Pampered By Billionaires After Betrayal

Chapter 282 Secrets Of The Hilton Hotel

All the blood rushed to Emily's head, leaving her momentarily unable to react. The woman, seemingly not hearing a response, asked again, "Hello? Who is this?" Emily was still in shock. Mr. Satan had once told her that this number was his private number! Only his assistant and she knew it! But why was this woman answering his phone? Did Mr. Satan allow this? The woman's voice was unfamiliar. Emily was certain she had never heard it before. This woman wasn't anyone she had ever met. It meant one thing. Mr. Satan had protected this woman well. Who was she... Emily felt her doubts almost bursting out of her body, but her throat felt like it was stuffed with cotton, unable to utter a single word. The woman muttered, somewhat puzzled, "Why aren't you speaking? The call connected..." "Whose call?" A man's voice came from a distance. It was him! Emily's heart leaped into her throat. It was him, Mr. Satan! Even though she hadn't seen his face, Emily was very familiar with his voice! A growing sense of dread spiraled in her mind, but she was still unwilling to believe it. Unless Mr. Satan personally brought this woman before her, she wouldn't believe it. The woman's voice was gentle and soft, sounding like a wealthy young lady. "I don't know. It's an unregistered number, just a string of digits. I asked several times, but no one answered. Simon, do you want to take the call?" Mr. Satan replied quickly, "Don't worry about it. You just had surgery, don't stand around too much. Come sit and rest." "Okay."The call was disconnected. Emily stood there for an unknown amount of time, still holding the phone, unable to snap out of it. Until the doorbell rang, pulling her back to reality. Was it Olivia? Emily quickly composed herself in front of the mirror, trying to appear as normal as possible, and went to open the door. "Hi! Emily." Emily saw the visitor and smiled politely. "Bryden? I thought you had left. Why are you back?" Bryden was holding a bag. He lifted it and handed it to her. "Emily, you left your bag in my car. I only realized it after driving for a while." Emily awkwardly clutched the bag, feeling a bit at a loss. In over twenty-six years, she had always been meticulous and had never lost anything. Today, she had left her bag in Bryden's car. What was wrong with her today... Bryden seemed to have the same question. "Emily, are you feeling unwell today? You really don't look well. Shouldn't you go to the hospital?" Emily declined his concern. "I just didn't sleep well. Thank you for bringing my bag back. Did I hold you up?" "Not at all," Bryden shrugged nonchalantly and peeked into the apartment, curious. "Have you always lived here?" Emily invited Bryden inside. "Would you like something to drink? It's just us girls living here, so we don't have any alcohol. How about some water?" Bryden sat on the couch, taking in the small apartment. "Water is fine, anything is good." Emily went to the kitchen to bring some fruit and snacks, and set them on the coffee table, managing to make it look somewhat hospitable. Bryden was easygoing. "Emily, don't trouble yourself. I'll be leaving soon." Emily smiled, apologetically. "I just got back from Germany recently and haven't had time to tidy up. It's a bit messy." "Not at all, a tidy place is a hotel, a bit of mess makes it home," Bryden said, glancing at the shoe rack. "Does my brother also live here with you?" The shoe rack had only girls' shoes, mostly Olivia's. Emily had just one pair of canvas shoes and a pair of slippers. She hadn't even changed into slippers in her haste and was still wearing the canvas shoes. There wasn't a single pair of men's shoes. The entire home bore no signs of a man's presence. Bryden understood what this meant, but his good manners prevented him from asking. She was pregnant, yet living at a friend's place. Knowing Vincent's personality, this was impossible unless they hadn't been living here originally and something happened, making Emily move here alone. Coupled with Vincent not accompanying Emily home today, Bryden had a rough idea of what had happened. Emily shook her head. "This is my friend's place. I'm just staying here temporarily." "May I ask, where did you live before? Did my brother buy you a house?" "We stayed in a hotel." Bryden was shocked. "A hotel?!" "Yes," Emily nodded. "You've been living in a hotel all these months?" "That's right." Bryden bit his finger, feeling something was off. "Was it the Hilton Hotel?" Emily frowned slightly. "That's right." The water boiled just then. Emily made a cup of hot tea and placed it in front of Bryden. "Have some water." Bryden, however, had no mind to drink. His thoughts were in chaos. "Emily, sorry, but I have something urgent to attend to. I must go," Bryden suddenly said, standing up and heading for the door. Emily saw him off, but Bryden declined her escort. "No need to see me out. Go back and rest." With that, he quickly left. Olivia's apartment was on the fifth floor. Bryden, unable to wait for the elevator, took the stairs down, drove home, and rushed inside. He remembered his grandmother mentioning that Vincent was discovered and adopted by their father at the Hilton Hotel. Vincent had been abandoned by his original family, but how did he end up at the Hilton Hotel, and how did his father find him? This part of the story seemed crucial.
