Pampered By Billionaires After Betrayal

Chapter 309 Deceived Again

She finally got it all figured out! Recently, Grace had been overly friendly, accompanying her for shopping and meals every day. Mandy thought Grace was being extra nice because she had lost her support after the divorce. Little did she realize that Grace was still scheming and had used her again. Mandy was so furious she was shaking, and she dropped her spoon on the floor. Norman family used silverware, so the clattering sound was really sharp. “Mandy, what’s going on with you today?” Alex asked, his face slightly darkened. “You’ve got a grudge against Emily, but that’s all because Grace fed you some bad info. Emily’s a kind girl, and she’s not upset with you. Why are you dropping spoons?” Mandy looked distressed, glancing at Alex, her lips trembling, but she couldn’t speak for a long time. Meggie, calmly eating her meal, said, “This incident shows that the kind of wife you choose will shape the future of your family. It’s a big deal for a family. Look at Grace and her disgraceful daughter; you see what kind of person Grace is. You shouldn’t be making friends with her… she’s way too scheming for you.” Meggie’s words were pretty harsh, and Mandy’s eyes instantly reddened. She knew she had been foolish. For years, Meggie always thought she was incapable, that many decisions in the Norman family were made by her and Alex, and she was just a figurehead. That was bearable, since Meggie was older and a senior. But now, with Emily about to get married and Meggie planning to have Emily manage the household, how could Mandy accept it? Mandy gritted her teeth, looking down in silence. Bryden tried to protect her, and sweet-talked Meggie, “Grandma, try this tofu pudding; it’s really soft and smooth, plus it’s good for calcium.” Meggie knew what was going on and smiled, “Bryden, you’ve grown up. You should hurry up and find a good wife, you know?” “I’m not in a rush,” Bryden joked, “My big brother just got married. I’m several years younger.” “How can you not be in a rush? Both of you are my grandsons. Your big brother’s baby is about to be born, and you don’t even have a girlfriend yet. If you wait another two years, all the good girls might be married off!” As people get older, they tend to worry a lot about their descendants’ marriages. Meggie wasn’t in great health, and she hoped her grandsons would marry and have children soon so she could see her great-grandchildren. Thinking of this, Meggie sighed wistfully, “I don’t want Janet to get married too soon. She’s so innocent like her mother, it’s really worrisome…” Emily, sitting next to her, smiled and tried to ease the tension, “Janet is pretty and has a great personality; she’ll surely have many good boys interested in her. We can help her choose, but ultimately, she has to make the desicion.” “That’s a must,” Meggie said with satisfaction, “You’re her sister-in-law, and Janet likes you. You young people think alike, so you can help her.” Alex laughed, “Yes, Emily will handle this. I’m confident.” After breakfast, Meggie was off to church as usual. Everyone left her room. Mandy was fuming and walked ahead quickly, bypassing everyone. Bryden had no choice but to follow after her. Satan and Emily walked slowly behind, side by side with Alex. “Emily, how’s your health lately?” Emily nodded, “I’m doing well, you don’t need to worry about me.” “You’re carrying our family’s first grandson, how can I not worry?” Alex rubbed his hands, speaking sincerely, “Mandy is just not very perceptive; she’s easily manipulated. Don’t hold it against her.” Mandy’s hostility started when she met Grace. Emily understood. While she didn’t have a high opinion of Mandy, she didn’t harbor any significant hostility either. From a woman’s perspective, she could actually understand Mandy’s feelings. After a lifetime of struggle, just as Mandy was about to become the real lady of the house, Emily’s presence threatened her position. It was normal for Mandy to feel insecure. Emily nodded, “Don’t worry, I understand.”“You’re a smart kid. I won’t say more,” Alex changed the subject, “There’s one more thing I want to ask both of you.” Satan chimed in, “About Logan Morgan?” “Right,” Alex said, “Although he’s working at Taylor Group now, Mr. Taylor is one of ours. Logan… let’s not discuss his work skills. I just don’t trust his character. But he’s Emily’s biological father. You two figure out how to handle him and let me know the result. You don’t need to deal with it personally; I’ll take care of it.” Alex was clear. He was concerned that Logan might retaliate and cause trouble for Emily, so he wanted to plan ahead. “You don’t have to worry about my feelings,” Emily said, “Handle him however you think is right. Whether it’s firing him or keeping him, it’s up to you. I’ve made it clear to him that my father is william, and I have no relation with him.” With Emily’s confirmation, Alex felt reassured, “Alright, I know what to do. But that’s for later. Right now, the most important thing is your wedding. Planning a wedding is exhausting. You both need to rest well. The wedding must be grand.” Alex spoke with a strong, reassuring tone. “Thanks, Dad,” Satan said sincerely. Alex waved his hand, “No need to thank me; we’re family. I’ll go check on Mandy now. You drive carefully on your way back.”
