Pampered By Billionaires After Betrayal

Chapter 246 The Marriage Is Fake

Emily found herself unable to utter the words. It wasn't that she didn't want to; she was just too shy. Mr. Satan was slightly disappointed but gently squeezed her hand. "No rush. I can wait." He turned on the room's lights, instantly illuminating the space brightly. Emily looked at his masked face, hesitating. "We don’t have to turn on the lights. I'm used to it." Mr. Satan replied, "I've also grown accustomed to darkness, but now I want to experience the light." "But wearing a mask in the room must be uncomfortable," Emily said. "Let’s turn off the lights. After all, it’s just a week. I can wait." She turned off the lights, and the room returned to complete darkness. Mr. Satan held her hand, standing right in front of her. In the darkness, Emily’s hand gradually found the white mask on his face and moved to untie the string at the back of his head. She removed the mask. She could feel Mr. Satan's breathing become noticeably heavier. "Emily." Emily paused, holding the mask. "Yes?" Mr. Satan's breath was uneven. "Nothing." He leaned down and embraced her. Emily laughed softly, hugging him back. "What’s wrong? Do you have something to tell me?" "I have to go back to the States tomorrow." Emily nodded. "It’s okay. You have your own matters to attend to. You don’t have to stay with me all the time." "But I don't want to leave." Emily felt warm inside. "It's just a week. After that, nothing will separate us. We’ll wait for our baby to be born and give him a warm home." "Emily..."Emily sighed softly. "What’s gotten into you today?" "I made a mistake. Will you blame me?" "Hmm," Emily thought for a moment. "That depends on what it is. If you lied to me or fell for another woman, I might not be able to stay calm." Mr. Satan buried his face in her neck, taking a deep breath. "When you married Nathan..." "Yes?" "You never actually got married." Emily froze in shock. "What?" "I admit it was my doing," Mr. Satan's voice sounded helpless. "The process of registering your marriage was fake. You and Nathan were never legally married. When you went to get a divorce, it was also fake. I just wanted to use the divorce as an excuse to make you break ties with Nathan... Am I terrifying? You don’t have to answer. I know I must be crazy. I couldn't just watch you marry another man, so I..." So that was it. Emily took several minutes to regain her composure. So, things were like this! Which meant she was never Nathan’s wife? She was still single! This realization made her somewhat elated. She didn’t mind the four years she spent or the feelings she wasted. What mattered was that she was never Nathan’s wife, not ever. "Mr. Satan..." "Yes, Emily, do you fear me? I changed your life without your consent." "No," Emily said. "I'm relieved." He sighed. "Emily, you can blame me. Jackson told me that in your eyes, I gave you freedom and respect, letting you live according to your wishes... But I betrayed your trust." Emily blinked. "You met Jackson?" "Yes, just before coming to Germany." Mr. Satan said. "That guy drank with me all night. We almost bought out the whole bar. He got drunk and begged me to take good care of you." Emily was more worried about him. "Did you get drunk too? Drinking like that is harmful! And with your mask, what if Jackson tried to remove it while you were drunk?" "I'm not that foolish," Mr. Satan said. "And neither is Jackson. He might have had that idea, but I was prepared. We acted out a play all night until we were both exhausted. Jackson eventually gave up and told me everything." Emily pouted. "You’re lying to me again." "Sorry, but I’ll never forget my promise to you." Emily frowned. "Is there anything else you're hiding from me?" Mr. Satan hesitated. Emily could feel his arms stiffen slightly around her. "Is it inconvenient to say?" "It's not inconvenient. Some things, if told, would only make you sad. So, I'll handle them myself. Emily, I want you to always be happy." Emily felt relieved and sighed. This was it. He was the one. In a week, she would be his bride and spend the rest of her life with him. They fell asleep in each other's arms. In her dream, Mr. Satan wore a white suit and led her to a church. Two cute children held the train of her wedding dress. Olivia and Amanda were there, with Olivia scattering flower petals and Amanda officiating the ceremony. William was fully recovered. He walked her down the aisle and placed her hand in Mr. Satan’s. Everything was so beautiful. When Emily woke up, Mr. Satan was no longer in the room. She found a text message from him on her phone: "I went back home to handle the last bit of business. When you return, we’ll get married. —Satan"
