The Second Love
After reaching the ground floor, I bid farewell to Dominic Hartnell and we went our separate ways. The parcel locker was conveniently close, and it was just an EMS package, not heavy enough to require someone to accompany me to pick it up. I strolled to the location of the parcel locker and swiftly retrieved the package. Then, I took a slight detour around the block before leisurely returning home. Upon arriving home, I eagerly tore open the package. Inside, there was only one large red envelope, exuding a festive aura. I wondered why someone would send me an EMS package. But when I saw what was inside, it suddenly dawned on me. This was most likely a wedding invitation sent by Royce Horton.I thought he was just joking, but I didn't expect him to actually send it to me, and so promptly as well. With a curious mindset, I opened the envelope. But when I took out the proper wedding invitation and examined it, I was greatly surprised. In the space where the bride's name should have been written, it actually said Camille Madison. I was momentarily stunned before regaining my composure. Could this be a coincidence? Royce Horton shouldn't know Camille Madison, right? How did they end up getting married? It couldn't be... I stared at the wedding invitation in confusion, muttering to myself for a while, and then couldn't help but burst into laughter. It must be a coincidence. Camille Madison is not an uncommon name, and her surname is very common. It's really easy to have a coincidence like this. I examined the wedding invitation repeatedly, laughing, and then placed it back in the envelope and set it aside. But even though I said that, who knows how many times I glanced at the envelope with "Camille Madison" written on it during the morning. I couldn't even count. It just felt a little strange, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. It wasn't until half past eleven that Dominic Hartnell returned. Then, he changed his clothes and began preparing risotto for lunch. While he was making risotto, I stayed in the kitchen with him, casually chatting. Naturally, I inquired about those three. In our large family, even though I am the eldest, the relationships among us third-generation children are quite good. The difference is that those three are the type who are spoiled and pampered by their parents, not allowed to do anything. I'm concerned about how they will adapt to a place with rules, systems, and constraints. Although Dominic Hartnell can look after them, I'm still worried because they are still students and there is a significant difference between working in a company and studying in school. And strictly speaking, Dominic Hartnell's relationship with them is also a double-edged sword. I'm afraid they will carry this banner and cause trouble. But what surprised me was that Dominic Hartnell's evaluation of them was quite positive. He said that they neither gossip nor slack off, at least in the morning, their performance was still commendable.Being their own younger siblings, hearing Dominic Hartnell praise them, I inexplicably felt a sense of pride and was quite happy. Because only the two of us were having risotto for lunch, I made a simple one, with two dishes and a soup. Dominic Hartnell's cooking skills are improving. I think if one day he doesn't want to run a company anymore, he can totally become a chef. I'm sure he would excel at it. The weather was hot, and with a full stomach and Dominic Hartnell as a human pillow, I naturally felt lazy and a bit drowsy. But it's not good to sleep right after eating risotto, so I chatted absentmindedly with Dominic Hartnell. After chatting for a while, he suddenly asked about the package I received in the morning and what it was. As soon as he asked, the name "Camille Madison" instantly popped into my mind, and I immediately stopped feeling sleepy.I sat up straight and told him to retrieve the wedding invitation from the small drawer. After he handed it to me, I couldn't wait to take out the invitation and show it to him. Pointing at the bride's name, I said to him, "Look, this bride's name is also Camille Madison. It must be a coincidence, right?" "Didn't you say she was seriously ill and undergoing treatment abroad? Is she still undergoing treatment? Is she cured?" Now that I had someone to share with, I couldn't stop talking. I bombarded him with questions like a machine gun. When Dominic Hartnell saw the name on the wedding invitation, his face darkened and his brows furrowed. He examined the invitation for a while before asking me, "How do you know this Royce Horton? Does he know Camille Madison?" I felt a little uneasy when he asked about Royce Horton, so I laughed and replied, "I only know him casually. I'm not really close with him. If I hadn't coincidentally bumped into him that day, I would have almost forgotten about him." "Forget about him, what about Camille Madison? Is she still in Anglandur?" When Dominic Hartnell didn't immediately respond, I continued muttering, "I don't think it's her. There are over a billion people in this world, and there are too many people with the same name and surname." "There could easily be millions of people with my name." After I finished speaking, Dominic Hartnell's expression remained serious, with a hint of confusion. He furrowed his brow and remained silent for a while, then put the wedding invitation back into the envelope and said to me, "Don't bother going to this wedding. Just send a red envelope as a gift." "Whether it's a namesake or not... it doesn't matter to me. I don't care about her." I chuckled as I listened, realizing that Dominic Hartnell had unknowingly teased me again. Indeed, whether it's the same "Camille Madison" or not, it doesn't really matter. If she's not the one, then she's just a stranger, and I happily send her my wishes for a blissful and happy marriage. If she is... well, it still doesn't matter. Everyone has the right to get married, as long as they're happy. I can also take it lightly and say "congratulations" to her. As for the wedding, I hadn't planned on going anyway, mainly because the wedding is on October 12th, and my due date is on October 20th. It's too close. If I were to attend the wedding and suddenly go into labor, it would truly be a chaotic mess. After that, I didn't think about this matter anymore. It was just a small episode. I took a nice nap and woke up in the afternoon when the sun was weaker. I dragged Dominic Hartnell to the supermarket. Just as we arrived home after buying groceries from the supermarket, Lou and the others came back from work. Maybe because it was their inaugural day at the company, all three of them were filled with excitement, particularly Lou and Mohan. Their chatter seemed incessant, creating quite a stir. Right when I was about to enthusiastically join in, Yurou approached me and discreetly led me away.
