The Cherished Pet of Nine Beast Husbands
Lucien had been educated in rules and etiquette ever since he was a child. He had been given strict instructions when it came to what he could and couldn't do. It was even expected of him to be demure in front of the female he loved. He had to be magnanimous and allow others to walk all over him. Lucien had been suffocating under all of those expectations for a long time. He would've never competed with Edric for this position if it weren't for the fact that no one else was capable enough to keep Marcus and Silas in check. However, that wasn't the case now. Callum was here. Why else would he bother scheming against Marcus by making him test Callum's mettle? He had only done so to know just how far Callum was willing to go for Emma. He had to know whether Callum was a good fit. Callum's reaction had pleased him immensely.Nevertheless, he still needed to test Callum for one final time tomorrow. Once Callum passed his test… Well, he would concede. He would "lose" to Callum and openly give up the position of Emma's first mate. Then, he'd be free to fight for Emma's affections just like Marcus and the others. He would no longer have to worry about fickle things like propriety ever again. The others watched as Lucien sauntered into the kitchen. Then, they immediately descended upon Emma. Marcus asked, "Ms. Tibarn, do you know what set Lucien off just now?" Why did he suddenly pull a 180? Emma shook her head in confusion. Honestly, she was lost as they were. "He… hadn't been exposed to anything earlier, had he?" He'd been perfectly normal when they were in his room earlier. Frankly, the only thing that was different than usual was how he'd clung to her. He'd been greedily soaking in her attention and wouldn't hear of her leaving. The Lucien of before would not have behaved like that. So, Emma was as confused as the rest of them. Silas shot a look at Callum, who was coming over, before sidling up to Emma with a smile. "Emy, Lucien probably just wore himself out on this trip. It's probably nothing. He'll likely be back to normal tomorrow." Then, he held Remy out toward her. "Emy, look at him. I think he's waking up. He moved earlier!" "Really?" Emma looked at the fruit in Silas's palm with delight. Then, she raised her hand and carefully touched him. "Remy!" She immediately felt him moving the second her fingers brushed against him. "Silas, Remy moved!"He was finally waking up. Silas nodded with a smile. "He's been restless ever since this morning. I think he'll wake soon." "That's wonderful!" she exclaimed happily as she gently picked Remy up from Silas' palm. "Let me hold him for a bit." Silas nodded. "Of course. He'll be overjoyed if he knows you're the one holding him right now. With that being said… I think he'll be over the moon if he sees you when he wakes up, Emy." Emma nodded solemnly. "You're right." So, she asked, "Do you know when he'll wake?" Silas looked at Remy and explained, "I can't say give you an exact time, but I think he'll wake up tonight." Emma didn't even hesitate to suggest, "Then, let's stay with him tonight. That way, I'll be the first person he sees when he wakes up." Silas curled his lips into a soft smile as he nodded happily. "Okay." Marcus, who had been planning to claim his reward from her tonight, fell silent. Was this really happening right now? He looked at Silas and could barely stop himself from strangling the d*mn plant etherian. Lucien suddenly going crazy was one thing, but Silas was now using Remy to monopolize Emma? He was really going to use every dirty trick just to win, huh? If that's how it's going to be, then he didn't see the need to play the gentleman card any longer, either. So, he leaned in and gently touched Remy as well. Then, he murmured softly, "Ms. Tibarn, Remy is your cub as much as he's mine. I want to stay with him too. Is that okay?" Emma would never refuse that request. She dotingly looked at the fruit in her hand and nodded in acquiescence. "Of course." Marcus straightened up and immediately shot Silas a smug look. Two can play this game. Silas was rendered utterly speechless. Lucien and Edric came out of the kitchen, each carrying a tray filled with food. "Emma, dinner is ready." Lucien set the dishes out on the table before turning to look at Remy, who was nestled in Emma's hand. He had heard Marcus and Silas' play-by-play earlier. So, he bent down and gently stroked the little fruit, saying warmly, "Emma, I heard Remy will be waking up soon?" Emma nodded. "Silas said he should be able to wake up tonight." Lucien smiled. "Emma, Remy is our first cub. I'd like to be there when he wakes up too… If that's alright with you?" Edric placed a bowl of soup on the table before joining their conversation. Then, he chimed in solemnly, "Ms. Tibarn, I don't want to miss a single moment of our cub's growth. I want to be there when he wakes up." Kieran, who had been silent this whole time, finally gathered the courage to speak, "Ms. Tibarn, I'd like to stay with Remy as well… May I?"Silas, who had been certain that using Remy would guarantee him alone time with Emma tonight, nearly had an aneurysm right then and there.
