Everything Stolen, I Left to Become CEO

Chapter 240 An Anonymous Warning

"Voyager really is seeing them first? That's so disrespectful, not following the rules!" Cindy gritted her teeth in anger. Cade chimed in quietly, "Exactly. I just reminded Mr. Caldwell that we had the earlier appointment, and he arrogantly asked me who I thought I was." The two of them vented back and forth, while Darcy remained silent. "What's your take?" Zephyr looked at her. "Is there any point in our staying? Mr. Caldwell's attitude was pretty clear." "We're already here. Can't give up so easily. We have to try." She gave a faint smile. "I've dealt with clients worse than Mr. Caldwell before. Got through it. "Don't be fooled. These clients might act tough, but they know perfectly well who has the better tech, the real skills. When it counts, they'll make the choice that benefits them most."Zephyr nodded. "Alright. Then we wait." They waited for two hours. "Sorry, everyone, it's our closing time. Could you please—" The receptionist reminded them apologetically that it was time to leave. Cindy's temper flared. "Closing time? Mr. Caldwell hasn't even seen us yet, and you're kicking us out?" The receptionist was surprised. "He left a long time ago. Didn't you know?" Cindy's beautiful eyes widened. She rolled up her sleeves. "I've never been treated like this in my life! Ethan Caldwell, is it? You just wait!" "Cindy." Darcy quickly held her back, then said to the receptionist, "Sorry for keeping you. We'll leave right now. We'll turn off the lights in the meeting room before we go." After the receptionist left, Darcy took a deep breath, lowering her eyes gloomily. "Sorry. This was on me. I dragged everyone out here for nothing." If she hadn't mocked John, maybe things wouldn't have been so bad. At least Ethan might have agreed to see them once, hear their proposal. Not like this, where they didn't even get a chance to present. "Darcy, how is this your fault? If anyone's to blame, it's that scumbag John. Anyone hearing that would want to hit him. You showing restraint was impressive enough." Zephyr also nodded. "And Mr. Caldwell isn't a fair judge either, believing gossip so easily. Partnership is a two-way evaluation. Voyager hasn't passed our evaluation either, so we don't need to waste more time on them." Even so, Darcy still felt guilty and wanted to try again. Over the next few days, she took the proposal and went to Voyager alone to try to meet Ethan. But after many attempts, his secretary always said he had no time. Darcy felt disheartened. Just as she was leaving the Voyager building yet again, her phone suddenly received a text message."Do not partner with Voyager. It'll soon undergo bankruptcy liquidation. All contracts will be voided." Darcy was shocked. Voyager going bankrupt soon? How is that possible? Voyager is an industry leader! If a client like that collapsed, it would affect the entire supply chain! That meant if SummitCore really won the bid and signed a contract with Voyager, when Voyager liquidated, they wouldn't be able to pay. SummitCore's sunk costs would be enormous! Just thinking about it gave Darcy a cold sweat. But— Is this real? And who sent me this anonymous message? She immediately dialed the number, but a recorded voice said it was disconnected. Darcy gripped her phone tightly and found a café to sit down. After calming down a bit, she looked at her phone again. This text was just too strange. The number was disconnected. Any messages she sent back went unanswered. "Do not partner with Voyager." Who would be so kind-hearted as to warn her proactively? And why anonymously? Was the sender's identity something to hide? Someone inside Voyager? Darcy thought it through carefully. No, she didn't know anyone there. If she did, she wouldn't have been blocked from even getting a meeting with Ethan. Very strange. But if the information was true, Stratagem Tech had actually dodged a bullet. With that in mind, her obsession with Voyager lessened considerably. Darcy took a sip of coffee, looking out the window at the passing pedestrians. Could the one who sent that anonymous warning be one of them? Meanwhile, Cindy, having been stood up by Ethan that day, drove home fuming. That evening, she complained to her brother. She told Jethro exactly how John and Zora had given Darcy a hard time, and how Ethan had been blind and unfair. Jethro's deep eyes turned cold. "I see. Leave this to me." Cindy's eyes lit up. "You found a lawyer?" "Already in contact. But she's very busy, on a business trip out of town recently. When she returns, I'll discuss it with her personally." "Hell yeah! Make that loser broke, and make everyone see what a scumbag he is. And if the Moss Group gets dragged into a PR disaster and crashes and burns? Even better!"
