Mr. Mysterious's Spontaneous Bride
Shawn fell silent.
Dom's mouth twitched, a look of speechlessness on his face.
The old man was playing the innocent card quite convincingly.
"Really, Grandpa? Haven't you met Mr. Cato Alter before?" Shawn, feeling helpless, found the lie too unreliable. How could he tell such a blatant falsehood?
"No, never." Andy chuckled awkwardly. "Usually, Dom goes for me. I'm not in good health, so I avoid the trouble. Let the young people handle it."
Shawn gave Dom a meaningful look, silently laughing inside.
The day Shawn's identity was revealed, Dom turned out to be quite a useful shield.
"Since we're all gathered outside, let's go in and rest." Emma smiled, interrupting the awkward exchange, leading everyone into the house.
Emma took Uncle Jim to attend to their duties. Ivy sat on the couch, reviewing patient records on her laptop. The other four grown men sat around, stuck in an uncomfortable situation.
"Mr. Luke, you're Shawn's colleague, and he invited you to join our family trip. He values you a lot," Andy sarcastically remarked.
Feeling helpless, Luke wanted to cry. These were all his bosses; he couldn't afford to offend them. He awkwardly agreed, "I am just helping each other out..."
"You've worked hard running around for Shawn these years since he has difficulty moving," Andy sighed deeply, putting on a bitter expression.
"Shawn, when Ivy married you, she didn't ask for anything. You better treat her well in the future." Changing the subject, Andy began to issue warnings.
Shawn didn't like this feeling. It felt like a blatant threat.
"Don't worry, Grandpa." Suppressing his displeasure, Shawn responded, "I will be filial to Ivy, and I'll love her forever, along with Mom."
Ivy lifted her head from the computer, looking at the four awkward men in front of her, furrowing her brows.
Each one more stiff than the other.
"Grandpa, Shawn likes peace and quiet." She tried to intervene for him. But, Dom immediately asked, "Did we disturb him?"
"Not... really..." To avoid making it worse, Ivy decided to stay silent.
"Shawn, how did you and Ivy meet?" Andy asked again, clearly enjoying the spectacle.
Shawn looked at Ivy. "Well, Ivy has told you, hasn't she?"
Ivy also chimed in, "Grandpa, didn't you know about it earlier?"
Andy wasn't in a hurry. With a sly smile, he squinted his eyes and said, "You only mentioned the process of getting married, not how you met. Now, I want to hear Shawn's thoughts."
At this point, Emma came down with a tray of tea, smiling, "Speaking of which, Ivy seems not to have mentioned how they met. Just talked about Grandma Winston and her doing charity work together, and they got acquainted."
"In fact, it's just as Mom said. After getting to know Grandma Winston, I got in touch with Shawn," Ivy said nervously.
How to explain their rushed marriage?
Carefully tugging at her husband's sleeve, Ivy hinted, "Say something."
Shawn sighed awkwardly and was about to speak when Dom smiled and said, "Could it be that you two had a flash marriage?"
