The Second Love

Chapter 191 Quarrel

I ran over and saw Shannon getting into a conflict with someone. At that moment, a lot of people had gathered to watch. I rushed toward Shannon and grabbed her arms. Shannon was not the type that would create a fuss easily. Evidently, she probably got utterly offended. Even though I had no idea what happened, but without a doubt, I would be on her side. Not to mention, the other party looked utterly rude as she was cursing all sorts of bad words. Even I got utterly pissed upon hearing what she said. “Hey, please mind your words. Would you mind talking nicely if you want to argue? There's no need to act uncivilized.” Just then, the woman shifted all her wrath toward me. “And who the h*ll are you? Mind your own business! Did I curse your family? I cursed her mother because only a b*tch would give birth to such trash!” Shannon trembled incessantly as she was livid. “You can scold me, but stop cursing my mother. Or else I'll kill you!” The woman let out a fearless smile. “Come on then. Why can't I curse your mother? You should have expected this when you chose to be a homewrecker. You're a b*tch! And your mother's a b*tch too!” Shannon lost her calm as she swung away from my hand, charging toward that woman. Staring at Shannon's aggressive look, the woman got a little intimidated as she took a few steps backward. Nonetheless, her mouth was still unwilling to give in. “If you dare to touch me today, I'll make sure you spend your whole life in prison.” Seeing things were about to get escalated, I immediately chased Shannon up and grabbed her hand.“Shannon, it's not worthy to get mad with her.” By then, Dominic and the rest arrived at the scene too. “What's wrong? What happened?” I did not dare to let go of Shannon as I spoke to Dominic. “I don't know either. All I know is that woman is scolding Shannon and cursing terribly.” “Liliana, let go of me. It has nothing to do with you guys. Let me handle this myself!” I could not possibly listen to her as she was not being rational at all. “Of course, it has everything to do with us. We're friends. Dominic and the others are here now. No one will dare to bully you now.” Upon saying that, I turned to Dominic. “That woman even scolded me just now. Please avenge us.” Even though it might sound inhuman to ask a few men to go after a woman, but I would not mind it if it were that woman. With that, Dominic patted my shoulder gently. “Wait here.” I nodded right away as I knew that woman would not be able to get her way around Dominic. As such, I grabbed Shannon's hand and left the crowd with her. After walking for some distance, I halted my feet and started comforting her. “Shannon, don't get mad. They'll deal with her for us.” “Liliana...” Shannon was no longer as pissed as just now, but I could sense something wrong with her. I reached my arms and hugged her while patting her back slowly. “It's fine now. We've got your back.” Shannon hugged me back tightly without saying anything. I was left in awe the next moment as she started crying. I had never seen her crying ever since I knew her. She always looked so strong and could handle everything so well. If I were to mention one thing that she failed to handle, I supposed it would be Nicholas. After a long while, Shannon finally collected herself as she let go of me and stood straight. Her eyes were red with tears, but she looked fine now. By then, Dominic and the rest had come over as well. The crowd seemed to have left, and that woman had vanished too. When I was about to ask about what happened, Shannon opened her mouth before I could. “Thank you guys, for having my back. I'll treat you guys a meal some other day.” I was stunned momentarily by Shannon's abrupt change of attitude. “Shannon...” “Let's go back for the barbeque. I'm starving. It's Christmas Eve today, and we should celebrate.” Even though I got utterly confused by her behavior, she was evidently reluctant to mention what happened. Hence, I figured I should drop it for now, as I did not want to ruin her mood again. With that, I grabbed her arms and smiled. “Let's go. Barbeque it is.” Benjamin and the rest also showed utter support as we walked back together in high spirit. After getting back, Lou set up the barbecue rack and placed all the meat skewers on it. I ran over to him and patted his back gently. I initially wanted to caress his head, but I failed to reach it due to our height difference. “Not bad. They look tasty.” Lou seemed to be in a good mood as well. “Of course. It depends on who is grilling it. Making barbeque is a piece of cake for me.” I rolled my eyes at his prideful behavior. Shannon was also close with Lou as she had been to my house before. At the moment, she came over too and asked, “Lou, which of them is ready? Let me have a try, please.”Staring at Shannon, I was not sure if I should be happy or worried. With that, a few of us sat on the beach chairs, eating and chatting away. We even played the classic Truth or Dare. Happy moments always passed in the blink of an eye. As we needed to go out to the sea tomorrow morning, we did not stay up that late. I wanted to be with Shannon, but she insisted on giving Dominic and me some private time. Getting back to our place with Dominic, he started speaking before I could. He asked me to stop asking Shannon about her secret. Since the latter was unwilling to share it yet, he advised me to respect her. After pondering for a while, I thought he had a point. If Shannon decided to talk about it one day, I would be a good listener then. After I thought that through, I was not bothered anymore, but something else came into my mind.
