Pampered By Billionaires After Betrayal

Chapter 147 Malicious And Innocent

The Reed villa was located in Manhattan, New York, adjacent to a wetland park, a neighborhood filled with the wealthy. Grace was very pleased with this location. She had Logan Morgan buy a villa nearby, just less than a hundred meters from the Reed household. Of course, the happiest person was Sophia. With Grace living nearby, even if Carol wanted to bully her, she could quickly find backup. Also, if she was unhappy at the Reed house, she could always go back. Today, the sunlight was just right. Grace brought in a cup of tea, placing it in front of Sophia, and sat down on the sofa, "This tea was a gift to your father. Try it." Sophia, however, had no interest in tea, "Mom, I don't want to drink it." "Stop making that face. Tell me, what's wrong this time?" Sophia, full of grievances, couldn't wait to pour it all out, "Mom, Nathan went to see Emily again." Grace paused her tea-drinking, "Did he tell you?" "No, it's a bit complicated," Sophia sighed, her expression uneasy and tinged with frustration, "It was Emily. She called me, told me to keep Nathan away from her, said she didn't want to see him." "Huh! She's got quite a bit of nerve now!" Grace chuckled lightly, "Did you forget what I taught you last time?" "I didn't forget. You told me to act gentle and considerate. I did, and Nathan believed it, but when Emily called, I lost my temper. I said some unpleasant things. Who knew she was so despicable, putting me on speakerphone, so Nathan heard everything…" Grace's face darkened as she listened. She slammed the teacup down on the table, her expression not looking good, "Why can't you control your temper? What good does it do to lash out at Emily? She can still steal your man! Why do you always mess up on these trivial matters? I worked so hard to make Nathan like you a bit, and now it's all gone! How did I raise such a useless daughter?!" Sophia pulled at her hair in frustration, "Mom, stop scolding me. I'm not like you, I've told you before, I don't have patience like you. I can't keep pretending to be gentle; I don't want to live like this anymore.""Then give up and leave Nathan. With Logan Morgan's connections, I can find you a good man." Sophia's eyes widened, firmly disagreeing, "No, I've worked too hard for this. I must marry Nathan!" "Then bear with it!" Grace was angry, "Tell me exactly what happened, every detail." Sophia had no choice but to recount the phone conversation with Emily. Grace listened, tapping her fingers lightly on the coffee table, seemingly deep in thought. "Mom, why aren't you saying anything?" Grace glared at her, "I'm thinking. Let me ask you, where is Emily living now?" Sophia shook her head, "I only know she's staying at the Hilton Hotel, but I don't know her room number." "How did Nathan find out her room number?" Sophia was stunned, not understanding immediately, "You mean…" "Are you stupid? Besides Emily, who else would know where she lives?" Sophia gasped, "You mean Emily told Nathan? She did it on purpose?" "More or less," Grace's mouth curled into a mocking smile, "This Emily is quite skilled. I really underestimated her before." Sophia shook her head, "Mom, I don't think so. Emily has a new man now, the one with the mask. He seems quite wealthy. Emily might not want to go back to Nathan." "She might not want back to Nathan, but she definitely wants revenge," Grace said angrily, "You took her husband. She found someone richer; do you think she'd forgive you? She's wanted to see her father all her life, you know that better than I do. Now Logan Morgan doesn't accept her but acknowledges you as his daughter. Do you think she doesn't hate you? She's doing this on purpose. She's getting back at us." "She's so malicious!" Sophia gritted her teeth, her eyes filled with resentment, "No wonder Logan Morgan dumped her mother. Her mother must have been a bad woman too." Grace laughed smugly, "Lisa? She was an i.diot. If Emily were as stupid as Lisa, she'd have been out of New York long ago." "Why is Emily so hard to deal with? Mom, teach me, what should I do now?" Grace sneered, "What else can you do? The most important thing now is to hold the wedding. Everything else can be dealt with later. Now go back and let me think. When you see Nathan, don't rush to explain, ignore him for a few days." Sophia said nothing more. After a moment of hesitation, she stood up to leave. "Sophia's leaving?" Logan Morgan came down from his study on the second floor, just in time to see Sophia preparing to leave. Grace immediately put on a gentle, considerate smile and greeted him, "Sophia is busy with wedding preparations. Dear, I made you some tea, try it." Logan Morgan smiled as he took a sip, "It's a bit weak." "I'll make it stronger next time," Grace didn't argue, agreeing obediently. Sophia called out, "Dad." "My daughter," Logan Morgan smiled warmly, unable to see Grace's true intentions. He always thought Grace was an admiring, submissive woman and believed Sophia to be a simple girl. He smiled, "On your wedding day, I'll walk you down the aisle." Sophia smiled, "Thank you, Dad." "We're family." Grace added softly, "Sophia, don't come here too often, or Carol might get upset. You should head home." "Alright." Logan Morgan frowned, "Sophia is going home; her mother-in-law has no authority over her. Sophia, don't be afraid. If she treats you poorly, come back here. The Reed family needs my help now; they wouldn't dare mistreat you."
