The Alpha Prince's Bought Maid
“You! Grab those rose vases from over there and put them on those tables. Quickly!” a senior maid instructed loudly as she pointed a finger at me. “Yes, right away…” I said before quickly doing as I was bid to. When I arrived at the table where the vases filled with red roses were, I quickly found out that the vase were much larger and heavier that I had thought. How am I supposed to carry all three of these on my own? Maybe I should try one or two at a time. “Mila! Do you need help?” Jessie asked as she quickly approached my side. “Oh, thank goodness that you’re here. I need to carry three of these but they’re so big and heavy. Can you help take one? I’ll handle two of them,” I said as relief flooded my body and then I let out a sigh. “Sure. I’ll put this one on that table over there. You can do the other two,” Jessie said with an encouraging smile. I watched her back as she carried one of the large vases away. Now I just have to carry these two vases over there. I lifted a vase and then another. Holding two large vases filled with red roses felt extremely heavy but it wasn’t a long walk to where I needed to take them. I can do this! The biggest challenge wasn’t just the weight but the size of the vases as well. The red roses that were arranged beautifully in the vase by the florists also served to block my entire field of vision. I could hardly see in front of me with the vase and the roses blocking my view. Perhaps it was a mistake to carry both at once and I had bitten off more than I could chew. However, time was running out and I needed to do this. I walked slowly forward while I prayed that the other maids would clear a path for me as I came through. I almost made it to the first table when suddenly the vase that I was holding bumped into something. The impact caused me to lose my balance. It happened so fast that I wasn’t sure what had really happened. I let out a cry of surprise as I felt myself falling backwards. The vases fell from my hand and soon I landed hard on my butt with the soft grass helping to cushion my fall. It was when I heard a sharp cry of a woman that wasn’t my own that I realized that I must have walked right into someone. The next thing I knew, the vases had crashed to the ground and then I felt stinging pain along my arms and hands. I looked down to see the roses spilling out of the vase and falling down on top of me. Suddenly, it was like time had stopped and I felt the eyes of everyone in the garden on me and my unfortunate situation. “Lady Regina! Are you alright?” A loud voice rang out. I winced in pain when I realized that the thorns from the roses must have pricked and scratched my hands and arms during my fall. Some roses and its stem were still on my arms, and I carefully removed them. My body hurt from the impact of the fall, but I managed to get back on my feet again. “Are you ok?” Salena whispered to me with worry. “Yeah…” I murmured, still shock at what had just happened. I stood up to see a woman still on the ground and I gasped when I realized that she must have been the woman that I ran into. The woman was dressed in a stunning lavender-colored long dress. Her hair was impeccably styled into a stylish up-do with a few curled locks framing her troubled face. I could tell that she was in pain as another woman tried to help her up. “Lady Regina! Please let me help you up. How can such a thing happen? Oh…please be careful…” the other woman said as she started helping the woman she called Lady Regina up. The way that this Lady Regina was dressed told me that she was definitely one of the honorable maidens. I was at a loss for what I should do but one thing was clear. “I am extremely sorry for what happened. I was carrying the vases so I couldn’t really see where I was going…” I apologized profusely to the lady. “Oh…it’s alright. I don’t think I was watching where I was going either,” the lady in the lavender dress replied. Her pink lips curved into a beautiful smile that matched well with her light blue eyes. Now that I could see her up close, I found myself captivated by her beauty. Her face looked like a doll with big round eyes framed with light blonde lashes that matched her hair. Her eyes were a beautiful blue, and her cheeks were a rosy pink. The smell of her sweet flowery perfumed filled my nostrils and I was reminded of lilies. “Lady Regina, are you sure that you are fine? I humbly suggest that we get one of the royal doctors to examine you right away,” the other woman said. It seemed like she was a maid that worked for Lady Regina; however, unlike me, she wasn’t dressed in the standard black maid uniform. Instead, she wore a light grey knee-length dress. “It’s fine, Sophie. I’m ok, so please don’t worry,” Lady Regina replied. “You there! Why didn’t you watch where you were going? How dare you bump into Lady Regina like this?” Sophie spat my way. “I am terribly sorry…” I apologized again. “It’s fine. Accidents can happen…” Lady Regina replied. “They sure can,” A deep man’s voice said clearly from close to us. I turned to see a very tall man with dark hair and piercing grey eyes dressed in full regal uniform. His navy military jacket was adored with many medals befitting of his position. Everything about him screamed that he was a prince. Dark hair and grey eyes…this must be Prince Darius! --To be continued…
