The Second Love
In a rage, I wanted to give him a piece of my mind. I got even more infuriated when the woman beside Dominic smiled gloatingly at me. That woman was still clinging onto Dominic's body as if she had a problem standing. Then, the seductive woman whined, seemingly trying to make matters worse, “Mr. Hartnell... Are you making her leave just like that? She scolded me just now. She has to at least apologize to me.” At that moment, I had the urge to tear the woman into pieces. Can't she speak properly? Absolutely disgusting. I'm already leaving, but she still wants an apology. I thought people always said that things would be smoothly settled after one took a step back? That's clearly not true. She's such an arrogant woman. Regardless, it looks like I have no other choice now. If Dominic supports her, I'll be the one losing out. Moreover, I can't just bite a dog back after it bit me. I shouldn't haggle over things with a dog. However, what happened next surprised me. Dominic pushed the woman beside him away and ordered coldly, “I'm telling you to scram. Calvin, get everyone out of here!” The woman was dumbstruck upon hearing that. She stared at Dominic in disbelief. Nonetheless, Calvin did not give her a chance to make a scene, and he instantly dragged her out of the room. The other women who were watching the drama unfold quickly left after her. I felt relieved after Dominic chased all the women away. Although I was not involved with him anymore, I was disappointed at seeing him messing around with a group of women. I think I wouldn't care about it after a while. I just need some time. After everyone left, I planned to leave as well. After all, I was exhausted after a long night. At that moment, I was feeling a little dizzy, probably because of all the beer I had drunk that day. However, it seemed like Dominic had no plans to let me leave. He pulled my arm and kicked the door close forcefully. As the sound of the door slamming shut rang out, only Dominic and I were left in the room. Inexplicably, I was feeling scared to be alone with him, but I did not want to show that. I tried my best to calm myself and questioned, “What are you doing? Let go. I'm going home.” Dominic ignored me and grabbed my chin. His eyes appeared dark when he looked straight into mine. “Going home? Where? My place?” I was somewhat annoyed. Has he lost his mind? Am I homeless or something? Why should I go to his place? I pushed his hand away and replied, “It's none of your business. I'm certainly not going to your place if that's what you want to know.”Averting my eyes away from him, I wanted to leave quickly. Dominic did not intend to let me go. He stood in front of the door. His tall figure blocked my way and did not budge. This is getting tiring. What's wrong with him? I tried to compose myself while asking, “Just tell me whatever you wanted to say. I need to go after this.” I could not tell how Dominic was feeling, but it seemed like he was unhappy. Is it because of what I just said? But, I was stating the truth. It's already midnight, and I really need to go home to sleep. Dominic was still staring at me without saying a word. That made me even more furious. Why is he still blocking my way? He doesn't even want to talk. What does he want? Is he trying to make me guess? I can't read minds! Feeling exhausted, I lost my patience. “If you're not going to say anything, will you please get out of the way at the very least?”Dominic still did not respond as he stared at me blankly. I am going to lose it if he keeps staring at my face. Is my face that interesting? In a fury, I stepped forward and kicked his leg heavily. “Dominic Hartnell, move out of the way!” I planned to throw a plate of fruits at his face if he continued to be unresponsive. Fortunately, he responded, but he still did not move out of the way. “I have canceled the engagement. I'm not getting engaged with Camille.” “Okay.” Clearly, everyone already knew that from the news. “On the first of this month, I wanted to visit you at your house, but my mom phoned me and told me she wasn't feeling well. So, I got back home urgently. At home, I found out that my dad had returned home. That was when my mom told me that they were announcing my engagement with Camille on the third. After that, she locked me in my room. I wanted to explain everything to you, but I didn't expect them to bring you to that place.” I was stunned. Is that the truth? Is that what really happened? Regardless, I was not feeling happy at all. After all, the truth could not change things that had already occurred. I finally knew that Dominic's mother had gone to such lengths to make Dominic marry Camille. “Liliana, I lied that I went overseas because I didn't want you to misunderstand everything. You can ask me whatever you want to know now.” I shook my head and replied, “There is nothing else I want to ask. I'm sorry that I misunderstood you.” Dominic's expression was filled with delight as he grabbed my arms and said, “Then, let's get back together. I'll explain everything to your parents. After that, we'll get married. Liliana, I won't let anything like this ever happen again.”Stunned by his words, I was almost going to agree to it. Wait... There are still so many problems between us. If we get back together now, what will happen in the future? Also, Grandpa just passed away. I can't pretend that I don't care about that. Dad and Mom certainly wouldn't agree to it too. After giving it some thought, I was certain that I was not meant to be with Dominic in the end. I plastered a faint smile on my face. “Dominic, we've already broken up twice. Just let me go.”
