Pampered By Billionaires After Betrayal

Chapter 139 He Arrived!

This time, she touched his face more carefully. Mr. Satan had excellent bone structure. His brow bone was high, his nose straight, and his jawline sharp. Without the scar on the right side of his face, his looks would rival any male celebrity’s. Her hand gently caressed the scar. Her touch was like a feather, her fingertips warm and tender. “Are you afraid?” In the darkness, Mr. Satan's voice held a trace of tension. His Adam’s apple bobbed slightly as he asked. Emily shook her head. “I’m not afraid. The scar isn’t your fault; the blame lies with the person who hurt you.” Mr. Satan stroked her soft hair and sighed contentedly. “Emily, thank you. Let’s sleep.” “Are you tired?” “No, I’m worried you might be.” Emily obediently lay in his arms and closed her eyes. In truth, she wasn’t tired. She had spent the entire day at home. This room had no internet or TV signal. Aside from cooking and sleeping, she had done nothing, so she wasn’t sleepy at all. But she knew Mr. Satan had scars not only on his face but also in his heart. The wound in his heart was far more painful than the one on his face. When people face things they don’t want to confront, they instinctively choose to avoid them. Mr. Satan didn’t want to talk about the origin of his scar, just as she didn’t want to recall the day Carol and Nathan threw her out of the house. That day, her clothes scattered on the ground, covered in dust, dirty and disheveled. And she, like those clothes, was unwanted, cast out by them. Perhaps Mr. Satan’s embrace was too warm. Despite not being very tired, she quickly fell into a dream. Half asleep, she felt the warmth beside her decrease. Mr. Satan had left. Was it already morning? Just as she was about to open her eyes, he kissed her eyelids. Mr. Satan whispered in her ear, “Emily, today is a new day.”Yes, a new day. Forget all the past unhappiness and look forward. This was the third lesson Mr. Satan taught her, and she would remember it well. When she woke again, it was already noon. The curtains kept the sunlight out, leaving the room dark and quiet. She slowly sat up and drew the curtains, letting the bright sunlight flood the room, making her squint. Though blinding, the sunlight was warm. “You’re awake?” Emily was startled, instinctively clutching the quilt and looking towards the living room. A familiar silhouette sat on the living room sofa, holding a remote and watching a game, though his mind was clearly elsewhere. “Pregnant women can really sleep, huh? I’ve been waiting for you for a long time.” Emily quickly got out of bed, grabbed some clothes from the wardrobe, and began dressing, instinctively searching for her phone. “Are you looking for your phone? Don’t bother; it’s with me.” Nathan held up her phone, shaking it. “While you were asleep, I used your fingerprint to unlock it. Emily, your world is quite fascinating. Not only do you have Jackson, but also that masked man… he’s called Satan, right?” Emily was furious. “How did you get in?” “I have my ways.” Nathan stood up. Today he was dressed casually, in a blue polo shirt and track pants, wearing a sports watch, looking very different from usual. “Emily, I think I’ve figured out who Mr. Satan is.” Emily shook her head. “I don’t want to hear it. Please leave.” Nathan remained unmoved, even smiling slightly. “Emily, don’t be in such a rush to kick me out. Since I managed to find you today, I can do so again. Wouldn’t it be better to talk things through?” Emily felt a chill in her heart. There were two ways to unlock Room 2307 at the Hilton Hotel. One was by fingerprint, with only Mr. Satan’s and her fingerprints registered, preventing others from unlocking it. The other was by key card. Only the hotel manager had the key card. Emily was now much more cautious in dealing with Nathan. She knew that outright refusal might provoke him. Last time, they were in a public area; this time, they were in a hotel room. Alone, pregnant, and in a confined space with a strong man, she stood no chance. Emily tried to calm herself. Taking a deep breath, she spoke softly. “Mr. Reed, I think there’s nothing left to discuss between us. You’re about to get married. Your future father-in-law will support your career. You have both love and career. Why come to trouble me?” Nathan’s smile faded slightly, especially when she mentioned “love and career,” turning his smile into a sneer. “Emily, you know how I feel. Why say things to provoke me?” Emily said, “Am I wrong?” “Right,” Nathan nodded, stepping closer. “From an outsider’s perspective, that’s exactly it. But I came today to explain things clearly. Logan Morgan is a renowned designer with experience and capability. My family is in real estate. With his help, I can expand the Reed family’s business. If he goes to another company, the Reed family will suffer… I have no choice. If I don’t marry Sophia, Logan Morgan won’t help me. I have no other options…” His demeanor was relatively stable, not as hysterical as before. Emily felt slightly relieved. But he kept advancing, making Emily start inching towards the kitchen. She grabbed a small knife, hiding it behind her back as a last resort. “Mr. Reed, everyone has their destiny. God wants you with Sophia. Being with her will bring you a better future. Isn’t that good?” “But I don’t like Sophia! The thought of spending decades with her makes me despair! Emily, my grandfather chose you for me. He was right. He knew I’d fall for you, and you’d help me keep my secret. He wasn’t wrong about you.” Emily continued to retreat. “Is this what you came to tell me today?” “Not entirely,” Nathan closed his eyes briefly. “Emily, take a walk with me.” Emily refused. “I’m not feeling well today.” “Then I’ll drive. We can talk in the car, and I can tell you who the masked man is.”
