Everything Stolen, I Left to Become CEO
Cindy rolled her eyes. "There are lots of things you don't know about me." Zephyr gave her a deep, inscrutable look. The group walked towards Voyager's meeting room. Cindy, walking at the back, secretly sent a message to her brother. "Jethro, your chance to shine has arrived." Jethro replied, "?" Cindy sent, "Darcy wants to demand child support from her scumbag dad. Find a good lawyer to help her quietly, and remember to keep it on the down-low." Jethro frowned. Seems they ran into SummitCore again today. A cold gleam flashed in his eyes. "Alright. Leave it to me." The two groups arrived at the reception desk. After completing visitor registration, they were shown to a meeting room by their Voyager contact to wait. In the spacious meeting room, the SummitCore and Stratagem teams sat on opposite sides of a long table. Darcy didn't want any interaction with Zora and her group. So, she used the waiting time to quietly instruct her team to double-check their pre-sales materials and system demo, ensuring nothing was missed. She was always careful like that. Across the table, Zora, seeing the Stratagem team busily preparing, couldn't help but let a smile curl her lips. She tapped her long fingers on the table and raised an eyebrow at Darcy. "Darcy, take a guess—will the head of Voyager's tech department see your team first, or ours?" Darcy frowned. When they had registered at the front desk, everyone present had seen that Stratagem's appointment with Voyager was for 4 PM, while SummitCore's was for 5 PM. By that schedule, the head, Ethan Caldwell, should see Stratagem first. But if the answer were that simple, why would Zora even ask? Clearly, Zora was very confident that Ethan would see SummitCore first. Darcy's gaze shifted to John. So, this old scumbag isn't just here to annoy me. Sure enough, the smile on Zora's lips grew even more pronounced. "Gotta thank John for this. I only found out yesterday that he and Mr. Caldwell were actually university classmates. "Originally, Mr. Caldwell had no availability to see us this week. But after John spoke with him, Mr. Caldwell was kind enough to move SummitCore's pre-sales presentation up to today." Zora gave a sweet smile. "Thank you so much, John." John waved a hand. "No need for thanks, Zora. Don't be so formal. Even though I'm not your biological father, I've watched you grow up. In my heart, you're no different from my own daughter. Helping you is the least I can do." At this point, he snorted and shot an unhappy glance at Darcy, "No, actually, you're even more well-behaved and sensible than my biological daughter." Zora lowered her eyes with a slight smile. "In my heart, it's the same. I lost my own father when I was very young. In my eyes, you're like my real father." Watching these two perform their heartwarming father-daughter act in the meeting room as if no one else was there, Cindy felt like she might throw up. Under the table, Zephyr's large, warm hand closed over her fingers. "If you feel sick, I'll take you to the restroom. Frankly, I'm feeling sick too." At that, Zora and John's expressions changed abruptly, but they couldn't blow up. After all, Zephyr hadn't named names. If they jumped up in protest, they'd just be proving his point. The most surprised one was Cindy.Whoa. Zephyr, Mr. Integrity himself, publicly took shots and subtly called people disgusting. Is this moral collapse or a twisted soul? Or... Cindy swallowed and stole a glance at him. Could it be... he's actually doing this for me? Nah, impossible. He'd never be that considerate towards me. "What, not going?" Lost in thought, Cindy realized Zephyr had already stood up and was looking down at her. Cindy was dumbfounded. Oh, he's serious? I thought he was just making a point. "Let's go." Zephyr's large hand enveloped her fingertips, pulling her up and leading her out. Cindy stammered, "But, what if Mr. Caldwell comes—" "Don't worry. We can handle it here. I can deal with him." Darcy gave her a reassuring smile, telling her to go ahead.A flash of anger ignited in Zora's eyes. She suppressed her emotions with effort, forcing out a smile as she looked at Darcy. "Darcy, you're not upset that John is only helping me and not you, are you? I mean, sure, you're his biological daughter, but you..." She bit her lip, leaving the sentence hanging. "If you'd stop snapping at him all the time, I think he'd dote on you too. After all, he is your biological father." "Zora..." John sighed. "You're such a good kid, thinking of me so much." Truth was, John felt a bit guilty towards Zora. Before, he had thought Zora was too distant with him, which made him fear the Moss family wouldn't support him in his old age. That's why he had considered reconnecting with his biological daughter. But it turned out to be the opposite. Lately, Zora had been visibly warmer towards him, her stepfather. And along with that, Susan had been treating him better and better too. As for Darcy and her mother? They had been nothing but vicious towards him.
