The Alpha Prince's Bought Maid

Chapter 73 Failed Plans

**A few hours later** The prime minister turned up to his daughter’s palace to have dinner with her while expecting to receive great news. It was the day after the night of the full moon, and he deemed it the perfect time to visit his only daughter. Political tension had escalated once again with his term as prime minister coming to an end in less than six months. Although this country was governed by a democratic system, it was partially just for show. The real power still remained with the king and the royal family that was favored and loved by all the people alike. What that ultimately meant for politicians in this country was that the one favored by the king would be elected and then reelected. It was just that simple. “Where is Regina?” he asked the maid that greeted him at the door. “She’s waiting for you in the dining room, Sir. Please head this way…” the maid said humbly before showing him the way. After making his way into the dining room, he took his seat at the table opposite from his daughter. He then waved all the servants away with the dismissive gesture of his hand. Once they were alone in the room together, Lord Baldirius finally spoke to his daughter. “Did things go as planned last night?” he asked without beating around the bush. Regina secretly bit on the inside of her lower lip as she hesitated on how to break the news to her father. Undoubtedly, he would be disappointed. She would be lucky if that was all. “I am sorry…but I failed…” she admitted in a weak whisper. The prime minister went silent as his eyes widened slightly at her unexpected words. “You fail? What do you mean, you fail?!” he asked before openly shouting at her. “It was already too late when I got there…” Regina explained as she tried to keep her voice steady. “All you had to do was seduce him. Are you telling me that after all that I’ve done to get you to live in the palace, you couldn’t even seduce him?!” he shouted as he stood up from the table. Regina was used to her father’s temper; however, this incident seemed to have upset and angered him many times more than usual and she could understand why. The pride and future of their family depended on this and with the upcoming elections, her father’s political career depended on this as well. “I…I was told that he doesn’t like women sneaking into his bedroom…so I thought…” she began to explain as her eyes darted around the room nervously. “You thought what? You thought that he would hate you for it?” the prime minister asked sarcastically. “Well, even if we succeeded in doing it once, if I end up angering him then there wouldn’t be a next time…” Regina voiced her thoughts. Regina also didn’t want to mention that her relationship with Leonard was under a little strain as well with the incident involving the maid. From that day on, she never got the chance to meet the prince no matter how hard she tried requesting for a meeting with him. She called him many times, but he never picked up his phone and all her formal letters requesting for time with him were returned to her without his reply. With the situation being how it was, she was sure that she would anger him even more if she were to pay a visit directly to his palace. She bit down hard on her lower lip as she wondered what she should do and what she should tell her terribly outraged father. “Nothing matters as long as you get pregnant, Regina! Don’t get any stupid ideas. I didn’t send you in there to get him to fall in love with you, I sent you in there to get pregnant with his child. With our bloodline, you should be able to birth an Ultimate Alpha pup without any issues,” her father said as he glared at her. Regina bit on her lower lip to keep herself from screaming back at her father in her extreme frustration. It wasn’t that simple, but she couldn’t tell him her most honest thoughts. To her, what mattered the most wasn’t what her father wanted or what her family wanted to maintain. “I don’t think…it’s that simple…” she murmured. “But it is that simple. Seduce him, sleep with him until you’re pregnant. Surely, you can do that much, right?” her father argued without showing any signs of backing down. “Right…” she murmured as she was forced to agree. “The night of the full moon has passed but that doesn’t matter. I’ll come up with an opportunity for you to meet him. What about dinner at your palace? Then after that, you will make sure that he will end up in your bed…” the prime minister suggested. Although Regina didn’t want to resort to these sorts of tactics, she had to admit that she was running out of options. With her failure to meet with Prince Leonard, she couldn’t make much progress in developing their relationship. The prince was undoubtedly still angry with her and perhaps getting her father’s help for her to meet him might be the right move to restore their relationship. Suddenly, she felt like there was hope again. “Yes, father…” she replied. “The king is looking forward to our progress. You can do this, Regina. I’ll make sure that you’ll be the next queen of his country,” her father said with clear conviction. Regina just nodded her head obediently. The position of Queen wasn’t what she desired but if Prince Leonard becomes the next king, then she wanted to make sure that she would be the one by his side as his queen. … **Around the same time** It didn’t come as a surprise to Darius when he was summoned by the king the next day. The night of the full moon proved to be another eventful night and Callum undoubtedly has already submitted his report. Unlike the other full moon nights prior to this, Darius felt better about himself and the progress that he had made. The fact that his father had summoned him to the main royal assembly hall was a clear sign that things were heading in the right direction. --To be continued…
