The Second Love

Chapter 210 She Wants To See You

Life is short; I just want to live happily. That's why I don't understand Camille. Other than Dominic, there are still millions of other men out there. Why does she have to make herself suffer like this? Seeing Camille being unconscious and lifted onto the ambulance, I felt sorry for her. “What are you looking at? She's crazy. Do you want to go see her? Dominic is already heading to the hospital. If you're not feeling well, you might as well get a checkup in the hospital,” Shannon suggested as she pulled my hand. “I'm not going. I don't want to upset anyone with my presence. Also, I'm as healthy as a horse. I don't need a checkup. But I think I'm not going to go see Nicholas today. Let's meet up some other day. Help me explain it to Nicholas. I'm heading off now.” Shannon did not release her grip. “If you say so. Are you really feeling okay? I can keep you company. There's still some leftover pizza from last night. I'll go home and eat with you.” Hearing that, I chuckled and said, “Keep me company? I think you simply want to eat.” “It doesn't matter. Let's go and buy some more food.” Shannon laughed as she pulled me toward the opposite direction the ambulance was heading off to. I turned to glance at the ambulance again. Sigh... I hope everyone will be fine. After pondering about it, I was relieved that I had rescued Camille that day. Otherwise, I would be living in regret for the rest of my life. Even though I hate her, I don't want her to die because of me. It would only make me feel bad. While I was pushing the shopping cart, Shannon chose some fruits. My mind was in a chaotic state, thinking about what had happened that day. Three hours ago, Shannon and I were about to leave my house. Although we were going to see Nicholas, we woke up late. It was almost noon by then. After a short discussion, we decided to go out for lunch. We would then buy some fruits for Nicholas afterward. Since we were visiting a patient, it would be rude to go empty-handed. Also, I wanted to see Monica as well. Shannon and I decided to go to eat at an ordinary restaurant. Just when we took our seats, my phone rang. The screen was displaying an unknown number. With nary a hint of hesitation, I rejected the call. However, a couple of seconds later, the unknown number called again. Once again, I cut the line. I did not expect the phone to ring for the third time. Shannon stopped looking at the menu. She lifted her head and asked, “Why aren't you answering the call? Who is it? Dominic?” “No, but it's ringing for the third time now. I'd better answer it.”I answered the call as I spoke. When I heard Camille's voice on the other end, I regretted my decision. I really shouldn't answer unknown calls. “Liliana, I want to see you. Right now. If you don't show up, I'll jump off from the rooftop of Gloria Building!” Upon hearing that, my heart started racing. What now? Is she going to end her life? I was shocked, but I assumed that Camille would never do something like that. Hence, I reprimanded, “Stop messing with me! Why should I see you? You must be insane!” Right after that, I hung up the phone. “What's wrong? Who was that?” Shannon asked curiously. I put my phone aside and told Shannon about what Camille had just said on the phone. Shannon chuckled at that. She believed that Camille was joking as well. There were only a few customers in the restaurant, so our food was served quickly. We liked the taste of the food there. However, before I finished eating, my phone rang again. Shannon quickly grabbed the phone and answered it. “I'll scold her for you. She's bullying you because you're such a pushover, but I am not!” I chuckled at that. Who's a pushover? I did not stop Shannon as I hoped that she could stop Camille from disturbing me. I watched Shannon scold Camille over the phone, but she fell silent after a while. Her expression changed drastically. What's wrong? Has she lost the argument? That is not possible, though. After Shannon ended the call with a strange look on her face, I asked her what had happened. She pulled my hand and said, “Let's go. Stop eating. Quick!” “What's going on?” We left the restaurant in a rush. While she was dragging me along the sidewalk hastily, Shannon explained, “Something bad happened! Camille is going to end her life! She's really not joking.” I was stunned upon hearing that. It doesn't make sense. Why is she taking her own life? Has she lost her mind? As we got into the taxi, I was still in disbelief. “Shannon, don't joke around with me.” Shannon shot me a glare before she turned to look at the taxi driver. In a low voice, she said beside my ear, “Are you crazy? Why would I joke about this? It was the police who called you. Camille wants to see you now. If you don't go, she'll jump off the building. Liliana, this is serious. We're going to stop her. However, if she doesn't listen to you, just stay out of the way. Don't put yourself at risk.” I was speechless. Is Camille being serious? But, why does she want to see me? The thought made me shiver. When we arrived at Gloria Building, a crowd had gathered there to watch the show. Shannon and I lifted our heads to locate Camille, but we could only see a tiny black figure. We were uncertain if that was her. After talking to the police, someone came and led us to the back. In the elevator, I was getting nervous. My palms were sweaty. What should I do when I see her? I've never dealt with this kind of situation before.
