Mr. Mysterious's Spontaneous Bride
Tanya took the center stage while Dr. Ticko and Jenny accompanied her on either side. The three of them walked with a commanding presence. However, as they entered County Clinic's emergency room, Director Malcom used a broom to sweep them out. "Director Malcom, what are you doing?" Dr. Ticko hid behind Tanya and Jenny, his imposing manner deflated by Director Malcom's broom. "Hmph! We've got three more big piles of trash at home, so I need to clean them up!" Director Malcom said coldly. "Hmm! Don't be too pleased. County Clinic now has a terrible reputation. Let's see how long you can be arrogant!" Dr. Ticko still hid behind the two women, using their protection. What a coward! "Watch closely for me. Don't let them in, or else..." He instructed the clinic's last security guard. Dr. Ticko couldn't bear it. He suddenly lunged forward, hugging the security guard's waist and preventing him from moving. He instructed Tanya and Jenny, "You two go in and reclaim the place for me!" With the heavy weight of Dr. Ticko's body pinning him down, the security guard couldn't move. Tanya and Jenny took advantage of the confusion and entered the clinic. But as they approached the entrance, they saw Ivy walking toward them from the other end of the hallway. Tanya stopped in her tracks, her eyes locked deeply on Ivy's leisurely approach. Ivy had her hands in her pockets, and she looked calm and collected, as if the clinic's crisis meant nothing to her. Why was she always so indifferent? Whether in school or at work, nothing seemed to affect her. Even when she broke up with Kevin back then, she acted aloof and indifferent, like a queen. On the day Ivy broke up with Kevin, Tanya was nearby, tracking Ivy. She saw Ivy proudly utter the word ‘breakup’ to Kevin, and then she watched Kevin spend the entire night begging Ivy, like a loyal dog. For the whole night, regardless of what Kevin said, she remained unmoved, handling her work like a queen. With her hands clenched into fists, Tanya vowed in her heart, "Someday, I will definitely trample that high and mighty face of yours under my feet!" Ivy had not seen the notice, and she was in the middle of discussing work with Roland. When she saw Tanya's resentful gaze fixed on her from a distance, she raised her head and met Tanya's eyes. The expression on Tanya's face, like she wanted to devour her, left Ivy puzzled. "Just by looking at your current state, I can tell you haven't seen the notice," Roland sighed in frustration. "It's been announced that the Rising Star selection criteria include three factors: the applicant's information and work experience, accounting for 40 points; the recommender's credentials, 10 points; and the applicant's public trustworthiness, 50 points. The first two are unlikely to change, but the third is determined by votes. Your and Tanya's names are already on the City A Health Commission's website, and over the next month, the ten candidates will receive public votes with real-name registration. The doctor with the highest total score will be selected as City A's Rising Star." Ivy's lips twitched as she silently complained that this doctor selection process felt more like a beauty pageant. "If I've estimated correctly, Tanya will be making quite a few appearances in County A to increase her visibility in the near future." Ivy followed Roland's line of sight and saw several photographers with their cameras taking pictures outside. She frowned in displeasure. She despised turning a hospital into a showcase, and she detested any behavior that was not conducive to the recovery of the patients. "Ivy, my patients have told me that they suffered when they were at County Clinic due to expensive and ineffective medication. So, I came to see if there's anything I can help with," Tanya stood in front of Ivy, intimately holding her hand. "If your medical resources are in short supply, please let me know. Potts Medical Clinic doesn't mind providing external assistance. But... I've heard from the patients that you used to pressure them and emphasized that their illnesses couldn't be treated. Speaking of that, Ivy, you've committed a major violation as a doctor. What if a patient considers suicide after hearing your words?" Her brows furrowed, and she sighed with a worried expression. "Ivy, I hope you understand the seriousness of this situation." Ivy's gaze was locked on the team of photographers. Her eyes were icy. She firmly grasped Tanya's hand, forcing her to turn her back to the cameras. She said coldly, "Tanya, you have thirty seconds to take your show team and get out of here. Otherwise, I will immediately call Kevin to come and protect me." Tanya paled when she heard this. "You... how dare you! He's my fiancé!""Your fiancé?" Ivy sneered and lightly held her hand, drawing circles in her palm. "Let's make a bet. I'll bet that I can make him break off the engagement with you with just one word." "Ivy, don't be so self-righteous!" Tanya gasped for breath, and the image of Kevin's infatuation with Ivy was clear in her mind. She knew that if Ivy asked, Kevin would definitely break up with her. But... "As long as Chairman Alter doesn't agree, this engagement won't be called off!" "Chairman Alter's view is that if Kevin doesn't want to be with me, he can be with anyone else." Ivy kindly explained and prepared to call Kevin immediately. "You just wait!" Tanya muttered angrily and left, her face turning white. County Clinic returned to its calm state. "Ivy, what did you say to her?" Alyssa was puzzled, wondering what Ivy had said that made the proud and peacock-like Tanya leave. Ivy smiled but didn't answer, instead instructing her to carefully study the patient's condition. "Ivy, why do doctors like Dr. Ticko, with such low moral character, not only avoid being ostracized by society but also prosper, even opening a clinic stronger than our Clinic?" Alyssa still felt resentful. She was flipping through the patient records, making a cracking sound. Ivy responded without lifting her head. "He has low moral character in his personal life, but not in his professional life." "But what should we do? Just let him act recklessly?" Alyssa remained dissatisfied, rummaging through the case files in frustration. Ivy sighed almost inaudibly. She was more concerned about the patients who had switched to Dr. Ticko's clinic. Since Roland had joined the clinic, she had gathered some information about Tanya, such as the hints to patients for more money, administering the wrong medication, and mistreating patients. While she believed Roland's information to be accurate, she was increasingly worried that her former patients might experience delays in their treatment, which could be detrimental to their health. ... “What should we do?” Ivy was so absorbed in her thoughts about this matter that she accidentally voiced her concern when they were having dinner with her family. All three of them at the table simultaneously froze. "Ivy, what do you mean, 'What should we do?'" her grandmother asked. "Huh? Oh, it's nothing," she said after snapping out of it, picking up her spoon and starting to eat. She kept eating for quite some time without seeing any of the others touching their food. Puzzled, she looked up and asked, "What's going on?" Shawn placed a large piece of ham into her bowl and asked irritably, "Were you just teaching us how to eat air?" Ivy bent down and only then noticed that, apart from the big piece of ham that Shawn had placed in her bowl, her bowl was empty. "Sorry," she said, embarrassed, and took a bite of the ham. "Explain what's going on," he said again. Ivy loved her work, but she had never been so absorbed in thought. Shawn caught her just as she was about to refuse his request. "If you don't tell us, none of us will be able to sleep tonight." Ivy reluctantly recounted the recent events and her concerns to her family. After hearing her story, her mother and grandma were both furious, condemning the state of society and the curses it had brought upon the world. However, Shawn remained deep in thought. Recently, he had been occupied with a project in City A. He was either in meetings or on the road to attend meetings. He had heard about the situation at County Clinic from his assistant, but he refrained from getting too involved. Originally, he thought that when County Clinic could no longer hold on, he would step in. However, he didn't expect that the problem lay with Tanya. "Aunty Marissa is a legend in the medical field in City A. Since she's stepped in, County Clinic should have no problem. What you need to do is cooperate with your director and heaad nurse, and stay away from Roland." "That's all I can do," Ivy replied, but then she suddenly looked puzzled. "What do you mean by 'stay away from Roland'?" Without lifting his head, he replied, "I mean it literally." Why couldn't she be smarter and understand his implied message? Frustrated, Shawn was silent. He couldn't ignore Ivy's work, despite her being a straight-minded workaholic. While Ivy was taking a shower, he called his assistant and listened to the report. Afterward, he ordered, "There are deeply-rooted factions in City A First Hospital. Tanya is likely just the tip of the iceberg. I want you to investigate the hospital thoroughly. I want to uproot it." "Understood!" His assistant replied. Before Shawn hung up, he added, "Mr. Tate, there have been some developments regarding Mrs. Tate's medical incident from three years ago." "Tell me." "We've managed to follow the trail and locate the nurse who left the hospital at the same time as Mrs. Tate due to the medical incident three years ago. She mentioned that on that day, Kevin was also present." ***
