You Were Warned

Chapter 83 Camile, Master, Merna

*Camile* The bathing room was quiet as the female serfs got me ready for the auction. I was scrubbed clean. After that, my already-growing hair was shaved off. The lotion was placed on my body to give me a glow. I recalled being ripped from Puabi’s comforting arms by two hunters. From there I was placed with the rest of the Master’s property that was going to be sold. There was a mix of disbelief and sobbing. I could not move my feet properly as we were all being dragged to the main hall. There were so many that had shown up to the auction. Each head was turned in our direction observing their potential buy. In line, I stood there motionless. I used only my eyes to hunt down Puabi. Remembering what she had told me. “Walk to the stadium with confidence, even if you have none. Do not shed a tear! And most of all, know I am doing everything to keep you with me!" Those were Puabi’s last words to me. I saw Merna, in her green gown. She looked so radiant! For a split second rage filled me, ‘why does she get to bypass this fate, what makes her better than the rest of us?’ I sucked down every emotion that I was feeling, I could not shed a tear. I had promised that I would not break. I could not help that Merna was glaring at something, turning my head, “Puabi” I whispered. I was starting to feel envious of Merna, I wanted to be where she was. Safe! Protected! Confident! Everything I was not! *Master* My home was filled with potential buyers. In the beginning, I was only going to sell ten out of the stock that I had collected. In the end, I picked more than half of my collection on the auction block. If my siblings were going to be foolish enough to come after me. This would mean a possible war. I would need all the resources to go to the proper places. I selected the property that would give me a profit and placed the others as food. I was preparing for war. Making this selection was not only subject to those in the cells. Any serf mage or labour was subjected to being sold. Many times I watched Merna and Puabi glancing at each other. I could see the pity in Puabi’s eyes. I had warned her not to get attached to this human born. I cursed silently as I looked away and found my eyes landing on Merna. Determination, that was what I saw when I glanced at her. Inquiring, ‘What are you up to little hybrid?’ Merna directed her attention towards me, ‘you can not sell Camile!’Not again, ‘I will get what I want!’ ‘What do you want for Camile?’ Merna pleaded again. ‘I already told you my price … eat!’ Merna shook her head back and forth in defiance. ‘You do not have anything that I want!’ I gave Merna the glare that would tell her to drop the topic. Things were going well between us, why did she have to ruin things by arguing with me? I was not going to change my mind. I could tell that Merna was struggling with her feminine emotions. ‘Is it the fact that you do not want to feed Camile?’ ‘No!’ I needed the gold to ensure that my siblings would not get the upper hand. ‘Then what is it?’ There was pain in Merna’s words. ‘I have already told you, I need the gold! And I know you do not have the amount of gold that is needed!’ I pointed out a fact. ‘I know where I can get all the gold you need!’ She pleaded with me. I huffed out black mist from my nose. I was done with this argument! ‘ENOUGH!’ There was no way she could get the gold that was needed. I found my spot and directed Merna to sit beside me. For a moment I thought she was going to object, but to my surprise, Merna gracefully took her place beside me. “If you would just listen to me …” She whispered. I let out a low growl, “enough!” I said only loud enough for her to hear. *Merna* I was prepared for the response that Chaos had given me. After our event in his room, I have had nothing but horrible images popping into my mind. While I was in the Earth realm, these events would only happen while I was sleeping or during a meditation session. This realm has a major effect on my abilities. My skills are either enhanced or I am finding that I have hidden skills that are making themselves known. I glanced over at the human borns and other species that Chaos is selling today. Emma glared at me with such animosity. I could not blame her for her emotions, I had the displeasure of seeing her possible future. It was … apocalyptic! Emma’s buyer, regardless of what she does, is sinister by nature. Even knowing this information, it was Camile that I chose to save. If my plan did not work Camile would have been sold to a portentous family. Their only son was the one who was the issue. Even glaring at the little shit I could tell by his grin that he had a perverse manner, someone I would never befriend even if I needed someone to hide a dead body. I studied Camile, she was barely holding herself together. I could not give her any comforting words nor a hand to hold onto as she had to go through this ordeal. It was only Puabi and I that knew what my plans were. Of course, her first initial response was joy but then she thought of what Chaos would do once he found out what was happening. Puabi, of course, worried about the replication of such a coup. I told her that I would gladly take the brunt force of Chaos’s temper. I could not help but smile. ‘What makes you smile, little pet?’ Chaos shifted in his spot as he studied me. I cleared my throat and reconstructed my expression, ‘just a vision that popped into my mind!’ It may not have been a new vision per se, but it was a memory of our action that I could not keep from entering my mind … so I would call this more of a white lie. ‘Vision?’ Chaos turned his attention to me for a moment. ‘Yes! It is not reliable but from time to time, it has helped me get out of … sticky issues! Things that I am to avoid. Or gather more information so that I can better gauge around an event that can not be stopped.’ I paused for a second, ‘the visions are more frequent, I can not predict when they are going to happen.’ ‘Your getting stronger!’ I had a feeling this pleased him. I, on the other hand, was still adjusting to the changes. I paused my thought process as I watched two hunters drag a male onto the makeshift stage. ‘That male fae … on the stage! He is going to attempt to strangle his buyer the second they step out of your domain.’ Again my inner mind took over. I saw as the scenario played itself out. ‘Hmp! Not my problem once I get my gold!’ Chaos did not seem phased at all. My jaw dropped a bit as I took my attention from the stag to Chaos. He held no emotion, he did not care what the possible outcome was going to be. I should not be surprised by his temperament. It is of his nature to appear aloof and detached. Then again, if one was as old as he, this might be anyone's display to others. “SOLD for one hundred fifty-one thousand eight hundred and twenty-three gold to house Nammun.” The Mage yelled for everyone to hear. One after another individuals were being led or pulled to the stage. It came to Emma’s turn to be led to the stage. I would have thought that after watching the others before her she would go to the stage with grace. Emma did not, she fought like the others. I had to give her one thing, she had spirit. This spirit was going to be her downfall. Studying the family that I believed would buy her, I could see Emma’s possible fate. The Mage started to speak as everyone listened, “this female species is human born!”I heard a couple of gasps and saw a few wrinkle their noses. The hatred for human borns was evident. “Breeder … carrying bugbear offspring!” The mage said as he glared at the clipboard. I glanced at a few males who were laughing with ill intent. Collecting myself, I brought my mind back to Emma. She was paraded around the stage showing off her nude body to the crowd. “Bidding starts at twenty-five thousand gold!” For a while the three males that I had caught laughing were competing against each other. For a split second, I thought that what I had seen was not going to happen. “Eighty- seven thousand gold!” The room went silent. It was doubled what the bid had been at. For a human born, this would have been the highest bid. The Mage glanced around the location waiting for any other new bids, “going once … going twice … SOLD for eighty- seven thousand gold to the Themes family!”
