Pampered By Billionaires After Betrayal

Chapter 158 Her Mother's Death

The next morning at 6 AM, Mr. Satan woke Emily up. They arrived at the gynecological hospital they had booked by 7 AM. The private hospital wasn't crowded, so they completed the checkup smoothly. At noon, they had lunch at a nearby restaurant, and in the afternoon, they picked up the examination report. The doctor smiled, "Don't worry, both the mother and baby are very healthy." Emily was still a bit concerned, "Doctor, can you tell me if the baby's position is correct?" "Everything looks great, no issues. Why do you ask?" Emily signed slightly, "My mother had an issue with the baby's position, which caused severe bleeding and she passed away while giving birth to me. It makes me a bit scared." The doctor was surprised, "Incorrect positioning shouldn't cause severe bleeding. Usually, severe bleeding is due to an ectopic pregnancy, but ectopic pregnancies can't reach nine months. Which hospital did your mother give birth at?" "St. Mary's Hospital," Emily replied. "That's a well-known hospital. The doctors there wouldn't make such mistakes," the doctor muttered softly. "The medical standards at St. Mary's are quite high. Are you sure your mother died from severe bleeding?" This question caught Emily off guard. She had only heard about her mother's death from her uncle, but he was a young man at the time and didn't know much about childbirth. "Sorry, let me call my family to confirm." The doctor nodded, "You'd better confirm it. Some pathological conditions can be hereditary. If your mother had a condition that could cause severe bleeding, I need to run more tests on you." Emily nodded, took her phone, and left the examination room. Mr. Satan was waiting outside, "What's wrong? You don't look well. Is our baby not okay?" "The baby is fine," Emily said, "I just asked about my mother's death, and the doctor's response differed from what my uncle told me. I want to clarify it." Mr. Satan reassured her, "Alright, go ahead."Emily called Bert. Bert answered quickly, "Emily?" "Bert, I wanted to ask you something. Did my mother give birth to me at St. Mary's Hospital?" "Yes," Bert replied, puzzled, "Why are you asking this out of the blue?" "It's nothing. I just suddenly thought of my mother. Bert, do you remember why my mother died?" Bert sighed, "I remember. Your mother had a premature delivery and was in the delivery room for two days before you were born. But after you were born, she died. The doctor said she died from severe bleeding." "Are you sure it was severe bleeding?" "I remember clearly. The doctor said it was because of the incorrect position of the baby, causing severe bleeding. The day your mother died, her bed was covered in blood, and the white sheets were all red..." Emily felt her blood run cold. "Emily?" "Yes," Emily tried to calm herself. "I understand. How's my father doing?" Bert sounded happy, "He's getting better every day. The doctors your friend found are amazing. Your father can walk now!" "That's good. Bert, if you need anything, call me." "We have enough things. The doctors and caregivers your friend hired are very professional. Emily, don't worry about us. Take care of yourself..." After a few more words, Emily hung up. Mr. Satan had already sensed something was wrong. "Emily..." "Mr. Satan, I remember you said the doctor who gave me the infertility diagnosis was connected to Grace?" Mr. Satan said, "Yes, they are old acquaintances." A terrible suspicion swirled in Emily's mind. She was almost unable to stand, but Mr. Satan caught her, "Emily, are you alright?" "I'm fine." "Do you suspect that doctor had something to do with your mother's death?" Emily nodded, then shook her head, "I don't know yet, but it seems my mother's death wasn't so simple." Back in the examination room, Emily relayed Bert's exact words to the doctor. The doctor's brow furrowed, "No, the baby's position usually adjusts itself during labor. Even if it doesn't, doctors will help the mother. They wouldn't let a mother suffer like that." Emily took a deep breath, "What if the doctor doesn't help?" "Then the mother's vaginal area would tear. Oh, right, if it tears, severe bleeding could happen. But the doctors at St. Mary's are experienced. They wouldn't watch a mother die from childbirth. Even with severe bleeding, the hospital would give blood transfusions and have many ways to save the mother's life." But what if that doctor wanted Emily's mother to die? Emily broke out in a cold sweat, afraid to think more. "Thank you," Mr. Satan said, picking up Emily. "Emily, let's go home." Sitting in the car, Emily was silent. Her mind was filled with the image of her mother struggling to give birth while the doctor stood by, doing nothing as her mother bled to death... "Emily." "Yes?" Emily snapped back to reality and rubbed her aching temples. "What did you say? I wasn't paying attention." Mr. Satan touched her pale cheek, "I've already arranged for an investigation into which doctor was in your mother's delivery room. We'll have results soon." Emily nodded, nuzzling against his warm hand, "Mr. Satan, I've always found it suspicious that Grace and Logan Morgan got together so coincidentally. I used to think they just liked each other, but considering my mother's death, I feel there might be more to it." Mr. Satan had thought of that too. He had just contacted Dylan to investigate. But given it was over twenty years ago, it would take some time. "Don't overthink it. Wait for my news." Emily nods. Her heart ached, filled with sorrow. She couldn't calm down. Emily had a night full of dreams. She dreamt of her mother calling her name, and then of Grace's hypocritical face, smiling as she told Herry to call her sister. When she woke up in the morning, Mr. Satan was still by her side. "You didn't go to work?" "Emily," Mr. Satan's face was slightly serious, "I have received the results." She froze. "Emma Green, a gynecologist at St. Mary's. She was Grace's neighbor and friend. She was the one who delivered you."
