Stranded with the Goddess
We returned to the reef nest, where Jiang Dandan was roasting clams by the fire. As soon as she saw us coming back, she immediately stood up and walked towards us. Upon seeing the coconuts and bird eggs, Jiang Dandan's eyes widened, and she swallowed hard. "Not bad, this young lady will have bird eggs to eat tonight." I glanced at Jiang Dandan, too lazy to bother with her, and Wang Yan and the others also chose to ignore her. Lin Xian'er started the fire, and Wang Yan, who could cook, began to roast the bird eggs. The five of us sat around the fire, sipping coconuts and quietly waiting for the bird eggs to be ready. Wang Yan had a good grasp of the heat, and soon a playful aroma wafted into our noses. At that moment, Zhang Xi'er's stomach growled. Zhang Xi'er successfully drew our attention, and she blushed and lowered her head, embarrassed by our gazes. Her reaction promptly triggered a round of laughter from us. Then Wang Yan handed a few fruits to Zhang Xi'er. "Here, leftovers from yesterday. I saw you liked them so I saved a few in my pocket." Zhang Xi'er looked up at Wang Yan in a daze, and suddenly tears uncontrollably fell from her eyes. Zhang Xi'er snatched the fruits and began to munch on them, crying as she ate, "Wuwu, thank you, Sister Wang Yan, you are so kind to me, wuwuwu." At this moment, Jiang Dandan sidled up, greedily staring at the nearly roasted bird eggs in the fire. Wang Yan looked at Jiang Dandan displeasedly, "These bird eggs are not for you!"
Jiang Dandan's complexion immediately turned gloomy, and I saw her clench her fists. Eventually, she turned around and went back to the fire, continuing to roast her clams. Wang Yan finally finished roasting the bird eggs, a total of fourteen. Xia Lan and the others each got two, but I unexpectedly received six, which was twice as many as theirs. I looked at Wang Yan and the others with some embarrassment. However, Xia Lan said, 'You did the most work, so eat up. We're counting on you to find food tomorrow.' Wang Yan and the others nodded vigorously upon hearing this. I glanced at Jiang Dandan, who was staring at us, swallowing saliva incessantly.
In the early morning, I faced the sea, watching the rising sun, with no ripples in my heart. It was already the third day, and there was still no sign of the rescue team; now I had to make long-term plans.
Jiang Dandan woke up hungry, clutching her stomach, her eyes lacking luster, her complexion pale. Wang Yan and the others woke up one after another, but their complexions looked much better than yesterday; they had only drunk coconut juice and eaten bird eggs.
I continued to lead Wang Yan and the others to pick coconuts, with Jiang Dandan trailing behind us. The looks Wang Yan and Xia Lan gave Jiang Dandan were not friendly; after all, food was scarce now, and those who didn't work for it had no right to eat!
I climbed the coconut tree using the old method, holding the knife in my mouth, and this time I chopped down sixteen coconuts, one for each person per meal, leaving one remaining after three meals.
Jiang Dandan stared at the coconuts in our hands, her eyes wide and fixed.
I sighed, pierced a coconut with my military knife, and handed it to Jiang Dandan.
Jiang Dandan had completely lost her ladylike demeanor, grabbing the coconut and frantically drinking its juice. After finishing the juice, she snatched the military knife from my hand, split the coconut open, and devoured the flesh without leaving a bit.
After satisfying her hunger and thirst, Jiang Dandan burped and looked at me, saying, "As long as you treat me well, I will definitely not treat you unfairly once we get out."
With that, she glanced around at the other girls and then got up to leave.
"What kind of attitude is that!" Wang Yan shouted unhappily as she watched Jiang Dandan leave.
I shook my head helplessly at the four girls.
Xia Lan said to me, "You really don't need to give food to such a person."
Lin Xian'er and Zhang Xi'er also nodded in agreement. "Let her be, we don't have time to dwell on these matters," I said. Wang Yan sighed, and Xia Lan looked a bit lost, as everyone knew that the chances of being rescued were getting slimmer as time passed. Wang Yan shook her head vigorously, and with a spirited tone, she said, "We must find a safe shelter as soon as possible, and a clean and stable water source is also a big issue." Taking over Wang Yan's words, I said, "Don't worry about that, I surveyed the mountainside north of the sea cliff yesterday, and there's a cave there. Let's go check it out together, and if it's feasible, we can move there today." Wang Yan and the others agreed to my suggestion with delight, and we began preparing. Lin Xian'er and Zhang Xi'er brought all our food, drink, and clothing, while Wang Yan and Xia Lan tied five torches with dry grass and branches. I returned to the plane crash site and found five iron rods, one 3 meters long and four 1 meter long; now we were fully equipped with weapons. With everything ready, we set off towards the sea cliff.
