The Second Love

Chapter 330 My Wife Has The Freedom To Choose

It has been a whole morning, and I am quite worried. I don't know if Shannon is feeling any better. I hope she didn't ignore my calls. Luckily, after waiting for a while, Shannon finally answered the phone. I felt relieved when she told me that she didn't wander around outside and had already returned to her rented house. However, our conversation was short before Shannon said she was tired and wanted to hang up. I could only sigh softly. Shannon has been busy since early this morning. She must be exhausted, not just physically, but emotionally as well. I reminded her to rest well and not to overthink things before ending the call. I'll give her a few days to feel better before I go see her. After finishing the call with Shannon, I got up from the bed. After changing my clothes, just as I was about to open the door, Dominic Hartnell pushed it open and walked in. Behind him was Chen Ma, carrying a tray filled with plates. I wasn't too happy to see him, so I didn't say anything and just stepped aside. Chen Ma didn't notice anything unusual between us. She greeted me with a peaceful smile and then walked towards the coffee table with the tray. Chen Ma placed the tray on the coffee table and started arranging the dishes and risotto on it. After everything was arranged, Chen Ma started talking with a smile. "Madam, Young Master asked me to prepare some food for you." "All of these were personally cooked by Young Master. They all look delicious to me." "Madam, Young Master really cares about you. Oh, I'm talking too much now that I'm getting old. You two go ahead and eat. After you finish, remember to call me to clean up." After saying these words, Chen Ma left the bedroom with a pleasant smile and thoughtfully closed the door behind her. "Wife, are you hungry? Let's eat the risotto." Dominic Hartnell showed his bright white teeth and sat down next to me on the sofa with a hospitable smile. He picked up a bowl, took a fork, and fed a piece of sweet and sour short rib to my mouth. I gave him a disdainful look and reached over to take the cutlery myself. "I can eat risotto on my own. I don't need you to feed me." Dominic Hartnell wasn't offended and continued to show his good temper as he picked up another clean set of cutlery placed nearby. He picked up a piece of fragrant, snow-white fish, meticulously and patiently removing the bones. I bit into the short rib, desperately holding back my laughter. He's pretending so well. It's obvious that this fish is a mandarin fish, and there are hardly any bones to pick. What's the point of pretending? With such a serious expression, people who don't know would think he's doing something particularly important. Perhaps feeling that he had acted enough, Dominic Hartnell finally picked up the fish and put it in my bowl. "Wife, eat the fish. It's your favorite steamed mandarin fish. I've removed all the bones, so you can eat without worry." I coolly replied, "There weren't many bones to begin with." Dominic Hartnell shook his head lightly, sighed, and smiled bitterly. "Wife, haven't I explained it to you already? Why are you still angry with me?" I gave him a sideways glance, put down my bowl, and asked angrily, "Why? Can't I be angry?" Seeing that I was getting angry, Dominic Hartnell quickly got up and sat next to me, nodding and coaxing me like garlic. "Of course, wife can do whatever she wants." "But getting angry is bad for your health. It hurts my heart." "If you're still really angry, why don't you just slap me a few times?" As he spoke, Dominic Hartnell actually grabbed my hand and tried to hit his own face. I quickly dodged to the side and muttered, "Who wants to slap you? I don't want my hand to hurt." But Dominic Hartnell instantly grinned and kissed my cheek."I knew my wife wouldn't be able to bring herself to hit me." Seeing his radiant smile, I wiped my face a couple of times in disgust. "Every time I think about you helping Benjamin Chance deceive me, I feel unhappy." "Fortunately, I just called Shannon and she's fine. Otherwise, we wouldn't be done." "I said you're not allowed to take Benjamin Chance's side, but you ended up being the main supporter. Just thinking about it makes me angry." Dominic Hartnell hugged me and immediately said, "This is a one-time thing, not to be repeated. I will definitely support my wife." I looked at him, uncertain, and asked, "Really? Will you follow through with your words?" "Really! Wife, please don't be angry anymore. Gilbert Hartnell kids, help Daddy and tell Mommy not to be angry."I didn't expect Dominic Hartnell to suddenly act so childish and cajole my belly. I chuckled and said, "Get out of here. The babies won't help you." Little did I know that as soon as I finished speaking, these two little rascals actually started moving, kicking my belly with great force, as if responding to what Dominic Hartnell had just said. Dominic Hartnell, who was still leaning against my belly, naturally felt it right away. He looked delighted, like a child, and raised his eyebrows at me with a smile, saying, "Look, just look, they really are my own son and daughter." "Gilbert Hartnell, when you come out, Daddy will take good care of you!" I chuckled and lightly touched my belly, teasingly saying with a hint of sourness, "Two little traitors." Upon hearing this, Dominic Hartnell sat up straight again and hugged me, saying, "Darling, you're not angry anymore, right?"I leaned against him, holding my belly, and truthfully, I wasn't really angry anymore. But I still spoke harshly, saying, "Let's leave it at that for now. If it happens again, even with the babies helping you, I won't be so easy to talk to." Dominic Hartnell lifted my chin and smiled. "Thank you, my dear wife." I couldn't help but laugh again. "Wife, let's have some risotto. The fish will lose its tenderness if it gets cold." And so, with the almost imperceptible strong support from the two little ones, Dominic Hartnell and I made up as if nothing had happened. We didn't go out in the afternoon and stayed at home all day. After dinner, surprisingly, Dominic Hartnell's mother didn't immediately go upstairs as usual. Instead, she sat with us in the living room and watched TV.I found it quite strange. We had been living in the villa for so long, and this was the first time I had seen her watching TV. There was also a television in Dominic Hartnell's mother's bedroom, although I was unsure if she used it. After observing for a while, Chen Ma brought a delicate porcelain bowl. Quietly, I calculated that there would be sufficient medicine for one more day, and then we would need to schedule a follow-up appointment. Hmm, I must make a mental note to remind his mother tomorrow. As Dominic Hartnell's mother took her medication, I discreetly observed Dominic Hartnell's demeanor. His eyebrows were furrowed tightly, suggesting a hint of discontent.
