Mr. Mysterious's Spontaneous Bride

Chapter 91 Cato's Wife

"So, Young Master Alter's invitation was forged," one of the guests commented with a low laugh. Others chimed in, "The Alter Group claims to be a real elite family, is this the manner of the elite?" As the mockery around them intensified, Kevin loosened his tie and suppressed the anger boiling inside him. "Today, there seems to have been a misunderstanding that has upset Professor Alter. When you have the time, we'll visit and apologize in person." He then turned to Tanya. "Let's go." While Tanya wanted to turn back and explain, Kevin gently pulled her along, lowered his voice, and said, "Can't you see? This is a trap set intentionally to humiliate us!" Tanya, hearing his words, looked back at Erica, then shifted her gaze to Ivy. Her initial helplessness had turned into loathing and anger. Ivy! It's you again! She was determined to ruin Ivy's reputation. Meanwhile, Ivy, who had been enjoying the spectacle, suddenly felt a shiver down her spine. She looked around and realized that everyone's attention was focused on Professor Erica. She tightened her handbag, considering how to establish contact with Professor Alter. Perhaps she could ask Shawn to help arrange a meeting with Professor Alter, even if it was just a phone call. "Are you Ivy Rosalia Jones?" Stepping out from the gap, Erica had walked up to her. She smiled, appearing to have a favorable impression of her. Ivy was momentarily taken aback but quickly adjusted herself. "Professor Alter, can I have five minutes of your time? I..." She reached for her phone in her handbag to show the patient's information to her. But her fair and delicate hand stopped her. "I've already reviewed the patient's information in an email, and my medical team is on the way to the County Clinic to examine the patient. Don't worry." Perhaps out of a kind of empathy, Erica watched the woman before her, the one who had ensnared Shawn. She couldn't help but like her more as she continued, "This time, I've brought an old friend of mine. He's a renowned orthopedic expert in Western medicine. He's already on his way, so you can rest assured." "Are you talking about Professor Watson?" Ivy asked.Erica nodded. "You know him?" Ivy nodded, then shook her head, and looked down. "Back then, Professor Smith recommended me to apply for Professor Watson's program to be his student..." But unfortunately, she had not applied because of that incident. Erica had investigated Ivy's past. Nearly all the professors at City A Medical University praised Ivy as a medical genius. She knew that Ivy was born with a natural talent for medicine. Still, fate had cruelly ruined her prospects, and she had lost almost everything. Although Erica indulged Shawn and wouldn't usually interfere in his romantic relationships, she was willing to give this woman a chance. "It's a shame you didn't get the chance. Professor Watson is an excellent teacher. Perhaps in the future, if you have the opportunity, you can consider pursuing it again," Erica said, her tone softer. She hoped Ivy would grasp this opportunity for her own sake. As for Shawn's love, it would be a matter of fate. Ivy needed to prove herself to be deserving of him. This meeting was critical, and Erica's decision was influenced by the fact that Ivy was involved. She needed to investigate further. If she found that Ivy was truly at fault, she wasn't worthy of being with Shawn! With this in mind, Erica flipped her long hair and replied, "As long as you adhere to medical ethics, it's yours, and it will never slip away." Ivy was momentarily puzzled, but she could sense something in Erica's words. However, she was not entirely sure of her meaning. At this moment, she didn't want to dwell on these matters. She was eager to return to the county clinic and check on the patient there. "Professor Smith, why don't you head back and cooperate with Professor Watson for the examination? We'll depart in an hour," she suggested. Professor Smith was naturally delighted and replied, "Alright!" He then patted Ivy's shoulder and left. Ivy stood there, silently watching Professor Smith's figure for a long time, until he was completely out of her sight. She was met with a brazen gaze from Erica. Humbly, she bowed to Erica and asked, "Professor Alter, is there anything I can assist you with?""No need," Erica smiled. "Wait for me at the entrance in an hour, and we'll go together." With that, she turned and went to greet the guests. In the vast party venue, everyone was engaged in polite conversations, raising their glasses. Ivy, on the other hand, retreated to a corner, sipping on water, feeling out of place. Since everyone was engrossed in their conversations, the corner had become a quiet space. Ivy took out her phone and began to carefully study the patient's condition. Professor Smith was conducting a parallel diagnosis with Professor Watson, which provided her with valuable insights. She asked a waiter for a pen and paper, sat on a couch, and started sketching in detail. Although a few people approached her for conversation, Ivy was so engrossed in her work that she paid no attention to them. The guests who were ignored were tempted to berate her for her arrogance, but they couldn't bring themselves to do it, considering her stunning beauty and her expression that made people want to protect her. As a result, a line of people soon gathered in the space in front of Ivy. She continued sketching on her notebook, while they used their phones to capture her work. Erica had just finished her last drink and was about to return and ask Ivy to leave when she unexpectedly witnessed this scene. She calmly instructed her assistant to bring her a phone and took a picture of this masterpiece herself. She then sent it to Shawn. "Your wife is quite popular, you know?" Three minutes later, Shawn replied, "The car is outside; bring her out." Did he even need to ask if she was popular? If it weren't for the fear of exposing her identity, Shawn would have rushed in and taken her out himself. Erica handed back the phone and patted Ivy's hand. "It's time to go." Ivy regained her senses and, looking at Erica, was excited about her work. "Professor Alter, it's my treatment plan, you..." Erica glanced at her and said, "Your treatment plan should be given to Professor Watson." Ivy finally understood. She quietly put away the paper and apologized, "I'm sorry." "I know you're eager. Let's go, back to the clinic," Erica said. "Alright!"Erica turned and bowed to the guests, "I'm sorry, there are some matters I need to attend to. I'm leaving now; enjoy yourselves." She then left the hotel with Ivy, cutting through the crowd. "The beauty from earlier, isn't she from the Ordinary Clinic, Ivy, right?" "Oh, right, it seems like she's competing with Tanya Potts for something called the Rising Star of Tomorrow." "Considering Erica's attitude, it seems like the Rising Star of Tomorrow might be going to Ivy." Behind them, the voices of the guests continued, and Erica heard it all. She frowned and was quite annoyed by the "gossipy women" behind her who were speaking without restraint. She was about to turn back and intervene, but she saw Ivy walking calmly, seemingly immersed in her own world. Erica sighed heavily, "They spoke so ill of you, and you're not upset at all?" "Huhh?" Ivy snapped out of it, unsure why Professor Alter was so upset. "Professor, what do you mean...?" Erica pursed her lips and left. The person involved didn't care about it, so why should an outsider like her be so concerned? Annoyed, she got into the car and sat beside Shawn, telling Ivy, "You sit in the back." Shawn's expression darkened, and he was about to refuse when Erica said, "If you refuse, I'll call Cato Alter now." "Professor Alter, I'll sit in the back," Ivy quickly stopped her, shaking her head at Shawn. She then swiftly entered the back seat through another door. As the family car drove forward, Ivy sat uneasily in the back. She didn't know what she had done to anger Erica. She observed her with a careful eye, her mind still occupied with thoughts about the recent treatment plan she had sent to Professor Smith. She hoped that Professor Smith and Professor Watson could discuss it before her arrival, and she was continuously refining it in her mind. "Shawn, have you ever met Cato's wife?" Erica suddenly turned the conversation toward Shawn, causing her assistant, who was driving, to nearly bite his tongue. Shawn remained composed. "No, Mr. Cato is a very private person.""Private?" Erica sneered and cast a meaningful glance at Ivy in the rearview mirror. "I think he's done something he doesn't want people to see." Shawn: "..." Erica continued, "You haven't met her, but you've probably heard about her, right? Tell me, what kind of person is his wife?" Shawn discreetly glanced at Ivy in the rearview mirror. "Very focused, single-minded, extremely intelligent, and not entirely lacking in emotional intelligence. However, sometimes she chooses to ignore matters outside of her profession and often inadvertently annoys people without realizing it." Ivy's hand twitched. Shawn's words, why did they sound like they were referring to herself? ***
