If It's Not Me

Chapter 23 Who Is He?

Soon, Daniel stopped at the main entrance of Janson Corporation and waited. Not long after, Janice walked over to him while dressed in office attire and a pair of heels. However, there was a sweet smile on her usually cold yet pretty face, for there was a handsome man in a suit and leather shoes beside her. Seeing that, Daniel expressed a hint of disdain in his eyes, feeling a little uncomfortable within. The two chatted happily as they neared Daniel. Janice turned around and said, "Nelson, I have to go fetch my daughter, so I'll be off now. I'll leave that matter we talked about in your hands." Nelson Gray immediately smiled and said, "Why don't I take you there instead? I've heard you mention her a lot, but I've never actually met Denise before." The love in his eyes was as clear as day. However, during the entire process, he never even glanced at Daniel. It seemed like he really thought of the latter as a mere driver. Janice gave Daniel a glance, then smiled as she shook her head while saying, "It's okay, maybe next time." Nelson also noticed Janice's glance, and he looked at Daniel as well. Daniel instantly felt a sense of enmity from him. However, Nelson quickly averted his gaze and smiled. "Alright, take care now." "Okay." Janice got into the car. Daniel quickly started the car and drove away. He glanced at the rearview mirror and noticed that Nelson was still standing where he was, watching the car drive away. "Who is he?" Daniel asked calmly. His tone was a little sullen, and it seemed like he was rather unhappy. Janice didn't notice the change in Daniel's voice, and she thought that he was referring to the term in their contract where they both had to be single. Hence, she began to explain. Through the conversation, it was known that Nelson was a son of the Gray Family in Atlasdam. He had grown up with Janice, so they were childhood friends. Five years ago, despite her family's protests, Janice came to Goldshore alone to adopt Denise. However, because she didn't meet the financial requirements, the adoption process was unsuccessful. After that, Nelson lent her a sum of money, and she quickly established a company. That was how she managed to get the adoption to work. In fact, the 'son' in Janice's company's name, Janson Corporation, was in reference to the 'son' in Nelson's name. In other words, part of her company belonged to Nelson. Hearing that, Daniel felt even more annoyed as he said, "It's been five years, so why is he here now?" "His family sent him. It has something to do with the Four Waves Chamber of Commerce. Do you know about the richest man in Southland, William Hayes? The first person in charge of the Sky Project is William himself. I heard that he's here in Goldshore today to establish a temporary company here, and it's opening applications for business partners in various fields. The Gray Family wants to be part of the deal, so they sent him here. I'm also trying to snag a spot to see if my company gets selected for the advertising field."Janice looked very serious as she spoke, and she didn't even notice the slight dissatisfaction in Daniel's expression.
