Everything Stolen, I Left to Become CEO

Chapter 198 A Simple Gift

She tucked her hair behind her ear and smiled at the siblings. "Alright, it's getting late. Let's head back." Her car was still at the repair shop. Darcy pulled out her phone to call a ride, but Jethro was quicker. "I'll take you." Darcy paused. "No, it's fine. It's out of your way." The little matchmaker sprang into action. Cindy pushed her toward the Rolls-Royce's passenger seat. "It's no trouble at all! Some people like going out of their way." Darcy's cheeks flushed, thankfully hidden by the dark interior. She tried to ignore Cindy's obvious hints and teasing, focusing on buckling her seatbelt. After they left, Paradise Club welcomed a familiar VIP. Rocco himself knocked on the private room door. "Dr. Moss! So glad you're here. We have a new batch of guys. Want to take a look?"Zora smiled, her red lips curving. "Sure. Bring them all in." Then she added, "You know my rules, right?" Rocco nodded obsequiously. "Of course. Privacy's top-notch. You can rest easy." Leaving the room, Rocco found a quiet spot and made a call. "Hey, Lucian. She's here again." After listening to the other side, Rocco murmured, "Got it. I'll make sure it's clean. She won't suspect a thing." As the other side was about to hang up, Rocco quickly added, "Something else happened tonight." He recounted the incident with Jethro defending a girl and beating up a gigolo. Rocco sounded worried. "You think Jethro will come after us?" Places like this weren't exactly squeaky clean. They operated in grey areas. They couldn't withstand a serious investigation. If they got reported, they'd be shut down for sure... Rocco wasn't worried for himself. He just hated the thought of Lucian's years of planning and effort going to waste. There was a long silence on the other end. Then, a calm voice replied, "He won't. Even if there's trouble, I'm here." Relieved, Rocco was about to end the call when the other side suddenly asked, "The girl he saved—his girlfriend?" Rocco scratched his head. "Not yet, I don't think. "But he definitely likes her. And the girl definitely likes him too. She put on his jacket and hid behind him. That's a sure sign... Hello? You there?" Rocco was annoyed. Why'd he hang up without hearing me out? So rude! ... The car soon stopped outside Darcy's apartment building. As she reached for the door handle, Jethro handed her a gift box. "For you." The familiar Hermès logo made her tense. Way too pricey. Her fingers trembled slightly. "Thank you, but it's too much. I can't accept it." Jethro smiled, "It's not expensive." He opened the box himself. Inside was a beautiful bag charm. Darcy's eyes lit up. So cute. Jethro handed it to her. "It'll match the one on your bag. Pairs are good luck." Darcy's heart fluttered. He's so busy every day, yet he noticed the charm on my bag? She genuinely loved it. And she knew a charm wasn't prohibitively expensive. She could return the gesture on his birthday. "Thank you, boss."Jethro chuckled, "Forgot our agreement again? Outside of work, it's just Jethro." "And one more thing." His tone turned serious. "I don't like you thanking me all the time. No need to be so formal with me." Darcy's heart skipped a beat. She tightened her grip on the charm. Of course she hadn't forgotten. But insisting on his title was her own private reminder. A reminder of the vast distance between their worlds. The Rolls-Royce didn't drive away until Darcy was safely inside. All of this was captured from the shadows by a hidden camera. At the Blackwood Manor, Clara was on the sofa, sipping coffee, when her phone buzzed with a series of messages. They were all photos of her son with a woman. The more Clara looked, the colder her heart felt. Especially the last one, taken inside a car. Even in the dim light, she could see the brilliant smile on her son's face. This woman really has some tricks up her sleeve! Clara was so angry that she lost her appetite. Just then, Cindy came downstairs after her shower and immediately noticed her mother's mood. "Mom, what's wrong?" Clara was about to ask if Cindy knew about her brother's close relationship with this woman, but remembering how close the siblings were, she decided against it. Asking directly might alert them. She forced a smile. "Nothing's wrong." She patted the sofa beside her. Cindy obediently sat down and picked up a glass of water. Without any preamble, Clara asked, "Cindy, what do you think of Zephyr?""Cough!" Cindy, who had just taken a sip, choked, her face turning red. "Mom, why are you bringing him up all of a sudden?" "What's the big deal? I remember when you were a kid, you were obsessed with him—always trailing behind him, going 'Zephyr this, Zephyr that.' So why the cold shoulder now? Come to think of it, you stopped hanging out with him right after your eighteenth birthday party."
