Pampered By Billionaires After Betrayal

Chapter 164 A New Plan

When James Taylor received Olivia’s call, he already had an inkling of Emily’s intentions. Emily didn’t truly want Logan Morgan to be the chief designer of the shopping center; she had a bigger plan. However, James Taylor didn’t mind. He trusted Emily and had benefited greatly from Satan's sacrifices, so he was willing to cooperate with Emily unconditionally. James Taylor began contacting Logan Morgan while Emily continued her work. There were only four hours left until the concert. She followed Lucas’s team to the stadium and started applying makeup to Lucas backstage. “You haven’t rested well lately, have you? Your dark circles are quite noticeable.” Emily layered concealer to cover them up. Lucas sighed as he sat in the chair. “Emily, can you do me a favor?” “Huh?” Emily paused. “I’m just a makeup artist; what can I do for you?” “Of course, you can. Please, persuade Olivia to stop liking me. I’m really about to have a nervous breakdown because of the boss…” Lucas kept sighing. When Amanda walked in and saw him, she chuckled. “Emily, don’t pay him any mind.” Emily’s hands moved swiftly yet gently. She could already guess the reason. Olivia was a fervent fan of Lucas and knew everything about him. Allen Parker was a proud man; how could he not be jealous? Allen Parker didn’t dare to provoke Olivia, so he vented his frustration on Lucas. “Has the boss been assigning you a lot of work?” “No, it’s just that during my concert period, I can’t take on too much work,” Lucas said, slumping his shoulders. “But the boss has been dragging me to the gym every day. Each session lasts four hours, and I can’t keep up…” Amanda burst out laughing. “Isn’t it good that the boss works out with you?” “But I still have to work!” “The boss works too, and he’s full of energy.” “The boss is practically a superhuman. He’s a work machine without feelings. I’m just a mortal; I need sleep!”Amanda retorted, “Then why don’t you have the guts to tell the boss directly?” Lucas instantly deflated. “I don’t dare, which is why I’m asking Emily for help. Now when the boss smiles at me, I get scared. Everyone except Olivia knows what the boss means to her. I just want future Mrs. Parker to leave me alone. I don’t want to anger my boss…” Seeing this idol turn into a bundle of grievances, Emily couldn’t help but laugh. “I’ve hinted to her several times, but Olivia’s feelings for you are unwavering. There’s nothing I can do.” Lucas groaned and ruffled his hair in frustration. “Oh my God… Amanda, how much longer is my contract with the company?” “Hmm, if I remember correctly, ten more years.” “Ten years? I’ll be 40 by the time I leave the company…” “Yeah.” Amanda patted his shoulder, signaling Emily to continue his makeup. “But it’s okay. A man in his forties can still be charming. You can play the father of young actors in movies.” Lucas let out a wail and had nothing more to say. However, Lucas was indeed a natural-born star. No matter how tired he was offstage, he became energetic and charismatic once onstage. With the positive feedback from the previous concert, this one was even more popular. Female fans were so excited that some fainted and were sent to the hospital. Some fervent fans tried to sneak backstage, but Amanda had anticipated this, and none succeeded. During the intermission, Emily hurriedly touched up Lucas’s makeup. When Lucas went back on stage, Emily could hear the enthusiastic screams of the fans from backstage. Amanda patted her shoulder and said, “There’s no more makeup work for tonight. You should go home and rest early. Do you want me to have someone take you home?” Just then, Emily’s phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID and politely declined Amanda’s offer. “No need, I’ll head out now.” Knowing that someone was picking her up, Amanda nodded. “Okay, be careful on your way home.” Emily quickly left the venue, answering the phone as she walked. “Are you here?” “Yes, I’m in the parking lot,” came Mr. Satan’s voice from the other end of the line. “Don’t run; walk slowly.” Emily found his car in the underground garage. As soon as she approached, the door was opened from the inside, and a pair of strong hands pulled her in. “Ah…” “Don’t be scared, it’s me.” Mr. Satan sat her on his lap and gently tapped her nose. “Are you tired? What do you want to eat tonight?” Emily shifted to a comfortable position in his arms. “Let’s just go home and eat.” “I’m worried you’re tired.” “I’m not tired,” Emily said. “I still feel very energetic.” Mr. Satan laughed at her words. “James Taylor is very efficient. He’s already negotiating an offer with Logan Morgan. Logan Morgan is actually easy to handle; just give him enough face, and he’ll waver easily.” “Because he lost face in the Reed Group, he urgently needs to prove himself,” Emily’s smile faded slightly. “James Taylor offered him a million annual salary, the title of chief designer for the largest shopping mall in New York City, and a grand welcome ceremony. I don’t believe he won’t be tempted.” Mr. Satan said, “Grace and Sophia probably never dreamed that their money would be used this way.” “Mr. Satan, I’m starting to doubt my mom’s judgment. What’s so good about Logan Morgan that made her risk her life to have a child for him?” “Maybe it wasn’t about Logan Morgan; it was about you,” Mr. Satan said. “She couldn’t bear to give you up.” Emily nodded. “You’re right. No mother in this world would give up her child’s life. As long as there’s a glimmer of hope, she would fight with all her strength, even at the cost of her own life. I’m the same way. Anyone who dares to hurt our child, I won’t let them off!” Mr. Satan didn’t say anything, seemingly stunned by her words. “Mr. Satan? Did you hear what I said?” He snapped out of his reverie. “What?” “What were you thinking about just now?” Mr. Satan took a deep breath and hugged her tightly. “Nothing, just thinking that motherly love is very great. I hope every mother can love her child like that.”
