Pampered By Billionaires After Betrayal
"Vincent, how could you become like this?" Alex looked at Mr. Satan incredulously. "Mandy is my wife and your mother. How could you..." "Dad," Mr. Satan's tone was icy. "You defend your wife, and I defend mine. If your wife can't be slandered, can mine be slandered?" Alex was momentarily speechless. "Vincent, Why do you like Emily? Do you know she's been married before?" "Who said she's been married?" Mr. Satan chuckled coldly. "You haven't even verified the source of the news, let alone its authenticity. You shouldn't hastily jump to conclusions. This is something you taught me when I was starting out in business. Have you forgotten?" Mr. Satan's words finally brought Alex back to his senses. The news that Emily had been married to Nathan came from Mandy, who had shown him the marriage certificate, but he hadn't personally verified it. His gaze slowly shifted towards Mandy. Mandy, angered, said, "Alex, what are you thinking? Do you suspect I'm deliberately framing Emily?" "No, Mandy, calm down," Alex reassured her, then turned to Mr. Satan. "Vincent, please have your men leave first. Today, I will uncover the truth behind this." Mr. Satan waved his hand, and Dylan nodded slightly, leading the black-clad bodyguards to quickly depart. Mandy finally gained her freedom and threw herself into Bryden's arms. Vincent's demeanor had been terrifying, something she had never seen from him before. "Alright, let me say something." Meggie slowly sat up with Bella's support, her face still pale. Alex approached first. "Mom, how are you feeling now?" Meggie sighed softly. "Today, if Vincent hadn't been here, I might really have been driven to my death by anger." Alex looked troubled. "Mom, Mandy was impulsive. I'll talk some sense into her." "It's not sense that your wife needs, it's intelligence," Meggie sighed helplessly. "She believes anything she hears outside and brings it home. This is deliberate!" "Mom...""Stop talking," Meggie waved her hand and looked earnestly at Emily. "Emily, come here." Alex made way, and Emily stepped forward, taking Meggie's hand. "I'm here." "Don't be afraid, I'll protect you." Emily felt a lump in her throat. "I'm fine. I'm used to it. Take care of your health." "I'm perfectly fine! I haven't even seen my great-grandson yet. I'll definitely stay alive!" Meggie coughed lightly, and Emily quickly patted her chest to help her breathe. Meggie's face was pale, her hands cold. Emily asked Bella, "Bella, do we have ginseng tea at home?" "Yes, we do." "Please make a cup of ginseng tea." "Alright, I'll go get it." Bella quickly made the ginseng tea and brought it back. Emily personally fed Meggie a few sips. After a few minutes, Meggie's complexion visibly improved. She asked, "Mandy, do you have any evidence that Emily was married to someone else?" Mandy had prepared for this and handed over the proof. "Take a look." Meggie glanced at it and chuckled softly. "I don't need to see it. Alex, send someone to the city hall now to verify if Emily is married." Meggie had made up her mind. She couldn't let Mandy verify this; Alex had to do it. Alex nodded. "Alright, I'll send someone right away." Emily glanced at Mr. Satan, who stood silently, his expression resolute. Emily felt reassured. His lack of objection meant he approved of this course of action. Let's just wait and see. About half an hour later, the person Alex sent returned with the exact same proof. "Boss, we've checked. Emily's marital status is single." Emily was taken aback, then looked at Mr. Satan. He was subtly smirking, his posture confident."You hear that?" Meggie snorted coldly. "Alex, the truth has come out." Alex frowned deeply, his face darkening slightly. "I hear you, Mom." "Do you still have any objections to Vincent and Emily's marriage? If you do, speak now, so we don't have to hear accusations from your wife again next time." Alex shook his head. "I have no objections. Emily, today you've been wronged. We owe you an apology." This outcome caught Emily off guard. "It's okay..." "You've made mistakes and wronged an innocent person. A simple apology is enough?" Meggie frowned. "Emily is an innocent girl. You've slandered and attacked her. Now, is a simple apology enough? Alex, you have a daughter too. If Janet were attacked and insulted by her husband's family, what would you do?" Alex sighed heavily. "You're right, Emily, you can ask for any compensation you want, and I'll do my best to fulfill it." "I don't need any compensation," Emily said. "Actually, this isn't Mandy's fault either. She was just misled by someone else's words. Meggie has always believed in me, and I'm touched. But I don't want this incident to strain our relationships. Can we just let it go?" Alex felt relieved and added with a hint of gratitude, "Emily, thank you." "Sure." Meggie sighed. "Emily, you're too soft-hearted." Emily smiled and said, "I can be tough on outsiders, but I have to be soft-hearted with my family. If Vincent and I get married in the future, I'll see Mandy often."
