Everything Stolen, I Left to Become CEO

Chapter 315 Why Wasn't I Informed of This Move?

Darcy shrugged. "What can I do? He's still your cousin. Gotta keep the peace." Cindy huffed through her nose. "Nope. Call him out if you need to. Don't let him get away with anything just because he's family!" After their hushed conversation, Cindy returned to her desk, her indignation only growing. She quickly fired off a text to Jethro. An hour later, Jethro emerged from a meeting room with Rowan in tow. Seeing his sister's message, his brow furrowed, his jawline tightening. Rowan, thinking he'd said something wrong, immediately fell silent. Jethro ran a thumb along the edge of his phone, his eyes narrowing thoughtfully. He looked at Rowan. "Is the office space at Stratagem Tech a bit cramped? Go check. If it is, clear out the 15th floor for their use." Rowan blinked. Huh?The instruction seemed to come out of nowhere. But his boss never wasted words. There was always a reason. "Right away." Rowan finished his report and practically flew downstairs. He found Darcy tucked away in a tiny office. Ah. So that's it. The boss is looking out for his girlfriend. He immediately contacted Group Administration to clear and prepare the 15th floor, then notified Darcy and Zephyr's teams that they'd be moving up the following day. Darcy hesitated. "Does Mr. Blackwood—I mean, does Jasper know?" Rowan offered a reassuring smile. "Don't worry about that, Ms. Gale. My boss will handle any fallout." Darcy sighed. She knew Jethro meant well, but she didn't want to be the cause of tension between the cousins. After Rowan left, she called Jethro's direct line. Before she could speak, he preempted her. "I know what you're going to say. Don't worry. I've got this. Let me handle it." "Jethro..." she said, her voice laced with concern. He leaned back in his chair, long legs crossed. For a man who exuded such formidable strength, his voice was unexpectedly gentle. "Be good. Listen to me." Reluctantly, she gave in. "Alright." The next morning, Jenna click-clacked into the office on her stilettos. She'd barely settled at her desk when Jasper called her in. "Get the project status reports for these initiatives from Ms. Gale." Jenna smiled and said, "On it." She reached for Darcy's little office door—only to find it empty. She froze, then a sneer curled her lips. Oh, this is perfect. She dares to skip work? She hurried back to Jasper's office. "Mr. Blackwood, Darcy isn't at her desk." She made a show of checking her watch. "Tsk, it's quite late. For a Vice President to be absent without notice, it doesn't set a good example." Jasper's expression darkened, his gaze sharpening. He stood and walked straight to the small office. It was indeed empty. But then he noticed more. His eyes swept the surrounding area. Zephyr and his entire team were gone. So was Cindy. Just then, Wade approached with his laptop, ready for a scheduled update. Seeing their puzzled looks, he explained, "Oh, Ms. Gale and the team moved to the 15th floor. They started early, around seven." Jasper's frown deepened. He turned and headed for the elevators, Jenna scurrying after him. Inside the elevator, Jenna couldn't resist stirring the pot. "Mr. Blackwood, this is outrageous. Moving without your permission? She's deliberately provoking you. It's obvious she resents you taking over. Why not just fire her?" "Ms. King," Jasper said, pinching the bridge of his nose wearily. "I know what I'm doing." Jenna's face fell, a sour expression settling in. "Yes, Mr. Blackwood." Putting on airs with me. You're putty in my cousin's hands. On the 15th floor, Cindy was in high spirits, handing out cans of soda. "Cheers to our new digs!" Her cheerful expression froze when she spotted the two figures at the entrance. Jenna immediately stepped forward, chin held high. "Who authorized this move? How dare you relocate without notifying Mr. Blackwood first!" The remaining soda can in Cindy's hand hit the floor with a thump. She crossed her arms, giving Jenna a dismissive once-over. "And who are you, exactly? What gives you the right to speak here?"Jenna flushed. "I-I am Mr. Blackwood's assistant." Cindy snorted, "And I'm his cousin. So, what's your point?" Stunned into silence, Jenna retreated behind Jasper, biting her lip in a show of wounded pride. "Mr. Blackwood..." Jasper kept his eyes on Cindy. "Cindy, this is a workplace, not a family reunion. Please remember your position." He glanced past her at the bustling new space. "Why wasn't I informed of this move?" Cindy shrugged, unimpressed. "It's just a seat change—hardly a big deal. No need to tell you." Jasper's face grew colder. Sensing the escalating tension, Zephyr stepped forward, gently placing himself between Cindy and Jasper. "Mr. Blackwood, you misunderstood. We didn't move on a whim. Admin told us to relocate here."
