The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands

Chapter 425 Watching Over Remy

"Ms. Tibarn, I... I..." Calum stammered, hesitating. "Don't worry about it," Emma said, giving his shoulder a reassuring pat. "Just go change, and then join me to watch over Remy." "You can do the same as Marcus and the others—take a blanket and rest on the floor," she suggested. Earlier, when Calum had walked in, he had noticed a few quilts laid out on the floor. At first, he assumed Emma wouldn't allow anyone on the bed, so they must be making do down there. But he quickly realized that wasn't the case. These guys had already figured out exactly what Emma wanted and had come prepared. Calum tightened his blanket around himself, his voice rough from nerves. "Ms. Tibarn, I'll change and be right back." He spun on his heel and hurried away. Once he left, Emma turned her attention to Lucien. "Go check on Drake. And make sure he never shows up dressed like that."It was far too awkward. "My lady, considering Mr. Smith's personality, he wouldn't dress like that on his own," Kieran interjected, defending Drake. He knew Drake was all business; there was no way he'd attempt such a stunt. Silas twitched at the corner of his mouth. "Still, it's better to check. What if he actually did?" Despite his words, his guilt was obvious. Emma narrowed her eyes at him. "Silas, don't tell me you taught him your style too?" After all, Corvin and Edric had picked up a few tricks from Silas at home. Even Lucien occasionally borrowed Silas' flair. It was hard for Emma not to suspect he might have coached Drake as well. Silas looked embarrassed. "Emy, I didn't teach him. He just asked me to help him pick two outfits, so I sent him a link..." Emma went silent. "I'll go check on Drake," Lucien announced. He shot Silas a look that said he was speechless before leaving quickly to find him.In his own room, Drake had just changed into a newly bought battle robe. He opened the door, expecting to see Emma—but instead, Lucien was already there, standing in the doorway and taking in Drake's outfit. The corner of Lucien's mouth twitched sharply. Silas is unbelievable. Drake's so-called outfit barely qualified as clothing, just a few meager scraps that barely covered what needed covering. When Drake caught sight of Lucien, his face flamed red. "Lucien, do you need something?" he asked nervously. Seeing Lucien in his uniform, Drake wanted nothing more than to shut the door immediately. Lucien, a little speechless, said, "Emma asked me to tell you that tonight, we're only keeping watch on Remy." He gestured to Drake's ridiculous attire. "Change now. Put on something normal." Without waiting for a reply, Lucien turned and left, heading back to his room. Lucien quickly stripped off his uniform, changed into simple loungewear, and returned to Emma's room. By the time he arrived, Calum and Drake had returned as well. Both were dressed appropriately. Lucien laid his quilt neatly beside the bed, while Marcus and the others adjusted their spots on the floor. Each of them settled on their own blankets in silence, creating a calm, quiet atmosphere. Emma rested on her side on the bed, little Remy lying gently on her chest. "Silas, has Remy moved again?" "No," Silas replied. "Do you think Remy will wake up tonight?" Remy was so still that even Silas couldn't be sure. After a moment of thought, he said, "Emy, I can't say for certain when Remy will wake up tonight. "Get some rest first. I'll wake you immediately if he stirs." "I'm not tired yet," Emma said. "I'll rest later." Emma couldn't sleep, her thoughts fixed on Remy. She switched her lightcore to night mode and began scrolling through the feed. Nothing important appeared at first, just minor updates. Then one name caught her eye—Damian. She hadn't heard anything about him in a long time and hadn't expected to see him appear tonight. The post claimed that Damian's company, NexusPrime Tech, was facing a massive financial crisis and was on the verge of collapse. It was just gossip, unverified and unreliable. Emma showed the post to Edric. "Edric, have you heard anything about Damian recently?" "No, Emma," he said after a pause. Then he asked, curious, "Why bring him up now?" They had long since severed ties with Damian. There was no reason to mention him. Emma forwarded him the post. "I saw this. It says NexusPrime Tech is about to go under." Lucien shook his head as he watched. "Emma, ignore that. This kind of thing happens constantly. Most of it is just exaggeration—completely false."
