The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands
Emma instinctively moved her wrist, getting ready to get out of bed, when a sharp clinking sound rang out. The metallic clash sounded painfully loud in the otherwise silent room. Emma snapped her head down, her eyes going wide. She saw a delicate gold chain locked around her slender left wrist. The other end of the chain was fixed tightly to the cold metal post at the head of the bed. Emma was speechless. She… she had been locked up? Who did this? It definitely wasn't Silas. He wasn't into anything like this. Edric wouldn't do it either. Calum? They weren't even officially bonded yet. He wouldn't dare. Was it Marcus? No, Marcus didn't like tying people up. Emma lifted the covers and found that her ankles were shackled with the same kind of chains. The chains left enough room for her to move around on the bed, even get to the window a short distance away, but there was absolutely no way to leave the room. Who could have done this? Creak! Just then, the door swung open softly. Emma whipped her head around. A tall, lean figure walked in against the light, carrying an ornate breakfast tray. "Lucien?" Emma stared at the man walking toward her in shock. She had guessed Silas, or maybe Calum, Marcus, or Edric, but never him. "It's me."Lucien set the tray down on the table. He came over and gently brushed the hair from Emma's face, tucking it behind her ear. Emma looked at him, frowning. He was the same on the outside, but everything about him felt different. His striking eyes had turned a deep, dark shade, and the plumage mark at his brow almost looked alive, as if black fire flickered inside. "When did you wake up?" Emma looked at him and asked, lifting her chained hand so the metal links rattled. "Did you do this?" Lucien reached out, his cool fingers tracing the metal cuff on Emma's wrist as if admiring a piece of artwork made just for him. "I did." He admitted it without hesitation, even smiling slightly in satisfaction. "Emma, don't you like it?"This was custom-made just for you. The size is perfect. It'll never hurt you." He traced her skin with his fingertips, sending a chill up her arm. "Why?" Emma stared at him in shock. Had he lost his mind? He actually dared to lock her up? "Why?" Lucien let out a low, amused laugh, his chest moving with each chuckle. He gazed at Emma, slowly leaning down until his lips brushed her ear. His cool breath, mixed with the crisp scent of pine after snow, wrapped around her in an instant. "Because the moment I woke up, you were sleeping beside me." Lucien's voice dropped to a dangerous whisper, like a demon tempting her at her ear. "Right then, I suddenly thought, maybe I should lock you up. "That way, I can make sure that you belong to me, and only me… it seemed like a great idea." Emma stared at Lucien, her mind blank, barely able to process what he was saying. What is he talking about? Locking me up? She stared at his face, so close, swallowing hard. "Lucien, do you remember what happened before you went through Pyreborn?" This is bad. Did he fry his brain during the Pyreborn? At her question, Lucien straightened up, a slow smirk curving his lips. "I remember. Of course I remember." He took her chin in his cool fingers, not rough but firm enough to make her meet his eyes. "I remember you didn't want me anymore. You told me to go back to the Aurelian's turf."He leaned down, his black hair falling around her, a few strands brushing her cheek with a cold, itchy feeling. Those dark eyes perfectly reflected Emma's shock. "Emma, how could you be so cruel?" Lucien sighed, his voice sick with hurt. "Wasn't I good enough? "You cared about Edric, you comforted Corvin, you spoiled Silas, and you even gave Silas a cub, even though you said you didn't want one. "Even Marcus, that cold guy, gets your special attention. "But what about me? "What did I ever get? "You just threw me away when you felt like it." "I didn't..." Emma tried to explain, but Lucien cut her off. "You don't have to explain. I don't need to hear your excuses." His smile only grew darker and twisted."I've figured it out now. I have to keep you locked up, right by my side, so you can't go anywhere. "You'll always… belong to me. "Mine, and mine alone." This is bad. Lucien's lost it.
