You Were Warned
Pierre A new trainer had been introduced to us along with his sister. Ime and Ihel. An interesting pair. Ashur told the Saddragon and myself that the two were his kin. They came from the outer reaches of our universe, also known as the abyss. They were not only renowned for their fighting abilities, but also strategy. They were military brats as Ashur put it while laughing! Training drills became extensive and many had complained how brutal it was. On the first day of drills with Ihel, many had been removed from the whole group. Ime was then their instructor. Something they were not willing to tolerate. Displaying her skills, she was quick to send them to the infirmary. It is quick to see that these two had a no bullshit persona. They were here to work. Train us to be able to defend ourselves and defeat our enemies. No words were spoken to us, I was not a fool I was well aware of what they were doing, they were training us for an upcoming war. Over and over again we've repeated the motions Ihel and Ime had taught us. I was one of the many millions that were successful in completing these tasks. Along with training our Master had placed more restrictions on everybody who resided within and around his terrain. Without a seal of approval, all those who were found not following the new rules would be executed on the spot. To prove this point, the bodies of four serfs have been placed on display for everyone to see what would happen if one person should disobey our Master's ruling. The pressure was placed even harder on the hunters; they were expected to not only enforce the new rules but they themselves were expected to follow them as well. There were no exceptions! With everything that was going on, we were still also expected to complete our scheduled tasks. I was getting ready to perform my task that had been scheduled. Asher Had informed me that my task had changed. I was no longer stationed to Patrol the South border. I was being moved to the Western Terrain. I cracked my neck when I heard this information. This could only mean one thing! For the longest time, there has been no information on Merna's whereabouts. our master had kept all the information to himself. Raising a brow, I silently asked my question to Asher. Ashur only nodded his head once pivoting he left the location. That action there told me everything I needed to know, Merna was back! The biggest question I had on my mind was where has she been? It was very clear that activity had been going on around this location. There was an extra vehicle in the driveway. a beat up minivan! In the house, I could hear the cries of a little child. It was customary for me to finish my scheduled task and then go straight home to Sadragon. This time I was going to drop by after my shift. I need answers from Merna. I was not going to settle for silence any longer. From what Sadragon had told me he heard from Ashur. An incident had happened which required her to go into hiding. That I could accept, but now that she is back I needed to know what happened. What has she been doing? And who are these people? Merna does not have friends, she just has a lot of enemies! A little toddler played on the floor when I stepped into the living room. The child seemed to be unaware of my presence. Merna came rushing from the hallway! “Pierre!” Merna yelled. There was a big smile on her face, “ it has been so long since the last time I saw you!” A male came from behind her holding in his hand a dagger. Merna glared at him, “Put that damn thing away!” She yelled at him. “Sagittarius, this is Pierre! the one that I spoke of a long time ago … He was my husband, remember?” Putting his dagger away, “sorry bro after everything that we've been through you can't be too careful!” I could fully understand, I never thought I would understand what it would feel like to be a parent. With a little wee one on the floor being aware of your surroundings and protection is the difference between life and death. While dinner was being made, Merna and I sat in the living room while the wee one played on the floor with her toys. While we sat there Merna told me what she had been doing from the point of me going and living with Sadragon up to this point. I know she wasn't telling me everything, I know Merna well enough, when she doesn't tell me everything she has a habit of fiddling around with her fingers. And because she does not have a poker face Merna has never attempted to lie, only to cover the full truth. After listening to Merna it was my turn to tell her what has been going on in my life. No different from Merna there were things that I could not disclose to her. With being a hunter and also an assassin, secrecy was the most important thing to us. That did not mean I couldn't tell her what was going on in my personal life. I told Merna how Sadragon and I had spoken to our master. We were looking at acquiring a breeder. Sadragon wanted to extend our family. Hearing this information Merna began to laugh, “I never pictured a little you running around your feet … Now that you mentioned it, it is kind of cute! What happened next?” I explained how the Master did not have any breeder but he would send word out that we were looking for one. After several interviews, a gentleman from Elunore had come to visit us with his youngest daughter, Amra Oloven. She was everything that Sadragon was looking for. She was quite polite and most of all clean.Soon after the contract was signed, Amra moved in with us. Soon I would hear Alma’s life story. The youngest of fifteen children, her father could not find a suitor for her. With only her two brothers bringing in money they struggled. Becoming a breeder was the only way that she could ensure a full belly of food and a roof over her head. Her father was too old to continue to support her. Her brothers had their own families to worry about. This was her only way of survival! Amra was only meant to be a breeder. After a great deal of discussing the situation with Sadragon. We made a proposal with her father. There was no way I was going to allow Amra to become a serf! Not underneath my roof! Sadragon and I decided that she would be a chosen mate. This way any children that are produced will have the same mother, and Amra will have a safe place to reside. The best part is the house is always clean!
