You Were Warned
Master So far Merna has had little trouble completing the tasks that I had given her. Now it was time to test her memory of the layout of my castle. I handed a pile of papers that Merna was to deliver to each respectable individual. Without question, Merna took the pile, headed out of the throne room and began her shift. Glancing at the first name Merna went to the left entrance. Walking in silence Merna led the way to the old part of my castle. “You know you do not need to follow me.” Merna Kept her head held high and her eyes focused ahead of her. Huffing, “I need to know you will not get lost in the labyrinth!” I replied to her whining. We came to the first corridor where eight hunters guarded the location. Turning left, down the hallway Merna entered the first room. Glancing around Merna was looking for the Master of Secrets. Here all records from the point of my succession to this terrain had been kept. Several mages roamed the location doing the task that had been handed to them. As many times before Merna ignored them and kept on walking. Passing three more rooms, Merna was able to find the Master of Secrets. Giving him the envelope, Merna did not wait for a reply and exited the location. Getting back to the corridor, shuffling around the paper, I could tell that she was making sure there were no letters needed to go to the Master of the kitchen serfs. Continuing forwards Merna led the way down the long hallway. Passing the stairs that would lead us outside, Merna went to the end and continued to walk further. The next individual Merna was looking for was the Grand Master Mage. Entering the Mages lounge, taking a few seconds to glance around to see if the individual she was hunting for was there, she continued. Knowing that the Mages domain was to the right, Merna turned to her left and weaved past everyone that was in her way. As predicted, the Grand Master Mage was working with the rest of the other high-level mages. Giving him the envelope, Merna again didn’t wait for a reply and left. Getting back to the hallway Merna continued strolling North until she reached the corridor that had eight guards plus guard dogs. This was the section I knew was not Merna’s favourite to be at. This domain housed all of those I was going to sell.Chained to the walls, pillars and the floor my property was held in three sections. One for the passive property the next for the aggressors the last was meant for the property that was filled with life. The corridor also had a hallway that would lead to my highest-ranking generals and assassins. Granting them their passageways into their domains. Merna strolled up to the guard who was holding the leash that was connected to Pierre’s old companion. “Hey Bronkes!” Merna said as she placed her palm side up for him to sniff her. Regardless of how much we tried to recorrect Bronkes, each time he saw Merna, he would revert to his old way. Wagging his tail Bronke’s started to lick Merna’s hand. The only time I saw Merna’s facial expression soften up. Merna made eye contact with the guard, “Would the captain be in his domain?” The guard gave Merna a toothy grin, “There are eight of them, which one would you be referring to?” Smiling while rubbing behind Bronke’s ear, “The Eladrin … Corster!” “Ah! You just missed him, left for his shift!” The guard was eyeing Merna up and down. I let out a warning growl which made each of the males straighten their backs. Handing the guard the last envelope, “do you mind giving this to him when he returns?” Taking the envelope he gave Merna a nod, “Sure thing!” Merna In the short time that I have been here, I have been able to identify all of the species here and different ranks. Positions are based on the cloaks the males and few females wear. Red cloaks are mages, black would be Chaos’ family. No embroidery on a cloak means the individual is at the lowest of the ranks. Embroidery around the hems of a red cloak and sleeves indicates a student. A red cloak with embroidery and an obsidian stone pendant indicates a member. A mage that has this plus a gold ring is a master. The GrandMaster Mage is dressed with more gold jewellery. He is the highest of all the mages. I have only seen a few black cloaks in passing. Chaos has kept me clear of his family and kin as far. The males parade their wealth with gems and gold. Studying their cloaks I could tell the difference between kin and Chaos’ offspring. The more elaborate the embroidery the higher up the food chain they are. The females were dressed in silk and gold. The serfs were in stained rags that used to be crisp white dresses. It was very apparent to me which serf had been here longer than the others by the state of the dress. When it comes down to the hunters, I had only seen them with a loin cloth. The first time I saw a changeling or shifter change form I had to take a double take to make sure I saw what I witnessed. I found out that they can change into whatever they want. The population of changelings or shifters is unknown since they can easily avoid dangerous situations. I had been told that they were master tricksters and that if I should cross paths with one, it would be best to avoid upsetting them since no one knows what they are truly capable of doing. Identifying a Dragonborn is easy to figure out. If the mouth and nose are not a giveaway, the scales definitely will. The colour of the scales depends on which clan they are from. Each colour has a different demeanour. Characteristic-wise, they are honourable and proud! When they judge you based on what you do they do not care where you come from. Bugbears enjoy three things eating, fighting and fucking! Ferocious by nature it is no surprise they are bred for warfare and other positions that involve killing. The majority of bugbears are a cross between human born and bear. They are medium build standing six feet to seven feet tall. Their skin and fur are yellowish red with deep brown eyes. It is their teeth, nose and nails that give them their names, resembling that of a bear. The Fae are easy to distinguish! They are incredibly beautiful. Like human born, they come in various sizes. What makes them different from human borns are their ears, they are pointed upwards. Unlike the story books, they do not have large beautiful wings. They are heavily ruled by nature, each having a dominant element, though a very talented and powerful fae can master more than one element.
