The Second Love

Chapter 259 Making A Scene!

After Shannon arrives, I will pretend to go shopping with her. Once I have dealt with Dominic Hartnell, I will send Shannon away and then return to the hotel to meet my parents. Hmm... that's the plan. As for what happens after we meet, we'll just have to take it step by step. I'm actually a bit afraid to think about how my parents will react when they find out about all this. I can only hope... for the best. I clenched my hands tightly and calmed my slightly frightened heart. Once Dominic Hartnell and Calvin Merchant finish their conversation, I happily spoke up, "Shannon said she'll be here in twenty minutes, so you don't have to accompany me anymore. You should go to the meeting with Calvin Merchant. I'll wait for Shannon at the entrance." "It's alright. I'll wait for Shannon Harper to arrive before going to the meeting. I'll have Calvin Merchant accompany you. After all, you're not in a convenient situation right now, and he can help you carry things." Dominic Hartnell seemed to completely believe what I said now, but I politely declined his offer for Calvin Merchant to accompany me. I'm still planning to sneak back, and with Calvin Merchant tagging along, I won't be able to do much. I'll probably just have to obediently go home. "No need, I still have Shannon with me. Besides... we need to buy some... personal items, you know what I mean. It's not suitable for Calvin Merchant to come along." "Don't worry, I'll be very careful. These two little Gilbert Hartnells are not just your responsibility, I'm also concerned about them." I think these words are quite convincing, but considering that I'm trying to persuade Mr. Han, the outcome might not be so easy to predict. But regardless, I can't let Calvin Merchant follow me. If I can't convince him, I'll come up with something else.Actually, I'm really prepared to properly persuade Dominic Hartnell, but to my surprise, Mr. Han only hesitated for a moment before agreeing. Hmm, everything seems to be going smoothly. It wasn't even twenty minutes yet when Shannon called again. She had already arrived. I was a bit excited and nervous because Dominic Hartnell was going to see me off, and I was afraid something would go wrong at the last moment. But I trust that Shannon won't be that unreliable. When I arrived at the hotel lobby, I saw Shannon sitting on the sofa, waiting. If it weren't for her hand being held by Dominic Hartnell, I might have uncontrollably rushed over with great force. "Shannon." I waved my hand and greeted her loudly. Seeing Shannon look over, I didn't care whether she could see clearly or receive my telepathic hints, I just winked at her. "Why can't you come out by yourself? Why are you with him? Don't you know I don't like him?" Shannon didn't say anything, she just teased Dominic Hartnell a little, and I could only awkwardly chuckle. "We just happened to run into each other. He has a meeting here today. Let's go, let's go shopping! Oh, Dominic Hartnell, we're leaving. Have a good meeting and work well. Bye." I withdrew my hand from Dominic Hartnell's and immediately linked arms with Shannon, eagerly pulling her out of the hotel. As we left the hotel, I kept looking back while walking quickly, afraid that Dominic Hartnell would suddenly chase after us. "Slow down, can you, Miss? You're pregnant now, you know? Also, tell me honestly, what's going on today? When did we make plans to go shopping?"Shannon grabbed me and forced me to slow down, adopting a determined stance. I was starting to feel a bit out of breath, it was really tiring to walk fast with a protruding belly. "Hey, let's just take a stroll over there, and then you can go back. I'll go back to the hotel by myself later, you..." Shannon interrupted me with a raised hand, "Wait a minute... Am I hearing correctly? You're going back to the hotel later? Why did you bother me so early in the morning and disturb my sweet dreams for this?" "Are you trying to avoid Dominic Hartnell? What did he do?" I couldn't walk anymore, so I sat down with Shannon on a wooden bench by the roadside. "Oh, it's not about avoiding Dominic Hartnell. I just didn't expect to run into him like this. My parents are back, staying at the Shihao Hotel, and I want to go see them." Shannon asked with a puzzled expression, "You're going to see your uncle and aunt, why do you have to be so secretive? Don't want Dominic Hartnell to know?" "No, I..." I was about to explain, but before I could, Shannon interrupted me with a shocked expression, "Ah! Liliana Zanetti! Are you out of your mind? Are you planning on not telling your parents that the child's father is Dominic Hartnell?" "What a mess! How could I possibly hide something like this? Besides, I want my child to be born legally and have a real father. I just want to meet them first, explain everything, and then maybe the damage will be minimized if I bring Dominic Hartnell along." "For now, let's leave it at that. I'll explain everything else later. You go back, I still have to go back to the hotel." Shannon seemed a bit confused, but I didn't have time to explain further. It was almost ten o'clock, and if I didn't go find my parents soon, they might call me any minute. Shannon asked if she should accompany me, but I didn't think it was necessary. Besides, I wanted to have a private conversation with my parents. Luckily, we hadn't gone too far, so it didn't take us much time to return to the hotel. When we got back, Dominic Hartnell was indeed nowhere to be seen. I entered the elevator with relief and went straight to the floor where my parents were staying. Standing outside their door, I gently patted my stomach before knocking. My mom opened the door, initially happy to see me, but her expression froze when her gaze fell upon my belly. I could only remind her anxiously, "Mom, let's go inside first. I'll tell you and dad everything you want to know." After a brief silence, my mom asked in a low voice, "Is it... Han's?" I pursed my lips and nodded. "Lili, are you really... You should explain it to your dad yourself later." Once inside, I saw my dad sitting on a chair by the window, reading a newspaper. He didn't notice anything unusual about my body at first, but he did notice something was off between me and my mom. "You two haven't seen each other for so long, why do I feel like you're not happy at all?" My mom sat down on the sofa and simply said, "Let Lili explain." I took a deep breath and composed myself before addressing my dad. "Dad, I need to tell you something. I am currently five months pregnant, and not only that, but I am expecting twins..." My dad's face immediately froze, and it took him a moment to collect himself. He abruptly struck the coffee table, causing a water glass to topple over. "That's absurd!"
