Pampered By Billionaires After Betrayal
"Are you sure you bought this at the hospital?" Olivia nodded innocently. "Yeah, why would I lie to you? I got it from the hospital where my dad was admitted. Pretty great, right?" Great was an understatement. This was a spread of "luxury items." There were lobsters, sea cucumbers, abalone, and king crabs—it was like Olivia had brought a seafood buffet home. Emily's eyes darted around, and she quickly figured out what was going on. She asked, "Did Allen visit Mr. Taylor in the hospital?" Olivia casually responded as she unpacked the boxes, "Uh-huh. He's been coming to the hospital every day lately instead of going to work. But I've figured it out." "What did you figure out?" "I figured out why he comes to the hospital every day!" Emily's eyes widened. Could it be that her clueless friend had finally caught on? Had Allen Parker finally seen the light? But Olivia's next words stunned her. "Emily, I've realized that all capitalists have one thing in common—they love getting things for free! Look at Allen Parker, he's rich, right? Yet he comes to the hospital every day to mooch off the food. I get a meal from the hospital cafeteria for just ten bucks, and they serve abalone and sea cucumber! It's a steal! Allen Parker is just stingy. He already underpays me, and now he even mooches off hospital food. He has no relatives in the hospital, but he comes every day just to eat. I despise him." Olivia's passionate rant about "capitalists must die" left Emily at a loss for words. Hoping Olivia would understand Allen's intentions? That might take another lifetime. Olivia handed Emily a spoon and pushed the food towards her. "Try it." Emily took a sip of the sea cucumber soup. It was delicious, very fresh and sweet. This was definitely not hospital food.It was clearly made by a Michelin-starred chef. "Olivia, does everyone at the hospital get meals like this?" Olivia waved her hand. "Of course not! Only when I go." "Have you ever wondered why that is?" "Of course I have. I'm not stupid," Olivia said, smacking her lips. "I think the guy in charge of the food must have seen my show and is a fan. Because of that reality show, I gained millions of followers! Now I'm kind of a celebrity." Emily didn't have the heart to burst her bubble. "Olivia, do you know how much the ingredients for these dishes cost?" Olivia blinked, puzzled. "Uh, I'm not a seafood seller. How would I know? If you want to eat, I can buy some for you. You're a great cook, you can make it for Mr. Satan." Emily sighed, rubbing her forehead. "Do you know how much the person in charge of the food at the hospital earns per month?" Olivia was even more confused. "Emily, why are you asking this?" "I just want to tell you, if that person bought king crab for you every day, he'd be bankrupt in no time." Emily saw Olivia still didn't get it and added, "Even if he's your biggest fan, he wouldn't go that far." Olivia put down the seafood, clapped her hands, and said, "So...you're saying I shouldn't accept these things because it would bankrupt him?" She thought for a moment, then nodded in agreement. "You're right. He likes me, but I can't let him spend his own money to buy these things for me. I'll pay him back this afternoon and stop eating at the cafeteria." Emily took her hand and said seriously, "Haven't you considered that someone else is paying for these things and asking him to make them for you?" Olivia laughed. "No way. My dad's still in bed. He can't go to the seafood store in his sleep, can he? My mom has been with him the whole time and hasn't left his side. She couldn't have done it either." "It's not your dad or your mom," Emily hinted further. "There's someone else who has been quietly doing things for you. Haven't you noticed?" Olivia suddenly understood. "Oh! I know!" Finally, she got it.Emily smiled. "It's you!" Olivia hugged Emily. "How did I not think of this? It must be you! You care about me and know I've been taking care of my dad, so you had the chef make me good food, right?" Emily: "…It's not me." "Who else could it be?" Olivia giggled. "Don't deny it. It has to be you! I was wondering why something so nice would happen. Turns out it was you. Hahaha..." Emily sighed and asked, "Haven't you ever considered that it's Allen Parker who did all this for you?" Olivia was stunned. "You didn't want to join your dad's company, so he got you a job at Starlight Entertainment, and put you to work with Lucas. You were exhausted taking care of your dad, so he arranged for special meals just for you..." "Stop, stop, stop..." Olivia interrupted. "Emily, you haven't worked with Allen Parker. You don't know him. He's super stingy. He doesn't even reimburse me for buying him a cup of coffee! Do you know how much a Starbucks costs? He drinks one every day, which costs me $300 a month! How could he possibly spend so much money to buy me expensive seafood? It's impossible." Emily leaned on her hand, smiling. "Then where do the donuts you eat every day come from?" "The shopkeeper gives them to me. He says they didn't sell out, so he gives them all to me. Why?" "Isn't it a coincidence? Every time you go, they just happen to have unsold donuts? He doesn't give them to anyone else, only to you?" Olivia was completely stunned, her mouth opening and closing but unable to speak. Emily patiently did the math for her. "A donut costs $10, right? How many do you get each day?" "…Four or five, I guess." "Let's say four, that's $40. Doesn't that cover a cup of coffee?"
