put them on. "It's late. I'm going to find Edric and Damian. See you." She picked up Lucien, who was hiding by the door, and left quickly. Drake watched her walk away without looking back. His sharp eyes narrowed dangerously. That little female really had no feelings for me at all. Was I too harsh with her? His subordinate, who had been waiting nearby, came forward right away. "Mr. Smith, we've already contacted Edric and Damian. They'll be here soon to pick up Ms. Emma Tibarn." Hearing that, Drake put away the rest pod. He used his mental power to shield Emma and sent her safely toward Edric and Damian before leaving with his men. Emma had no idea what he did. She carried Lucien for more than an hour before she ran into Edric and Damian rushing her way. The huge purple-black snake saw her and instantly swung its tail through the air, wrapping her up gently and holding her close. "Emma, I finally found you," Edric said, looking at her messy, tired appearance, and he felt his heart ache. "I'm sorry. It's my fault for not protecting you. Let me see if you're hurt." "I'm fine now," Emma replied. She could feel how frightened and worried he was, so she hugged him tightly. "Don't worry. On my way back, I ran into Drake. He gave me a potion, and all my injuries are healed." Damian stood to the side, watching them hug. His eyes were full of envy. He wished she would hug him, too, but she didn't really like him. He took out a bottle of high-grade potion, but after hearing Emma say she had already taken the one Drake gave her, he stayed quiet and put it away. Forget it. As long as she is safe, nothing else matters. Drake actually came? Edric frowned a little. After Emma went missing, he and Damian sent people to the villa for Drake's help. Yet, they came back saying Drake wasn't there, so he already knew what had happened and came to the forest right away. Still, since he found Emma, how could he just leave her alone in the forest again?
