The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands
"I don't need you swearing to the Beast God. Just say it, and I'll believe you." Lucien said, picking up the chain Emma had tossed onto the bed. Emma looked at him warily. "What are you doing? You're not planning to lock me up again, are you? That chain can't hold me anymore." "It can't hold you anymore." Lucien looked at her, then opened his palm. Out of nowhere, a burst of dazzling golden flames shot up from his hand. In the next second, the chain dissolved into shimmering golden sparks in his palm and vanished into the air without a trace. "Emma, from now on, I won't ever use anything to lock you again." The only thing that could ever hold her isn't the chain. It's me… my heart! After saying that, Lucien handed Emma her lightcore back. "I figured you'd be afraid Silas and the others are worried, so here you go. It's yours again." Anyway, I don't have many days left. Thinking it through, if Emma reaches out to Silas and the others now, by the time Marcus and Calum get here, I should be going. Emma stared at the lightcore in her hands and felt the corner of her mouth twitch. Kid, you should've handed it over earlier. Then I wouldn't have to get up so early, rush out to borrow someone else's lightcore, and reach out to Silas and the others. Emma slipped on the lightcore, then wrapped her arms around Lucien's neck and pressed a firm kiss to his cheek. "I knew my Lucien was the best. Wait here, I'll make you something delicious." Lucien held her waist tight, not letting go. "I'm coming with you." He didn't want to be apart from her for even a second. The best thing would be if they just stayed like this, stuck together forever. Emma didn't push him away. She just led him straight to the bathroom. … Meanwhile, Silas had been silent ever since Emma called him on a video call using someone else's lightcore.Corvin glanced at him, puzzled. "Emma said we don't need to rush to find her. Why didn't you tell Calum and Marcus?" Emma explains that she's safe with Lucien, though he has some issues. She needs a few more days to stay with him. Once Lucien gets better, she'll come back with him, and we won't need to worry. After seeing that Emma was fine, finally let Corvin breathe. His heart, tense all those days, finally relaxed. But Lucien is seriously infuriating. He actually sneaks Emma away. How does he even pull that off? Silas shot Corvin a glance and said, "Emy being with Lucien isn't exactly dangerous. But there's no way he can watch her every second. Mistakes happen. Let's have Calum and Marcus head over early. They don't even need to show themselves. Just having them nearby keeps Emy safe." "Exactly!" Corvin said, eyes wide with admiration. "How did I not think of that? You're seriously on top of things." Silas ignored him. Emy has to use someone else's lightcore to contact me. That means her own isn't on her. D*mn, Lucien, he actually took her lightcore away, too.Silas thought for a moment and then shot Calum a message. 'Find Emy. Don't show yourself—just keep an eye on things from the shadows. Also, take Lucien down somewhere she can't see. You're closer to the outer, so it's easier for you to make a move.' … "Lucien, I heard there's a big bonfire tonight. Let's go check it out together." Emma typed quickly to a new friend while glancing over at Lucien, who was busy packing. She and Lucien had been at Z-1689 for five days now. During the day, she dragged him out for fun, and at night, she worked on clearing the black fire that had been burning in the plumage on his forehead. After days of Emma's relentless effort, the dark flames on Lucien's forehead were almost completely gone. Lucien no longer carried that dark, brooding aggression he had at first. The red, obsessive glint in his eyes had faded completely. He was calmer, gentler, and when he looked at Emma, his gaze was soft and clear, even warmer than it had been before Pyreborn. He seemed more controlled, too, like there was more depth to him, someone it was hard to read thoroughly.Emma watched him bend over, silently packing, and then got up and walked over. She waved her hand in front of his face. "Lucien? Did you hear what I just said?" "Huh?" Lucien snapped back to the moment and looked up at her. His voice was soft. "Emma, what did you just say? Sorry, I was thinking about something else and spaced out." Emma stared at him and pinched his cheek. "What could be so important that you didn't even listen to me?" "N-Nothing…" Lucien shook his head and quickly stuffed the items into the storage band. Then he hurriedly changed the subject. "Emma, what did you just say? Can you say it again?" Emma repeated, "I said there's a bonfire tonight. Let's go have fun together." "Okay!" He nodded with a smile. "I'll pack a few things you like to eat so we can enjoy them tonight."
