Chronicles of the Weird
Hao Ren went to brew a pot of hot tea, and then he found himself staring at the two abnormal creatures in the living room, engaging in a silent standoff. At the two far ends of the long, narrow coffee table sat a vampire girl with a wary expression and an indignant Lily, both of them bristling with tension. A chilly aura and an atmosphere filled with wild power surged between them as their eyes met, and Hao Ren could almost see visible grayish-green clouds swirling above the coffee table. The tea was already served, but neither of the superheroines showed any intention of resolving their conflict through this opportunity.
In this chilling atmosphere of low pressure, Hao Ren could only continue to shrink his neck, using his ordinary and fragile physique to withstand the dual pressures from werewolves and vampires. He was desperately trying to figure out how to make these two trust each other's words: Lily insisted that the vampire before her wanted to suck the blood of their landlord, and that all the latter's statements were nothing but fabrications concocted to escape because she couldn't win in a fight (it was unclear how this silly girl could be so self-confident), and that Hao Ren had been enchanted by the vampire's magic and was therefore talking nonsense. Meanwhile, the vampire girl insisted that Lily wanted to coerce humans to wait for an opportunity to lurk in human cities, and that all of Hao Ren's statements were under the threat of werewolves... This created a deadlock: neither of them believed the other, nor did they trust a third party, and there was no fourth party to be found on the scene... Oh, there actually was a fourth party on the scene, namely the black and white kitten squatting not far away eating. This magical creature named "Roll" was oblivious to the chilly breeze in the living room, guarding a bowl of cat food as if it were the entire paradise. Hao Ren was almost beginning to suspect that this silly cat was also an "abnormality." "Well, then," it was finally Hao Ren, the host, who had to break the silence. He first turned to the source of all misunderstandings, the vampire girl, "Miss Vampire, about last night..." "Please do not refer to me as a vampire."
Dressed simply, yet exuding a natural cool elegance, the girl with long straight black hair frowned slightly, 'Only those who possess only instinct and feed on blood are considered vampires. Those of us who can control the crimson lust are the nobility among the bloodline. Humans misunderstand us deeply, which is why they always get it wrong. You can call me Vivian, but I cannot tell you my full name for now.' 'Oh.' Haoren nodded, although he didn't know the difference between blood servants and high-ranking vampires, nor did he understand what the crimson lust was, but he could tell that the girl with long straight black hair in front of him was actually quite easy to talk to, 'Vivian, right. So you didn't attack us last night? You actually came to help?' 'I saw humans with werewolves and didn't know if you were deceived or threatened.' Vivian nodded, 'Originally, I thought about taking you away directly, no matter what curse the werewolves had placed on you, their inferior magic is easy to deal with. But last night I was not in good condition, and I was actually... actually injured by a hidden weapon. Beasts are just beasts, they fight without any regard for beauty or grace.' 'Snobbish,' Lily snorted, 'If you can't win, just admit it, don't make so many excuses. Look at me, where am I coercing the landlord? He can run and jump, I'm not choking him.' The cold wind around Vivian suddenly intensified: 'Do you think I don't even know such common sense that a werewolf's claws carry a curse?' Upon hearing this, Lily immediately looked down at her hands in surprise: 'Wow, am I that impressive?'
Hao Ren decided to ignore the fool and turned to look at Vivian with a sincere face: 'You see, I really wasn't coerced! I swear to heaven that Lily didn't put a curse on me!' Vivian immediately nodded, and just as Hao Ren was happily thinking that this vampire... blood clan girl had finally come to her senses, the other party's face became even more serious: 'Don't worry, I know you must be reluctant to tell the truth because of the curse and not believing in my strength. Wait until I recover my condition and I'll show you that this wild dog who only throws bricks is no match for a high-ranking blood clan!' Upon hearing this, Lily immediately slapped the coffee table, and a large patch of uniform cracks appeared on the surface: 'Who are you calling a wild dog?! You winged rat!' Vivian no longer suppressed her hostility, she stood up abruptly, and the coffee table in front of her and the sofa behind her were covered with a layer of frost at a visible speed: 'Think you're that great? Let's fight again! It's because of you guys who can't control your instincts causing trouble everywhere that the situation has become what it is today!' The killing intent that had been controlled around the coffee table finally spread out under the release of its master, accompanied by two angry shouts, followed by the howling wind and the faint sound of wolves. The heartless 'Roll' finally realized that something was wrong, quickly gobbled down a few bites of cat food, and then scurried up to the second floor, leaving Hao Ren looking at his furniture, anxious and angry: 'My coffee table...' It's unclear how he withstood this wave of killing intent. 'Landlord, don't worry, I'll pay for the damages.'
'Lily is indeed a good girl, quickly realizing her mistake, and even in her rage, she hurriedly apologized to Hao Ren. Hao Ren had completely understood that the werewolf in front of him was a fool, and the vampire was a straight-laced one! Despite Vanessa's seemingly normal appearance, she probably wasn't much smarter than Lily. In this day and age, it seems that a capable person can't survive without some personality flaws, right? Just as Lily and Vanessa were about to have a big fight in the living room, Hao Ren's originally abundant patience was finally worn out. He smashed his fist down on the coffee table with force and roared with the most imposing voice he could muster: 'Enough! This is my home!!' This roar and the powerful punch were actions that Hao Ren, the slow-paced good guy, hadn't taken for years, but the deterrent power of a leopard showing its claws finally came into play. The vampire girl and the werewolf girl finally realized that they were in someone else's home, and one of them also realized that she owed the landlord money for a coffee table. So they both stopped in unison, their eyes fixed on Hao Ren without blinking. 'Why are you looking at me?'
When Hao Ren shouted to subdue the two 'aliens', he was taken aback. He had not expected that he would actually have the courage to shout in front of such powerful beings who could kill with a mere wave of their hand (and moreover, he managed to take control of the situation after shouting). But then he felt that having this feat in his life was not in vain. At this moment, with four eyes fixed on him, he, who already felt he had nothing to lose, inexplicably felt a surge of confidence. 'Take a look at yourselves, one is a fool, the other is stubborn! I am the party concerned here, okay? Can you stop ignoring the opinions of the party concerned and jump to conclusions on behalf of others?! And this... this... does it fit your identities? When have werewolves and vampires ever been so selflessly protective of humans? Let me, the most confused one, figure this out first, and then you can go on with your misunderstandings, okay?'
Hao Ren had been holding back this last question for a long time. In this era of information explosion and cultural integration, who doesn't know the story of vampires and werewolves? Just search any fantasy movie database, and at least two out of ten movies will be related to these two species. In Hao Ren's mind, the bloodthirsty and irrational werewolves and the cunning and cold vampires were as striking as two symbols. But what about these two in front of him... what's going on?
Without understanding this issue, he couldn't even find a good rhythm for his own demise!
Surprisingly, Lily and Vivian suddenly said in unison: 'I am different from those wild animals!'
Then the two girls glanced at each other with a mixture of surprise, followed by a cold snort before each turned their heads away, obviously believing that only they were sincere. "I don't know what's going on with the rest of our kind; it seems like they can't live without being against humans, but I've been with humans since I became conscious," Vivian said, crossing her arms. "And I instinctively... dislike other vampires. Don't ask me why, I don't know, it's just always been like this since I was a child, and I also can't stand other 'abnormalities' fighting with humans; they're too foolish. That's all." "I've never seen other 'abnormalities,'" Lily sniffed, seemingly displeased with Vivian's 'scent,' "I woke up in a very cold place, probably a snowfield, and I was in human form when I woke up. I was adopted and raised by an old lady, and for decades after, I've been with humans, only moving when they started to suspect my eternal youth. I like humans, I'm used to humans, is there a problem?" Hao Ren looked at these two abnormal creatures and decided to trust them. Anyway, it didn't really matter whether he trusted them or not—he couldn't take down even one of them.
